There is something fishy about this situation Did you see him? He could barely walk. There is no way he doesn't have any type of head injury.
If he didn't have symptons of any type of injury that leads me to belive he wasnt injured at all, in which case why did he cause such a scene on the field?

I posted the same thing and totally agree. Mot saying anything nefarious is going on but there is more to the story. So what was the problem?
First off, we have no idea if he'll even start next week (we'll learn more on at UFM's presser). Secondly, it's not like the team trainers said, "Rub some dirt on it kid"! He was taken to OSU Med where he was looked at by objective doctors. There's no conspiracy theory.
Possibly straining or pulling of muscles in his neck. Maybe shock. You dont know for sure what it could be. There are a lot more than just concussions.
Fail -
Not sure what nerve we hit but the down votes are flying for no apparent reason.
I don't think the down votes are because you hit a nerve. I think they're because your posts are pure speculation, and people tend to trust the doctors at the hospital (who say Braxton is fine) over speculation.
I'm just saying something doesn't add up. I'm not saying this is a conspiracy but something doesn't feel right. We all saw him - he couldnt walk and he was wiping tears from his eyes.
- Respect the Rivalry -
Our fanbase is incredible. Only OSU fans would be split between relief and "there's something weird going on here"! upon learning the franchise QB is ACTUALLY FINE. I don't disagree that there's more that we need to learn, but UFM and the people who make a lot of money to win football games won't screw around with Braxton's future.
This is something I've noticed too but (very) clearly did a terrible job trying to talk about in the front page article about him being fine. I don't think there is some conspiracy going on, but I do know that whether it be from his coaches' influence or Miller himself that he evidently has an incredible recovery rate.
It is also obvious no one else can talk about this without being downvoted... and it's sad because no one is being disrespectful or trolling.
Ah yup, there's some type of conspiracy goin' on here. Most probably it was some master plan for Brax to fake an injury so Kenny could lead the team from behind and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat so Purdue could know what we felt like losing the game in OT last year. Or maybe it was Brax just want'n a ride to the hosp because there was a hot EMT in the ambulance. Afterall, spine wrenching tackles really don't cause any numbness or anything like that.
Ooops, did I forget to use the sarcasm font?!!!! It's amazing how many people just can not fathom how traumatic college football is on the human body. I remember meeting Jim Brown when I was a kid - he told stories of post game situations in both college (at Syracuse) and the pros where he could not walk for up to 5 days after a game. Yet, he was always ready to play the next week. And, that was back in the day before every athlete on the field was like a rock. Heck, these guys take a beating week in and week out. Very few Q's can be as integral part of a running game because of the beating their bodies take. We had lots of comments early in the year how Brax was not going to last the season if he ran the ball too much. Today's hit was traumatic, but coupled with all the other hits he has absorbed during the year it is not surprising that there could have been some numbness that would make the situation look much worse that what it actually was. Heck, I would be surprised if he actually plays at all next week. But, today's athletic trainers can work a lot of magic with many of the bumps and bruises that would have sidelined players 20 years ago. That said, there are some injuries that just can not be hurried. Let's hope Brax is not in that situation.
Oh/Collin,
Fail and I aren't saying something is being held, but just that the entire story hasn't been told. Obviously everyone is pumped he is fine.
Let me ask a simple question: have you ever seen somebody taken away in an ambulance and then being totally fine, no injury whatsoever?
I haven't.
Hit it on the head NW.
Obviously, I like everyone else was expecting the worst. Furthermore, this reversal of fortune was very, very surprising. I would not be surprised if Brax saw split time next week. Hell, I would be all for Kenny G taking the bulk of the snaps against Illinois.
CC- well said on that last post. I love Brax and am thrilled hes fine.
I think in comming weeks we will see that he is not "fine." Even if hes not, I still think Young KG can take us where we need to go.
- Respect the Rivalry -
He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
All I know is Miller didn't appear to know he was in Ohio....hope he is good to go and can rest tomorrow.
Have you ever had your bell rung? It takes awhile to recover from! I'm not saying that there might not be something wrong but it is possible he just had his bell rung. I imagine we'll find out more as the week progress'.
Level 1 trauma center cleared him of all possible head/neck/shoulder injuries. some of the best doctors on the planet. Conspiracy theory? These MD's take their job a little more seriously than that.
NW Buckeye: good comment, as usual.
I urge the "something doesn't add up" folks to start with Occam's Razor: Braxton Miller went to a world class medical facility which would not clear him unless the doctors were confident Miller had no major injuries or serious concerns.
