Personally, I'm a fan of the chrome helmet, just not that sure about the huge black stripe in the middle. Otherwise, I love this.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Eh, not so sure this is it. Last week (roughly), someone a picture of this jersey being sold on eBay. It's a home prototype of the 2009 Pro Combat. Now, Nike could be recycling it (the flywire in the shoulders isn't exactly their newest tech), or I could be dead wrong. But something tells me this isn't it.

Helmets are terrible. Especially for the last game of the year. There is nothing like watching players like John Simon on his Senior Day having a helmet full of Buckeye stickers. Now these helmets will have no stickers.
Also the jersey shoulders look like they have wings like Oregon, which makes sense for them since they are the Ducks!
I just hate it being the last game of the year!
Another thing: maybe the kid who wrote the story does in fact have an inside source, but it just seems like an amalgamation of pictures that are already out there. Also, since when has Nike ever announced Pro Combats the week before they're unveiled (according to his article)? The helmet is old news; I'm taking a wait and see approach.
There has been pics of that helmet out for 6 months. The flywire design in the shoulders has been out since '09 like O-H keepa said. I REALLY hope that is not our Pro Combat. The helmet is atrocious....
The diamond plate looks awful. These would easily be my least favorite Pro Combat uniform.

I might be able to handle chrome helmets, but not the chrome check-plate pattern on these. I second the "woof" from above based on that alone. I'm not terribly bothered by the rest of the outfit (what you can see of it).

I'd be ok with the helmet as long as it's covered in Buckeye stickers.
Get rid of the diamond plating on the helmet and leave the chrome. I don't think those jerseys are a failed product of previous years, the grey is much lighter than years past. The lighter grey is likely used to match the chrome.
I actually really like the jersey, since it's an actual throwback design (then again, I was a huge fan of the "Stormtrooper" look we rocked in Ann Arbor back in '09--which it sounds like this is based off). But Jesus God no, not that diamond-plated chrome. I can deal with chrome (though I prefer dark grey matte), just get rid of the diamond plating. I can't imagine Nike's crack team of designers coming up with this.
I would be more than okay rocking that above jersey (minus the helmet) at least once a year. Kind of like Sunday jerseys in baseball.
Looks pretty fake and CollegeSpun isn't the most reputable site out there. Personally, I like it, but I won't get my hopes up.
I know the '09 and '10 Buckeyes wore throwbacks, but I vote that no pro combat unis should be worn in The Game.

I'm all for pro combat unis in the game. It will get ours guys hyped up to play. Fun fact OSU is 3-0 with procombat uniforms
It took a few minutes, but I ended up liking Wisconsin's throwback Addidas uni's against Nebraska; they were actually throwback uni's. Nebraska's throwback uni's - not so much.
I don't think the special uniform gimmick works all that well when both teams aren't participating in it.
Please no on the helmets thank you...that's just terrible IMO. Whether you're trying to lure recruits or just do something different - there is no need to ever put diamond plate on an OSU helmet....ever.

I second the no vote for alternate unis for The Game. In my mind OSU should always wear scarlet and ttun should always wear blue, regardless of where the game is played.
Hail doesn't want throwbacks in The Game because every specialized uni Adidas comes up with is garbage... much like the teams they support!

Something doesnt feel right here. I have seen that jersey more than a few times circulated on the internet over the past few years. And everyone is right, that is re hashed jersey technology and style. Why would nike break out old stuff with probably their second biggest star(oregon). I have a weird feeling this is a false leak.
@DONKEYPUNCHANNARBOR - I actually was a big fan of Michigan's throwbacks last year. I thought they were both some of Adidas's best designs.

Everyone is overplaying these jerseys waaaay too much. Jerseys change every several years, albeit subtle, but they do change. Things evolve. Just because they come up with a jersey for once a year to kind of build hype and all signs point to kids absolutely loving wearing these jerseys - then so be it. These WILL NOT be the pro combat jerseys and i'm sure, as in the past 3 years, that there will be an outlash when they come out. Promise you though as soon as they take the field, your feelings will change and you won't give a damn what they are wearing. As said before, 3-0...

The chrome helmet is from some sports equipment trade show, I remember reading about it on Uni-Watch at some point. It's a sample helmet from the company that handles the chrome paint jobs for the Oregon rose bowl helmets (as well as the Maryland sublemated tortoise pattern, andthe digi camo helemts from last year's spring game). If it was a legit leak, Nike probably won't be renewing their contract, so I think it's fair to say it can be ignored.

Jerseys are an unused home version of the white storm trooper uni's from the first year of the pro-combat things. i'd be willing to bet a lot of money (if i had a lot of money) that these have nothing to do with the pro-combats. say what you will about them, but nike's designers aren't this lazy.

