I've been reading articles and post on this site for over a year or so, but finally decided to make an account. What pushed me over the top in finally making an account was some of my fellow OSU fans who had been so unconfident and scared of PSU all week. Yeah, they won 5 games in a row coming in to today's game... but come on they lost to Youngstown State! It was just really annoying to see so many fans "nervous" with 8's or 9's about this game. Why??? I guess PSU did beat Temple 3-3 (3-4 after today), Navy 4-3, Illinois 2-5, Iowa 4-3 and Northwestern 6-2. I guess their S.O.S. made you guys worried, huh? I think what it was is the fact the Nittany Lions have such an intimidating QB in McGloin... he does have over 4,700 career passing yards. However someone who a lot of fans here are also very critical of, TP had over 6,100 yards and people called him a BAD passer. So what was the major concern over that firey ginger QB up from Happy Valley? I'm sorry, but some teams just "have it" certain seasons. Unfortunately we have that "it" factor in a year we can't play in a bowl game. We win close games and our team believes in themselves. So why can't you all accept that and believe in them?

maybe you should've just stuck with reading posts and not having an account...
it's called freedom of speech, first off. and secondly look back at the forums and see how many users posted a "7" or higher on how nervous/ worried about PSU they were. Maybe you should explain how my post would justify me not have making an account?
Wait, PSU lost to Youngstown State? I think you mean Pitt lost to them. Ohio U. beat Penn State earlier this year.
Sorry, I didn't realize I'm obliged to expect us to win in the loudest stadium in the Big Ten after we just needed a miracle to beat f*cking Purdue.
Also, most of us were fairly worried about the game, but you realize that the vast majority of us also picked Ohio State to win, right?
Nice, just because we as fans thought it would go one way instead of the other doesn't somehow make us les fanatical. PSU has a very good defense, as evidence of that half time score. We made adjustments and PSU failed to execute. So before you go claiming that we are national championship caliber material here remember that we were the recipients of some questionable mercy calls tonight. I saw a lot of holds that weren't called on us. Momentum shifts and the like could have resulted in a very different outcome. I am thankful for the win and believe we earned it. My confidence factor wasn't high before the game but it is starting to climb. If your honest and not looking through rose colored glasses or being a complete homer, our offense against Purdue was pretty anemic. Our defense against Indiana was pretty pathetic. Neither of those teams had much in common with PSU but the struggles should have been enough to cast a little caution into your soul. BTW, your gravy thick sarcasm is very unbecoming. Just saying--
No offense bro, but Penn State hasn't even played Youngstown State this year. Their losses came to Ohio Univeristy and Virginia in the first 2 games of the season. Since those losses they won 5 games in a row and were starting to look pretty decent. Not to mention it was a road game in a hostile envrionment. And OSU hasn't exactly set the world on fire against Indiana & Purdue the last 2 weeks. All of those things add up to fans being worried about what might happen @ Penn State.
First of all, there was a reason some fans were worried....its called being impartial and realistic. Second, make sure you have all your facts straight before creating a post essentially calling out a large portion of the fanbase. And last, what was the point of comparing TP to McGloin? Did you enjoy a few too many Shirley Temples today?
Just because we were worried about PSU doesn't mean we are pessimistic? It means we were worried about PSU. I think it would be unrealistic if we expected OSU to walk over Penn State. Our defense played great and really kept us in the game until the third quarter. Now if you take away some of Roby's incredible plays and give them the easy touchdown on their first drive... there's some reason for worry.
I think we all believe in "our team" and our coaching staff but that doesn't mean we are terrible fans for being realistic. There are teams out there that can and would beat us this year if they were on the schedule. As much as I love the "moxy" the team is showing we aren't invinsible, but we are working on it. I don't think being honest makes us bad fans.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
Being a fan has nothing to do with whether or not you think the team is going to win. In fact, it takes a bigger fan to support a team that you think is going to lose.
In full disclosure, I picked Ohio State to lose today (On another board). I just assumed that a team with a converted TE at right tackle, a FB at linebacker, a DE recovering from microfratcure surgery at another linebacker spot, a true freshman on the DL, and a train wreck of a 2nd team OL to go along with a host of players that are playing hurt would be vulnerable to a physical game in a hostile environment.
Even though I thought we would lose I still wore my Scarlet golf shirt and went to the game watch with the other local fans in my alumni club.
i got pickem on the game with my wagering site... im 1k richer thank you very much!
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