Then why did he look so f*cked up on the sideline?
- Respect the Rivalry -
CC
No I have not, but I have had concussions. I don't understand the point you are trying to make. The play looked terrible, and I am glad he is fine. I'm shocked really (in a positive way) that he could look in such bad shape and be completely fine.
Remember Gholson at MSU getting knocked-out cold and looking dead? He ended up fine as well. Braxton was obviously loopy and wasn't faking. It must be possible to get knocked-out or knocked loopy without having a traditional concussion or lasting symptoms, thank god!
D. Anthony
Obviously he was having issues and it made sense for the well being of the kid to get him to the hospital and checked out. Not sure where the conspiracy in that is. Thankfully Kenny G was up to the task and we didn't lose what was an ugly game anyways. I can't see any conspiracy concept here - just a hard take down and a kid shaken up, probably thinking he was feeling stuff he wasn't even feeling! It doesn't add up to anything more than that, but I see a lot more stepping out of bounds type of runs and QB slides in his future.
I noticed he was trying to use a towel to his eyes through his helmet. Maybe he got two eyes full of turf pellets and was completely blinded and in pain. Ever had debris in your eyes? It's terrible in more ways than one and if you cannot see to walk, can make you look a little funny. Also he hung his head like you would if it were the case. No doubt he was slammed hard enough to jar a few different parts including his brain a little. It seemed strange to me at the time with the towel and that just popped into my head. It no doubt rattled his head though. I also heard a news report saying he had several doctors check him out completely before releasing him.
My guess is that Braxton does not go to the hospital at an away game. OSU Med is top notch in this type of injury. I understand that many people question why he seems to have to come out of every game because of an appearant injury. But think about this. He has been THE man since he was in HS. Many guys in his position are told that it is better to take a play off and make sure everything is fine rather than risk further injury.
Buckeye in PA purgatory
NW, you're the man. That is all.
There's something fishy with this post. Did I miss something? I thought he was checked out at the OSU Med Center? Who would question the findings of that Medical Staff?
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
is fail a troll, am new here, just wondering
Clearly they wanted to report that he was okay so people stopped praying and fearing for his health etc. They obviously did not release all the details but that's why we have media availability from urban.
This is faulty logic:
Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Whatever potential injury the staff thought Braxton might have had, those type of medical specialists are not every where and in every football locker room in America. Yes, it is quite possible for an athletic trainer or whatever type of doctor was in the locker room to be wrong. The more likely case may have been that they were being precautions, may have even been sure they were wrong, but wanted to double check with a specialist and some diagnostic tests.
In fact I do remember a case of a player taken away in ambulance and then turned out to be fine. A Raiders WR (Murphy I think) took a cheap shot from a Steelers players in the game in Oakland this year. Murphy was put on a stretcher, carted off, and taken away in ambulance. GUESS WHAT? He was fine, and cleared and released from the hospital.
CC and Fail you don't know the facts and are basing opinions on assumptions and faulty logic.
I'm glad to hear Braxton has been cleared and I hope he doesn't have any lingering effects from this injury. I just want to add that judging by how he looked on the sidelines I don't think it was as much a concussion as it was probably a neck injury. He was in obvious pain and didn't look out of it like someone does when they have a concussion. Get some ice on that neck Braxton and see your Chiropractor in the morning.
i was taken away in an ambulance once, and there was nothing wrong with me, back in june 9 ,1999. it was a very violent collision too. precautionary examinations is why i was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
No, Fail is not a troll. He has his opinion.
Maybe there are a couple possible explanations guys. First of all, I have seen people taken to a hospital by ambulance for precautionary reasons. My friend had too. So going in an ambulance as a precaution is not out of the realm of possibilities.
Secondly, have you ever had a stinger in your neck? It is debilitating. You can easily look like youare disoriented because it stings so F'in bad. Then after a short while, or with my situation a little medicinal help and rest, it will start to be better but sore. When they say fine, he might have suffered from a stinger, still feels some pain but nothing serious. Hence "fine" and not "perfectly normal". I haven't read anywhere were they said he had no injuries. Just that he is fine!
It doesn't have to be a head injury. He was twisted and thrown down on his shoulder very hard! Stingers hurt like hell! Maybe that was the obvious part but they were concerned with something underlying. Most of the time when they have a stinger elsewhere, they stay on the sideline and continue with a trainer. This was around the neck and shoulder. They were probably really concerned but now he is fine. Lets be happy!
