I had that sick feeling in the 1st Quarter and then it was pretty much disbelief after that. I knew this offense could be good, but wow! You can just see these kids growing week to weeek. The coaching, the conditioning, the offense - it's all creating a pretty impressive mentality. As much as I truly respected Tressel and what he did as a leader for the program this is simply so much more exciting to watch. I know they can't all be this impressive, but when things are clicking I think we better enjoy it! It seems like we are still vulnerable when teams attack us on the perimeter but how can you really find much to complain about after that game? So the only question is did Urban just tick off other Big Ten coaches by not taking that knee at the end of the game? Not sure that I personally care because I like the "play til the end" mentality but we already seem to get hammered for Urban's alleged "non-gentlemen" like activities by the other coaches so I imagine there is a lot of eye rolling out there tonight. Ha!

It doesn't matter what the other coaches think, they can't do anything about it. Welcome to the Urban Meyer era...where we are better than you and we don't give a shit how you feel about it.
i can care less what other big ten coaches think, wished urban had onside kicked after the last touchdown and then try for another touchdown.
Well, it's not like Urban was calling pass plays. That last Hyde TD was the fault of the Nebraska D.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
I said this on another thread but....It's the defenses job to stop the offense. We didn't run a trick play or take a shot down field or something, we were just running the ball. Nothing wrong with the play call.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
Oh I agree 100% and I have no issue with it personally. Of course if you are a Buckeye hater before then you are REALLY a Buckeye hater now. Lol.
Wow Jim Tressel post more on this site than I thought
I am still sickened by our defense but I am happy about the overall results tonight. The turnovers skew the perception of our defenses performance. It isn't catastrophic but one I struggle to have pride in.
We don't play the Little Sisters of the Poor therefore, we don't give charity. It's the opposing D's job to stop our offense. I was always taught to play until the clock shows zeros so I'm fine with them not taking a knee.
Who let the WHIMPS OUT!! This is BIG TEN FOOTBALL!!! If you think for one minute, other teams would not do the same , then they are not WINNERS. I just don"t unerstand you.
Urban said in an earlier presser "its not his style to take a knee" the other coaches have been warned
I wish Tressel did post on here Remington. It would sure provide better insight than a lot of posters! However, I wasn't saying what we did was bad, just observing what others are bound to be saying tomorrow. I have been one of those few guys who have backed this team from day one and now that we are starting to put it together I'm sure not stopping just because coach called a run instead of taking a knee and the other team was caught asleep. Not his fault. It's his style - all in - all the time. That's why we go for it on 4th down and fake punt. Personally I am LOVING the entertainment value of it. All of it!!! Go Bucks!
Good point OTRAIN. And EK - read what is posted before you try to call people out. Geez. You can't read one line or just the headline and then post something off base trying to make others feel stupid. If you read everything then you know that it's just to start conversation and get opinions. Like I said I am not worried about it at all - just curious what others thought. I am 100% an Urban fan and have been since day one so none of this surprises me. Every coach has his style and either you love or hate him. It is what it is!
With the way the Nebraska players disrespected script Ohio at halftime, I wish we would have run the score up more. We should gone for an onside kick on the
last kickoff and went for another touchdown. What Nebraska did was completely unacceptable.
agree with ubu, wanted an onside kick too. would have been sweet
^^What did the Nebraska players do?
Tango, what happened? I think the only people that would have seen that would have been the people that were at the game. I watched the entire halftime show and I didn't see what you are talking about.
Yeah nothing was mentioned on the broadcast! Sounds like something good.
Two Nebraska players came out in the middle of script Ohio and started kicking field goals in the way of the script and blocked the bands progress. Someone ran onto the field and moved their stuff out of the way.
F them for interrupting one of the best traditions in the history of college football. Shoulda hung 77 on them.
haa
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I agree 100%. Hyde bounced it to the outside and scored a TD. Nebraska simply laid down and died. How is that running the score up?
Wow. Sounds like they deserve to get blown out. Maybe Urban should have called that pass play then.
Omg someone on this site agrees with me, thank you MACEYKO
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
We stopped the no huddle, we weren't throwing, no read plays. No problems.
Nebraska....go get your shine box !!!!
All other programs/fans already hate us..... Let's just give them another reason!
I didn't see the band incident but even if it did happen a good reason for not running the play and just taking a knee is someone on either squad could get seriously injured on a play that is not necessary. It's simply not worth the risk to make a point that is meaningless in the big pciture.
Can get just as easily injured taking a knee after the Tampa Bay incident. Taking out the starters should have happened but running a play as opposed to taking a knee was necessary. As people above pointed out, 1:30 when Hyde ran the ball. Nebraska still had timeouts. It just was too much time to start taking a knee. Not to mention I bet They would have taken a knee after maybe one more run if Hyde didn't break it for a TD.
If Nebraska didn't want any of that to happen, don't try to throw the ball and take a sack/fumble. Nebraska was still playing to win. they could have just ran a running play too. Why should OSU stop playing when Nebraska was still trying.
Sorry, went back and went over your post, & guess what? I stand by my post!! Perceptions of what other BIG coaches think is irrelevant. Welcome to the to OSU football Urban style. Play hard, hold nothing back 110% at all times. He will play within the rules & what other coaches think of him? That remains to be seen.
It's not like we went for 2 or anything.
"I like to kick Michigan's ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum."
@OTRAIN2416 He said it isn't the TEAM's style to take a knee. The players want to play hard for all 60 minutes and Meyer respects that.
"I like to kick Michigan's ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum."
I vote for run the score up, and by that, I mean let them play hard tell the gun goes off.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
If Hyde had ran up the middle and got stopped, OSU probably would have took a knee. Hyde bounced outside and scored that play on his own - good for him. Bo Pellini needs to be worried about his own team more than anything Urban Meyer is doing!
DEB II
I mean no offense btw before I say this...but who cares about those coaches? I hope UFM and company score a ton on the teams OSU should (Neb. Wisky tTUN and MSU). It wasn't going to happen on MSU...their defense is too good this year. However, those aforementioned teams should be wary and not offended as well as scared IMHO. This could happen to them...

