Ok, i got a question for everybody.... why is it that WRs such as Ginn ....Gonzo.... and Robo never really panned out in the NFL ..but Hartline is thriving right now??
I think its safe to say that during college, these 3 wideouts appeared to be waaaay more talented than hartline ...but they couldnt never make the transition.. and yet he is?? I'm rooting for hartline i really am.... but it makes me wonder why the others couldn't???????
well... gonzo showed promise while in Indi playing with Manning... until injuries destroyed him year after year.. so that may explain that.. but the other??!!??!! IDK
Also... off topic but ... does anybody know the middle names of Corey 'philly' brown ...and corey 'pitt' brown.. i'm updating my roster on ncaa13 and wanted to just edit their names.. just curious

Lol ok Hartline has one outstanding game and everyone is ready to crown him?? Lol I love my buckeyes but your forgetting about Santonio Holmes who is clearly the best WR to come out of OSU in recent memory. Hartline has been a ok WR and had a big game today. Lets see him do it over a longer period before we start jumping on the band wagon...
yes... we all know about Santonio...duhhh.... but my question really pertains to those 3 wrs in particular cuz they played with hartline... point is those 3 were better in college... but if you look at hartlines pro career its been much more productive... gonzo gets a pass cuz he got hurt 3 seasons in a row.... you still fail to answer the question.... why did the others fail where hartline succeeded...if anything i would of said robo would have been the best at the next level

I think with Anthony Gonzalez, it really just comes down to the injuries. When Marvin Harrison left the Colts, Gonzo won the starting job opposite of Reggie Wayne and was primed for a breakout season. Then that freak knee injury happened, Gonzo got supplanted by Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. What was initially a depleted WR quickly became crowded and since Gonzo missed a whole season, he got shifted to the end of the pecking order.
Ted Ginn Jr. was never the greatest route-runner IMO. I thought that after a few years in the NFL, he would be able to pick it up, but he never did. Ginn was always out of place at Miami, and the few times he managed to run the right route he would drop the pass. Now that the 49ers have Randy Moss they don't really need Ginn to stretch the field, and returns are going to be the only times he can shine anymore.
Brian Robiskie, on the other hand, I have no idea. Robiskie was the most NFL-ready WR out of all of them, and ran the cleanest routes too. I expected Robo to be able to lockdown a WR2 position on some NFL team, but he's just been bouncing around the league the past two seasons. Perhaps someone that follows the Browns more closely than I, can give you some insight.
@SPRESTON2001
It's not really just one game. Brian Hartline has proven to be a reliable reciever for the Dolphins for 4 seasons now, and I believe he lead the NFL in "Yards after Receptions" one year (2009 or 2010?). This is just the first season that Hartline has been the clear #1 and he has a QB that trusts him. Four games into the season and Hartline has had two 100+ yards/8+ reception games. I think it is save to say that Hartline is Tannehill's go-to option, and so far Hartline has been rewarding that trust.
I always wondered what might have been for ginn had he stayed a corner.
Dear Buckeye Fans,
I don't mean to sound slutty, but please use me whenever you want.