Weird assumption here but: it reminds me of a boxer or fighter getting knocked out. Like in boxing when a guy gets hit so hard his neck snaps( inst there an artery or vein in the neck that air or blood gets cut off for a split second knocking the person out). He slammed so hard and awkward , this may have happened. Might explain why he had no concussed symptoms and no neck or shoulder issues.
I know it won't be popular to say here but I think he's a diva about his injuries. How many times do we need to see him flail around forever until Kenny comes in only to see him ready to pop in on the next play? I'm not sure whether I should be happy that he's not injured or worried that he's kind of a pussy with his theatrics. From his actions I thought he broke his collarbone, punctured a lung, or at the very least tore a neck muscle. That display was ridiculous and coupled with displays from other games he's lost some respect in my eyes. I can't think a guy like Simon who plays with one arm looks at Brax's theatrics and doesn't just put his hand over his eyes and shake his head. Remember the fumble from when he "blew out" his knee only to hop right back in the next series? He's an absurd athlete but a total pussy and I hate saying it.
Seriously!?!
Like I said. It won't be popular. Prepare the downvotes for the difference of opinion.
I am surprised that so many people think there must be some conspiracy at work here if Braxton isn't seriously injured. Haven't you ever been hurt before? Most times it hurts like hell and can even ring your bell but after a few minutes things clear up and the pain subsides. I am sure he is still going to be very sore from landing that hard on his shoulder, which I believe was his throwing arm. He might still not be able to practice for a few days or possibly miss next Saturday's game. All the hospital did was clear him of any serious injury, he is probably still very bruised and a little shaken after that hit.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
World class doctors cleared him. There's nothing to suggest that their diagnosis was wrong.
And keep in mind: Anything that can be surmised without evidence can just as easily be dismissed without evidence.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I was kind thinking it was a neck crinker from looking at the tackle & they wanted to make sure he didn't hurt/break the neck. I assume they assessed him & cleared him to go after concussion tests& X-rays...but I'm just a guy watching at home...
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
UFC fighters get punched in the face and lay motionless for awhile. They don't get concussed. Braxton took a direct hit to the head from the ground.
Kind of ridiculous Statutory. If any Buckeye in recent memory was a diva regarding injuries, it was Beanie. Braxton is more than entitled to a play or two off if it means our "Ferrari" is in working order.
It wasn't his throwing arm.
Would you rather have TP back? The guy who ran out of bounds to avoid ANY hits? Braxton takes an absolute beating for this team . I'm sure its not mentioned but I'm sure hes playing hurt or has played hurt. He always fights for extra yardage and takes the brunt of the punishment. He avoids less defenders than beanie wells did! Hardly a "pussy"
Beanie was too. Maybe Braxton learned by watching him.
Statutoryglory, that is about the stupidist thing I have ever heard posted on this site. Funny Braxton's teamates don't think he is a pussy. From what I have read they think his is one tough kid. I think they know better than u how tough the kid is. What possible reason would he have for "acting" more injured than he is??
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
Ha the up vote down vote is hilarious. I'm getting downvoted solely for saying something that's not popular. That is a clear violation of policy. Mods, where are you to penalize these rule violators?
I can't believe you are calling him a diva Statutory. Have you seen that knee twist he got? If anyone went down like that, they would be lying on the ground too writhing in pain! This time he was cleary hurt despite what the actual injury was. Ever sleep on your arm wrong and lose feeling? Can't do anything with it right? but then shortly right after you are fine? GET A CLUE DUDE!
Plus the guy has no problem getting back into the game as soon as he can! The guy is a warrior! Just because he can't take a shot and dust it off right away doesn't mean he can't take the hit.
Simon is 260 and a muscled freak! Braxton isn't as big so hits tend to take a bit more of a toll on him. Plus I bet even Simon would say Braxton takes a lot of hits and its amazing how he keeps getting back up. Simon is the hitter, Braxton usually is the hittee!
He was only cleared of Head, Neck, and Shoulder injuries right? It didn't say anything about rib injuries. The way he was gasping for air and the pain he was in, I think he may have been banged up. The report said his head, neck and shoulder was ok. So it could be both. He was cleared of a head injury but he was actually injured as well.
No, you're getting downvoted for saying something stupid. Big difference.
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
I will gladly eat my words if he bruised his ribs. As of yet I've read that nothing happened. Bruised ribs are terrible.
He is a kid who plays his heart out every Saturday for all of us. The guys a fighter. Most mportantly, he is a good kid and a winner. We should be happy to have someone like him represent buckeye nation.