Bush League, here you go: Nebraska Players Walk onto Field During Script Ohio - YouTube
Theres enough room on the scoreboard so why not try and fill it with all the Buckeye points they can
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Would love to do this against M*ch*g*n and them go for 2 because we couldn't go for 3.
I hope Urban sends the other coaches into fits of rage. The B1G is awful because it doesn't get shaken up nearly enough.
63-38 looks a lot better than 56-38
There's no such thing as running up the score, it's the other team quitting or not competing.
Wherever you are, there you be!
Nebraska had no problem hanging 73 on Idaho State.
It's not like Nebraska was a defenseless FCS, Sun Belt, SWAC or some directional school. They chose to accept the invitation to join the B1G; welcome to the conference.
Maybe Hyde should have fell down at the 1 and UFM could have had the guys run out the time from the one yard line. That would have been a whole lot better huh! !!!
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
I must have missed something.... Did Bo complain about the Buckeyes running the ball near the end of the game or are we just pretending he did?
Ding ding... we have a winner. BuckeyesMJ makes the best point on the thread. Why is it OK for Nebraska to put up 73 points on Idaho St but it's "classless" for OSU to run it in when they're driving down the field & can't be stopped?? That's silly & after having seen the Nebraska kicker on the field during script Ohio - OSU couldn't have put enough points on the board IMO...
Edit: I did not hear Bo Pelini complaining about the points, but I did see a few shows today that mentioned they thought the last score was OSU "running it up" toward the end...

3 Nebraska players had a chance to stop Rod Smith on his TD run. Many Players had a chance to stop El Guapo before his 4 TDs. Stop someone from scoring on called run plays.
-The Aristocrats!
Everybody in the stadium and the viewers knew who was going to get the ball and Nebraska could do nothing about it. Nebraska fans are making more out of this than Bo and his players. Urban played many freshmen and sophomores, and still took the Huskers to the woodshed. What an atmosphere for football. It is really exciting to anticipate what will happen in the years to come. Go Bucks.
Some of this has already been stated, but...
1. The other B1G coaches should've been on notice the moment we hired UFM (see "We're gonna go really hard...")
2. Who gives a crap what the other coaches think
3. If they don't want us to score on them, they should learn to stop the run
4. There should be absolutely no reason to accuse any AQ team of running up the score on any other AQ team...ever -- put you big-boy pants on and play football
5. UFM probably just wanted to make sure none of his OL got hurt by assuming the victory formation...
"The revolution will be televised."
It still completely baffles me as to how this is even a subject of conversation..so much to the point that i cant even argue with it..it was a run play when nebraska still had timeouts with a minute and a half left and the nebraska D let hyde walk into the end zone. i have officially ended this point forever
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
