I realize that it may take some time to figure out how to optimize the scoreboard's use and operation but, geez, at least in the meantime can't replays of close or controversial plays be displayed on that giant and expensive screen? I mean isn't that one of the reasons why it was installed? Instead, during the Nebraska game when plays were being reviewed upstairs the fans downstairs were subjected to embarrassingly inane Brutus cartoons one of which, for some reason (humor?) (political correctness?), included a framed picture of Prez Gordon Gee. The absence of replays during the Nebraska game was fairly aggravating and it had me wondering whether there’s a B1G conference-wide ban on replaying close or controversial plays while they're under review.

I'll second this sentiment. The majority of the stuff shown on the screen is borderline embarrassing. Don't spend all the money on the screen if you aren't going to have the production values to match.

Agreed.. I've always wondered why they never showed replays and I personally think they show way too much of the brutus cartoons.
college stadiums will intentionally not show replays of controversial calls to avoid (further) fan ire at refs. highlights and everything are fair game, but i have never seen a reviewed call shown on the videoboard at the 'shoe or any other college stadium. i know they show it in the NFL (coaches often use the in-stadium replay to decide whether to challenge), but never seen it in college - someone correct me if i'm wrong.

While I would prefer to see what is being reviewed, I would settle for highlights of the day or almost anything instead of the shoddy cartoons. Maybe show the players and coaches between plays and timeouts as is done on the broadcasts?

Nick Saban thought it would be unfair if we put the replay on the jumbo-tron.

+1 Buckfutter, you are spot on
@BUCKFUTTER, you're right on. Frankly, I was amazed at some of the things they did replay on Saturday. The triple-facemask/phantom-roughing-the-passer play that went against us was replayed, which was greeted with a resounding chorus of boos. There was another, too, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. Generally, if it's controversial, it will not be replayed. As it was, it was cool to see the police-escorted van full of zebras go zipping away from the stadium, but kinda sad it was necessary...

They put the previous play up immediately after the play is finished, but that is the only time they show any plays. That's the only chance the stadium gets a second look which is why they were able to express displeasure in that instance.

It frustrates me too... I've gotten to the point of taking in an FM radio and listening to Paul Keels hoping to get some insight but they're at like a 5-10 seconds delay of what's happening.
Plain and simple, they don't want the fans to know just how much the refs suck.

I think they have been showing the replay quickly after the play has ended no matter what happened on the play. Often times it is too quick to catch, especially in the hurry up. The issue is that once they know there was something controversial they won't show it again, but I'm pretty sure they have been showing the replay of every play.
^ That is correct. They do show the replay after every play but even when they review or any stoppage in the game I wish they would at least put something worthwhile on the scoreboard.
MSU showed the Braxton fumble like ten times at spartan stadium!
Michigan Sucks!
Yeah Michigan state showed the replays while it was under review. The fans were booing and in a hissy fit over the one ref calling him down.
i think showing controversial plays would be beneficial... as a coach i can tell you that "make-up calls" are 100% real and necessary
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Agreed...I've went to two games and neither game showed many replays (even Smith's catch against Miami OH was only shown once and I was wondering if they were even going to show it). It seems strange to me to have this huge scoreboard at the shoe but not use it correctly.