Funny that you mention his knee incident at MSU. Braxton himself said that was the one time he was really worried that he was seriously hurt this season. So, a kid who has had pretty serious injuries in the past in high school, actually may have though he blew his knee out and was concerned.
I'm sensing a trend. The next two and a half years will prove me right or wrong. But I'm guessing if I'm correct none of the policy abusers downvoting me right now will track down this thread in 5 years to apologize for kicking me for not thinking like they do.
Nothing fishy IMO. He obviously hit his head and was in shock, dazed, confused, in pain, etc. The coaching staff did the right thing and sent him to the hospital. Apparently he checked out fine and passed all their evaluations. I'm sure more will come out this week when Meyer speaks with the media, but IMO there is nothing at all fishy going on here. Braxton, the team, and the fanbase all caught a huge break with this news today. He could've been ruled out for the season if it was something worse.
Get over the downvotes Statutory! Act like you don't care because it probably is egging them on when you do.
FYI, I'm not one of them. I just think you are wrong in thinking someone is a pussy for taking the hits Braxton takes. Those are not weak shots! He gets hit very hard!
I disagree. I think he's the best I've seen at avoiding hits since Barry Sanders. He's truly special in the open field. The worst hits are the ones he takes in the pocket or late out of bounds.
I'm guessing he had a stinger from hell. The intensity of these would bring anyone to their knees and are scary as hell. Especially if it's your first one.
Wouldn't surprise me ColdBuckeye. Nerve pain can really mess with you.
Miller must be from outerspace. He gets his legs twisteed, his knee buckles like a wet noodle. He gets bounced like a basketball. You think his career is over. He is out for one play and right back in there. He gets his head slammed against the artificial turf. He doesn't know what galaxy he's in. His legs don't work as they put him an ambulance and whisks him off to the hospital. At the hospital they check every bumb and orifice, no sign of a concussion. An hour later he walks out of the hospital.
There has never been a case like this in meical history.
Braxton is actually an android and no one is supposed to know. They had to take him to the "hospital" because his wires were showing and they needed to cover it up before someone saw them being exposed!
Pretty soon a race of Braxton's will take over the world and there is no way we can out run them!
Is this the same same fan base who ridicules Denard every time he is "injured"?
I personally try to ridicule Denard at every opportunity.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Braxton is a warrior - no doubt about it.
My post was intended to raise some questions because what I saw happen in the stadium (Braxton's body language, ambulance, etc) scared me eneough to think this might be a career ending type injury. I was a shocked when the doctors said he was fine and it didn't make sense after seing the whole thing unfold.
- Respect the Rivalry -
We should get a third party like Matlock to find the real truth or maybe Urban pulled a Dantonio and and lied about his player being hurt (Gholston in bucks game you guys know) I smell mystery and conspiracy with a sci-fi twist! We should write a book!
Wherever you are, there you be!
Ohio State could have 3 Braxton Millers in their medical/engineering/NASA facility. One went into the hospital and was replaced by a newer model that WALKED OUT OF THE HOSPTIAL.
I was shocked to hear that he was fine, but they only did a concussion check. His ribs could be really hurt, a punctured lung, or possibly a lacerated spleen. The point is, we can't just say "oh he doesn't have a concussion, he will be 100% next week". We still don't know when he is able to play football. On the sidelines, I was just hoping it wasn't career-threatening.
@PUG, actually you are incorrect. We don't redicule Denard when he gets hurt. We relish when Denard gets hurt! Big difference.
I don't know why everyone is going to punctured lungs or broken ribs. Much more obvious explanation would be a neck stinger. He landed on his shoulder/neck aukwardly and was holding his head down like his neck was sore. Stingers can be very disorienting. Can make you look like there are a number of things wrong with you.
Heres something else to consider
Did Nate Williams really have a concussion or was Urban giving him a week off against Indiana?
I think that was the most obvious "we're calling it a concussion but I'm really just giving him a week off" ive ever seen.
- Respect the Rivalry -
I think I got a concussion from reading this post. I'm taking the week off!

Judas F. Priest. SBMW Mumsy was a nurse (BSN, BGSU BTW) in the ER of a Level 1 Shock Trauma Center (the highest designation for hospitals that provide comprehensive medical care for those with traumatic injuries). They know their stuff, as they routinely deal with serious car crashes, shootings, farm accidents (which can be quite horrible), etc. I will tell you right now the docs and nurses don't give a crap who you are/what you do when they are checking you out, and they don't mess around. They will check you out from here to Friday and back again, especially when there is the potential for head/spinal or lung injuries. They are not going to give a clean bill of health when it is not warranted to someone who is injured simply because he is an OSU football player. The doctors should not be confused with some trainer under duress to clear a player on the football field. Heck, the doc who signed Braxton's release papers might have been a graduate of TSUN for all we know. OK, end of rant.
this thread brought out the crazies... a lot of people having far too informed opinions for their pay grade.