O-H Kee Pa is right. These came out during the '09 year and were a first version of the pro combats that we wore that year. I distinctly remember that. Thought those looked very familiar. The shoulder design is what gives it away. They were doing that for most of the pro combat teams in '09.
Walt is 100% right, a couple of those very jerseys have sold on ebay over the last couple years. The pants are exactly the ones worn for the 09 Michigan game.

That's BYU's Pro Combat released by Nike this year. A few notes:
1) Notice there is no flywire (that is the "wings" on the shoulders). That is old technology that has not been used since 2009. You won;t be seeing anything like that.

See how it's two-toned and has those weird shiny parts to it? That is a design trend Nike has been shoving down our throats this year with their NFL design overhaul and with the so far released Pro Combats. I GAURANTEE that ours will have a collar like this.
3) The metal plating used in the chrome is also old technology. In fact, chroming helmets in general is not really something that is trending besides with Oregon. Look at all the alternates this year that are matte. That BYU helmet is also matte. I'm not saying that we'll get a matte helmet, mostly because a shiny silver helmet is our signiture peice, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'll tell you what - replace that blue on those BYU unis with Scarlett & I will be a happy man. Myself & others have been clamoring for an all black uni with flat black helmets in some older threads & that BYU uniform is exactly what I was picturing (except the blue of course).

I really hate the use of black (often called bfbs or black for black's sake) when it is not in the school's natural color palate. I'd be more interested in an all gray uniform before that. But I am also a tradiionalist and don't want to see any of that shit.
One idea that has been bouncing around uniform blogs is that Ohio State is the only pro combat school that has honored old teams with all their jerseys. Since this is the 10 year anniversary of the 2002 championshp team, some thing that they may be honored in some way, using that sleeve stripe as the center peice.... just a thought to chew on

@Rampage - grey would be cool, I just like the idea of all black during a night game. I'm a bit of a traditionalist too, but if they are going to keep doing alt. unis (and they will) I like the idea of something that would intimidate a little...

That BTN link has a much better picture. I wouldn't mind something along those lines, although I love the alternate BYU uniforms as well. I like pretty much every alternate uniform that Nike has put out over the last few years, so hopefully we get something good again.

I definitely don't like them...I personally haven't liked any of them. IMHO...they shouldn't change anything...despite the pay day from Nike. F@#k em if you ask me...stick with the tried and true. Why utilize ugly ass uniforms to try to be "modern." I don't get it and BTW...before I get flamed for being old...I'm 35.

Ah that jersey aint so bad i like it, the helmet looks pretty sweet but those are not our real combat jerseys.. I love when we break out our nike pro combat jerseys it gets our boys hyped we are 3-0 in combat uniforms. plus there great for recruiting actually thats one of the main reasons they wear them for recruiting .. cant wait to see the real ones though . If they're going to do pro combat of any kind, they need to just do the 2002 uniform. Only change that would be required are the sleeve stripes on the jersey - bring back the bigger, white and GRAY stripes. Imagine that, gray on the home jersey. And you can wear the normal helmet with the helmet stickers. In fact, they can just keep that design permanently. I never cared much for the current home jersey with no gray on it anyway.

the "new" jersey stripe seems to be a point of contention amongst buckeye fans. NEws Flash: the stripe ont he jersey is the same as that on the pants and helmet. in fact, it's called the "buckeye stripe" officially. AND it was the stripe pattern used in the days of Cris Carter. So the "2002" stripe is not the original, it's just another variant. as long as you or I long for shiny pants and the "old" stripe, I doubt that Nike is going to unveil a "retro" uni from a decade ago. We're more likely to see either chromed out helmet(Oregon, Rutgers and OK. state's new uni) or a matte finish(Minny, Illinois last weekend, etc) if you are using recent trends as an indication.
Next we should talk about how old cast iron v8's, although less powerful and less fuel efficient, are a better option than the newer 4 and 6 cyl turbcharged options. And how back in your day candy was only a nickel, and you had to walk up hill both ways to get to school.
As long as the Buckeyes don't come out on the field looking like they got dipped in highlighter ink, we'll all be OK.

I like the idea of a chrome helmet, but not the diamond plating. Strait Chrome would of been awesome.
The article pinned at the top was updated stating this was a students idea and are not what we will be wearing. I would like to see chrome accented somewhere in the helmet and i would def love to see black jerseys one of these years i think it would be sharp with our color scheme.

I always laugh when an Ohio State fan's reasoning for hating our Pro Combat "series" is because of tradition. We don't have very much uniform tradition at all.
With that being said, these fakes are really ugly and I'm glad they're not the real thing.

@JakeBuckeye: good point. It's hard to say what our one constant has been. In '54 we had white helmets. Buckeye leaves only started appearing in 1967. Comparatively speaking, Scum's helmets have been around since 1938.
