Fragel and Shazier? Damn, I'm suprised by that. I thought they've played we'll but not at All-American level. Does that mean Fragels one of the top 6 OT's in America? I don't think so..but Phil Steele does I guess.

What a story that will be for Reid..struggled beating out true freshman before the season and ends up an All-American.

Yeah, I don't know about Fragel either. Just getting a healthy boost for holding his own Gholston, and paving the way for the nation's 8th best rushing attack I guess.

Who is Star Lotulelei though, and why does he deserve to be ahead of Hankins?

D-lineman from Utah. He is a stud.

Just because they are All-American's in college I don't believe that means they will always translate well to the NFL. They could be studs in college but undersized in the league.

Great to see some Buckeye players getting some love. Not surprised, except for Fragel. Go Fragel, go Fragel....

Star Lotulelei is an absolute beast that all the NFL Draft experts say is better than Hankins if only by a little.

That is awesome. Remember when he had Bradley Roby as a 4th team all Big Ten selection during the preseason?

Shows what a great job this coachig staff has done and how well these individuals have played. Of course, it's also tough to predict these kind of things in advance.

I am pretty surprised about Le'veon being 1st team.  Usually those big games against good opponents will knock you down.  Not sure who would replace him, but I left the MSU/OSU game thoroughly unimpressed.

I posted last week how CBS has Hankins rated above Star in the most recent big board.  They are pretty close in a lot of draft projections.  Not saying Hankins is better but he has a huge impact on the OSU games.  Teams don't even try and run up the middle on OSU this year

Hank and Star areboth great players and it should be interesting to see how it shakes out at the end of the year. My feeling is that Big Hank will end up going very early in the draft (sadly). The defense still hasn't completely "figured" it out and as a unit will continue to improve. When that happens he will dominate.

Fragel is 3rd team so he is a top 12 OL guy. Which stillisnt bad at all, meyer has praised him every week. Idk if he will make it in the NFL but i think i remember the staff saying he is 310lbs right nkw at 8% bidy fat, he can easily gain another 15lbs in the nfl.

Fragel - So everyone on this board knows the entire history of Fragel but to an objective observer all they have seen is him hold his own against Gholston and Co.  I think knowing he used to be a TE and knowing he was in a position battle with a true freshman takes his stock down.  Most people probably don't know or consider it.

Buckeyejason's picture

^ that and I just think he's playing really well..I don't think he's dominant or elite at his position by any means. Not to discount Fragels good performance but Gholston was Definitly affected by that knockout blow during the game.

If Fragel could transition to tackle at a major power program in one year, weigh 310 at 8% BF (which I do not believe for one second), and hold his own against and all-american in Gholston, who's to say he couldn't be a great NFL tackle? Obviously not a first round pick, but a safe bet as a project late round or undrafted FA.

Simon is third team huh?....

I guess 1.5 good games of football is all it takes to make that list.

, weigh 310 at 8% BF (which I do not believe for one second)

I don't either. First of all, 8 % bf  means he'd be about as ripped as Clay Matthews or Vernon Gholston..second, no one gains 30-40 pounds in one off season without gaining fat.

I don't know if it is true or not, but he is what 6'8, he still does look pretty thin, he can still gain some weight.

I think Reid has shown excellent leadership skills by doing what the staff has asked...talk about buying in I mean that had to take quite the leap of faith, switching to a pos in which he has no exp in his final season... Great job Reid hopefully you can have a career after tosu

mark may wins douchebag of the year... again

Meyer is a psychology guy.  Him telling the media that Fragel was battling with a freshman may have just been motivation.  Also, Golston didn't beat Mewhort or Fragel before he got knocked out.  If that doesn't tell you something . . .

Fragel certainly does not have the gut over the belt stuff going on, so I would be willing to think that the numbers from OSU are not too kooky. And why couldn't he be that good? He was recruited by TSUN and MSU as an OL. Maybe it really is his ideal position. Even as a TE, he said that he did lots of blocking. Maybe he reached that point that Herman talked about trying to achieve with the offense-the game slowed down for him, and became easier to play. He has had to work hard for it.

You also have to take into account how tight/cohesive the starting OL is- they have talked about how they are all on the same page, and play for each other. Synergy might also be at play here-the group is far more than the sum of its parts. Heck, they all lined up next to each other for Carmen Ohio after the Nebraska game. As an aside, by the middle of Carmen Ohio, the whole team was swaying together-usually each line is swaying not necessarily in sync with any other line, I like to think it was a reflection of how the team really has come together, and how they are "all in". I hope it continues.

Here's an example of what 8 % bf looks like.

Gee, where is William Gholston on that list? I guess 1 sack isn't good enough! Maybe he needs to stomp on someones head to get noticed again!

Simon doesn't have a lot of tackles but approximately 60% of his tackles are for a loss. Throw in 3 sacks and he isn't doing too bad IMO. Not to mention anyone can see running plays at Simon get stopped in the backfield, running plays away from Simon go for big yards!

I think the OT converted from TE is becoming a trend in the NFL.  You know Fragel has the athletic ability to play OT in the NFL if he could be a D1 TE in college.  Once he gets to the combine, his speed and athleticism will help him shine.  Plus he will have a lot of room for improvement due to lack of experience at the position.  I think he will surprise most people when draft day rolls around.

He has the athletic ability but I think he gets worked by elite DE's come draft time or senior bowl..if he gets invited.

All we heard all fall camp is how Reid couldn't block Simon for the life of him. He also struggled a lot with Steve Miller and Noah Spence.

I think he's playing we'll and has a great frame and potential at the position but I think the "Reid hype train" is rolling hard right now.