By that I mean most of this thread is people talking out their butts.
Cause I couldn't go for three
The way he came down on the side of his head coulda messed with his equilibrium... His knee did buckle and I thought we lost him for the season. Same goes for today, when I saw the ambulance I didn't think good thoughts.... I don't understand how anyone could think of him as anything but a warrior kid is tuff not tough. Pony boy reference
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
yeah people are taking to the hospitals all the time for precautionary measures and are totally fine. It looked like he got the wind knocked out of him too, and probably pretty good. He was probaby complaining of dizzyness and or shortness of breath so thats why they took him to the hospital. I thought for sure he either had a broken collarbone or clavical or something internal. Didn't really look like he banged his head at all but could have gotten whip lash.
If you ever played and got a stinger, it temorarily paralyses the whole damn side of your body.
I have had a stiff neck for the past 2 days. I "injured" it sleeping wrong, not from taking multiple hits from 200-350 lb. football players. I look silly as hell when someone behind me asks a question or wants to talk. I have a difficult time lying down and getting up. I have been dropping things like crazy because my fine motor skills are a little jacked up when my muscles spasm. I haven't gone to the hospital to have it looked at because I know they would tell me "yep, you have a stiff neck." But then again, I didn't injure myself as a result of physical trauma, I don't have a hospital in my back yard that will provide me with free services, and my future isn't tied to my ability to perform physically/athletically at a freakish level to be successful. The reports on Brax's injuries just said he didn't have any neck, shoulder, spine or neck injuries. My guess is that he is gonna be sore as hell for a few days and spend more time in the ice bath than the weight room.
Kenny G getting that W yesterday will have Braxton recovering at a faster rate.
I agree with NW Buckeye above...it's all a conspiracy to start a QB controversy for Kenny Guiton to play over Braxton. That way we can make Kenny G references bc he was such a great performer. Up there with no talent a$$-clowns like Michael Bolton...
In all serioiusness...Kenny should play this weekend against PSU to start with even if Braxton gets cleared. If he struggles, then have Brax360 come in to win it and keep the bagel in the loss column. Personally I think Kenny will do just fine...I agree with UFM's points about confidence in Kenny G. after the spring and fall camps.

Why does speculation make some of you lose your damn minds? It's a damn blog conversation. Quit downvoting people simply because you don't like what they said.
Pure speculation here, but it's possible he had concurrent injuries on the play. The way he was hunched over and breathing weird, I wondered if he had the wind knocked out of him in combination with getting his head jammed into the turf. Probably an unpopular comment here, but his head did not appear to be in the game from the beginning (definitely no pun intended), but he just didn't seem inspired throught the game, with the fumbles, missed passes, and uncreative running.
Some of the people in some of these posts should be ashamed...that is all...Hope Miller is good to go...he got hammered yesterday.
I think what some of the conspiracists are trying to say is because nothing was found wrong with him that he was dramatizing his symptoms or "faking" the injury.
Obviously, I think people are digging really deep to come to that conclusion. Because he looked so "bad" or "out of it" on the sideline doesn't mean there has to be something wrong with him. The medical staff that examined him are credible physicians or they wouldn't be in their positions. They arent going to clear him just so he can continue a heisman campaign or so the buckeyes can stay undefeated.
As for his"theatrics"- I'm speaking from experience- if you have never been knocked out before or as an example taken a punch to the face. Everyone handles that different the first time it happens to you. When you are wobbly and can't get your balance or lose your ability to initially focus it can be scary! That doesn't make you a "pussy" as stated above. It makes you a human! The kid is 19 years old and got banged up pretty good. He may have never felt what he was feeling at that point and in the lockeroom so he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He checked out fine. I,as many others, are thankful for that. I don't think any of us on here need to question the toughness of these players who play a violent game every week for our enjoyment.
"I'll fire when I'm god damn good and ready! You got that?" - Pete "Maverick" Mitchel
I didn't read all of the above posts, so this was probably said, but if you've ever head a stinger to the head/neck area, you know it can basically make you look like a 90-year-old man trying to walk for the first time in a 10 years. If the docs say he's fine, he's fine.