One big reason was the quarterbacks they played with. Ginn and Gonzo played with Troy Smith, while Hartline played one year with Boeckman and his last year was Pryor's freshman year.
Gonzo should be excluded because of the injury situation. Robiskie should have an asterisk because he started out in Cleveland and Ginn only got open in college because of his speed. Ginn is a terrible route runner and his speed is only good at length. He was a hurdler which basically means he runs better in rhythm.
Hartline has been with the same team his entire time in the league. Marshall is gone and he has a new QB that didn't have experience with any of the guys. He is getting the benefit of building a relationship with a QB before someone else does. This is a big game, but this isn't like a one time deal. He has been solid in Miami with terrible teams around him.
Hartline is the best WR on a team lacking WR. Past years Hartline did absolutely nothing. Now they get a decent QB and he is making plays. Ginn had a tough start at the beginning and has also had some injury issues. He could have been a superbowl player if he wasn't injured for the NFC championship game.
A-Gon just had bad luck and I was never high on Robo. Too inconsistent. Not to mention Robo went to Cleveland.
Ginn - not the sharpest tool in the shed. Never really was a great pure WR just a great athlete that we tried to get the ball in his hands and just say RUN TEDDY RUN!
Gonzo - Injuries (probably would've been the best out of all of them)
Robiskie - Played for the Browns. 'Nuff said.
Santonio I would probably say was the best of the bunch and he played alongside Ginn and Gonzo for a couple years.
Jenkins had a some good seasons in there with Atlanta also. Gamble was one of our better WRs but he plays DB. Jury's still out on Devier Posey but he was a pretty darn good receiver for us as well. We'll see how he pans out.
If you think because of a couple games that Hartline is some incredible receiver, you're crazy. I don't have a problem with the guy and I'm glad he's having a good year so far, but come on.
Its been said above, but Gonzo battled injuries, Ginn to me has only been a speed guy and decent return man but not much of threat as a receiver/route runner, and well, Robiskie went to my Browns where he not only played for abysmal offenses but he could get absolutely no separation from db's.
Has Hartline been a good receiver since he's been in the NFL? No. Can we just wait and see how things turn out for him this year and then see if he can do it next year and so on? We are so quick to draw conclusions and make assumptions and whatnot before we should.
It would probably be a good idea to look at the team stats in Miami. His 1st two years he was the 3rd leading receiver. Last year he was second. Now he was leading the team. Obviously he wasn't a bad WR.
robo playing for the browns is a poor excuse guys.... if he was pro-ready that shouldnt matter.. i dont even think he has a job in the league today period...so dont give me that
at seth... this isnt english class buddy ...why dont u take a seat in the corner... and let the big boys talk

I said Robiskie could get absolutely no separation from db's when he was in Cleveland. I like the guy but after watching him as a Buckeye, I wasn't so sure he would do well in the NFL.
I didn't say Hartline was bad. I think he's been an average player on an average (or below average) team. In 2010 he had 615 yards, in 2011 he had 544 yards. That's not exactly killing it. Unless he gets hurt, he's on pace to destroy that, as he already has 455 yards thus far this year. And I hope he keeps this pace up. But think about it, without Brandon Marshall in Miami anymore, they don't have a big threat at receiver. So it makes sense that Hartline would be getting more targets.
..hartline couldnt separate against LSU corners in college.. but for the past 3 seasons he's been rockin in the pros?? whyyyyy hahaha (good for him thou)
Brutus is........The People's Champ!!!!
Hartline is on a team with no receivers besides Devin Bess. He's in a good situation for him as a player to prove him self with the opportunity. He probably has been busting his ass every off season as well..ever think about that?

^ ...and 4 years ago, did you ever think hartline would even last this long in the league??...say yes and ill call bullship
Brutus is........The People's Champ!!!!
Not when he was drafted. The Dolphins drafted Patrick Turner from USC and he didn't make it long.
Yes. He has solid speed, good size, pretty good hands..and is a tough mouths F'er! Why wouldn't he? If he was black people wouldn't doubt him one bit..and that's the honest truth right there.

It is pretty amazing sometimes who does and doesn't pan out in the NFL. Hartline has been a reliable receiver who's had a surprisingly good career so far. This isn't the first time I've seen his name on box scores, though this definitely was the biggest game of his career to date.
Class of 2010.
I'll admit it: Hartline has surprised the hell out of me. I thought he was just another body at Ohio State, and I didn't really see him improve much here over time. Plus, I don't think his attitude his senior year (when the team started throwing much less) was especially helpful.
Having said that, it's sometimes easier to compile stats on a team going nowhere fast. Let's not forget, Ted Ginn led the Dolphins in receptions once upon a time, and that team made the playoffs.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
I said Robo playing for the Browns as a joke more so than an excuse...or did I? It's an excuse to an extent just based on the miserable offense and many players have gone to Cleveland only to kill their careers. If he was good enough he'd catch on with another team. He's part of the reason the Browns offense was no good though. He's not very fast as it seemed to turn out.
yeah...i call bullshit on jason... nobody expected this from him coming out of school... being white has nothing to do with anything..gonzo is latin american and i felt he was 2nd best only to 'tonio amongst this crop of wr's...sanzii is white and there was no dout in my mind he would make a roster and he did.....#weak
