Safety Play
Nobody is bringing it up so I thought I would. That safety pay was sooooo much horseshit. That was in no wary a penalty. MSU did the same thing last year against us on that long td pass. Here is the rule:
PENALTY—10 yards (Exception: Penalties for Team A fouls behind the neutral zone are enforced from the previous spot. Safety if the foul occurs behind Team A’s goal line) [S42].
c. A block in the back (other than against the ball carrier) is illegal (A.R. 9-33-I and VII; and A.R. 10-2-2-XII).
Exceptions:
1. Offensive players who are on the line of scrimmage at the snap within the blocking zone (Rule 2-3-6) may legally block in the back in the blocking zone, subject to the following restrictions:
(a) A player on the line of scrimmage within this blocking zone may not leave the zone and return and legally block in the back.
(b) The blocking zone disintegrates when the ball leaves the zone (Rule 2-3-6).
2. When a player turns his back to a potential blocker who has committed himself in intent and direction or movement.
3. When a player attempts to reach a runner or legally attempts to recover or catch a fumble, a backward pass, a kick or a touched forward pass, he may push an opponent in the back above the waist (Rule 9-1-5 Exception 3).
4. When the opponent turns his back to the blocker under Rule 9-3-3-a-1(b).
5. When an eligible player behind the neutral zone pushes an opponent in the back above the waist to get to a forward pass (Rule 9-1-5 Exception 4).
Due to the unbalanced line he would have been the tackle I believe. It was almost as bad as Arkansas safety. Although the Arkansas never actually happened right.
I'm tired of BS safeties...between Arkansas (how do refs forget about forward progress rule?), TSUN last year (holding call in the endzone - weak call at best), and today (complete BS, from 29A that was not a penalty).

To me it looked like a bad call along with most of the roughing the passer calls the Bucks receive.

Add the 15 yards on the non horse-collar call. Convert the field goal. We are never IN the safety situation. Instead of down 8 we should have been down 3.
Not real sure why we have replay. Has not helped Buckeyes at all this season. Even when the call is obvious.
That said, did anyone notice if Hyde fumbled on GW TD? Looks like when he leaped ball falls out, but he lands on it. Thoughts?
Yeah there was no block in the back.
@Kbonay, yeah I feel like I was the only one who noticed as the announcers and even later commentators never mentioned it. When I went back to check it out I think the ball crossed the plane of the endzone prior to it coming out so there was no reason to be worried.
However I would like to make special note that Mark "The Hater" May said that Fields didn't catch the ball. Does this guy's glasses allow him to see stuff that isn't real?

Terrible call - not a safety. The officiating in this game was quite shady, IMO.
I don't know how to respond to Hope's shameless, absurd complaint about the officiating toward the end of the game. Is he freakin' kidding us?
Just watched the replay and the Buckeyes did have virtually all the close calls and non-calls go against them. We've been lucky a lot this year in terms of mistakes by our opponents and dropped balls etc but we've definitely been on the wrong side of some bad officiating this year. Braxton recoved that bad snap fumble and was down before getting the ball stripped (how was this missed/not reviewed on a change of possession play?).
