The debate over number 2??????

I keep hearing about how there should be a big debate over who is number 2.  I think that's ridiculous.  There needs to be a debate over who is number 1!!!!!  Florida has won on the road against A&M and beat LSU and South Carolina at home.  Those are 3 wins that are better than anything Bama has put up.  K-State went to Oklahoma, Iowa State, and West Virginia and came away with victories.  They held Oklahoma to 19 points, take a look at how many points Oklahoma is scoring this year.  Then tonight they go to WVU and hold one of the most potent offenses in America to 14 points.  ON THEIR HOME FIELD.  As of right now, these 2 teams have proven more than Alabama.  They should absolutely be the top 2 teams in the next BCS poll.  They may lose next week for all I know, but next week or 5 weeks from now have nothing to do with today.  UF and K-State are just more deserving of the top 2 spots than anyone else.

I'm not saying that's how it will end up, but this week strictly on what have you done so far, Florida and K-State have been far more impressive.  After watching them tonight, and seeing how well Oklahoma has played recently, I've bought into K-State.  That team can flat out tackle.  They hit guys hard while actually tackling with fundamentals.  I'm really impressed by them.  I hope they keep it up.  That QB is a stud too, with Braxton, A&M's QB, and Geno having bad games, the Heisman is his to lose.

Bama has an awesome O and D line, they are very good, I just don't think it's clear cut Bama, then everyone else like most do.  I was listening to Kiper and Dari Nowkah today and Kiper seemed to believe that Bama is good but not clearly way better than everyone else too.  Not saying that means anything just that's a guy in the media who actually can evaluate talent who believes Bama is beatable.

You can argue this all day but the media and coaches will continue to vote Bama number 1.

It's too early in the seeason to actually care about the BCS standings...each relevent team has like 3 or 4 games vs rank teams left. However I will make some risky dark horse predictions. Watch out for either Georgia or Mississippi State. If either of them pull the upset next week they will be in the drivers seat their division and its a given that the SEC championship will be a play in for the national championship.

It all depends on the matchup scenarios.  I think Kansas State can beat any spread team, but the weak defenses in the big12 would'nt help them against Alabama.  I think Oregon is the only team that can beat Alabama because of the tempo, and Oregon actually has a solid defense.  If Note Dame could get the offense rolling Brian Kelly Cincy style they would be tough for anyone to beat with that D.

Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.

Ya, I can't really believe what I'm seeing here. Bama isn't number one? They are getting by on last year's championship? Come on. I get it, Saban and Alabama are unlikeable but Alabama has shown no signs of slowing down, despite losing a Callipari-eque amount of starters. Oregon is my nod for #2, Florida is a better team than KSU, but their schedule stacks up better than both UF, and Oregon.

1) Bama

2) Florida

3)Oregon

4)KState

5)LSU

Last night was the first game I actually sat down and watched K-State.  I was VERY impressed.  Their D is is good.  They are fundamentally sound and the hit hard.  Their win against Oklahoma wasn't about Oklahoma not being good, it was about K-State being really good.  They still have 2 road conference games and games against 2 ranked teams to go, but K-State is for real.

Bama is playing great football, I'm just suggesting that they haven't played anyone yet.  Michigan was their toughest test.  My thought is, the media always says the top 2 should be selected based on what they've done so far.  Well so far Florida and K-State have played very good football against some very good opponents.

Bama and Oregon may be the 2 best teams, but neither has played anyone yet.  Oregon's schedule is backloaded heavily and Bama plays 1 team of significance this year, LSU.

@brewsters - I agree with you for the most part, except when you talk about Alabama's schedule.  Alabama's best win is michigan on a neutral field.  Florida beat LSU, TAMU and SC. 5/7 teams Bama played have losing records and one of the 2 with a winning record is FAU. At this point in the season, you cannot say Bama's SOS to Florida.  Also they played 1 ranked team (Mich at the time) and Florida has played 3 (2 in the top 10).  KSU has wins over two top 15 teams on the road. They have benefitted from playing KU, Missouri and North Texas.  Looking at schedules only, Alabama certainly does not hold up to KSU or UF
