I am usually a glass half empty kind of guy. But after the win against Indiana I'm actually looking on the bright side for once. We are 7-0, surpassing last year's win total. We have a revenge game coming up next week in Columbus against a team that we can beat. Life ain't so bad, despite our defense!

Ohio State is 7-0? You wouldn't know it by how the fans are acting.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
@ BUKEYEVSTHEWORLD ^^^^^ true ^^^^^^
. . .
but with good reason
Get the kicker off the field!
Us fans are not that excited about being 7-0 because we see clearly that we are not actually that good and an Alabama or Oregon team can easily annihilate us. Given a tougher schedule we could've easily been 5-2.
What is so hard to understand?
The only game OSU was ever in jeopardy of losing was against Cal.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Hail thats kinda the point, it was Cal lol. MSU was one big play away from walking away with a W and if Indiana recovers that last onside kick I dont know what happens to be honest with you...
I'm not nowhere as near stressed out or losing my mind watching them this year but they still raise my blood pressure sometimes and everyone(bucks fans) is happy we are undefeated at this point but there was a lot of hype at the beginning of the year and most people felt it would be the offense giving us headaches not the "dependable defense". It's not what a lot of people expected. But he'll ya I'm happy we are 7-0...I think
Wherever you are, there you be!
And you know whats the best part of being 7-0.....the chance to go 8-0!
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
You don't understand the whiners on here. They walk a higher path than you, me, the coaches, and the players.
To revel in the reality that we are undefeated, coming off of the worst season in modern Ohio State history, have a legit shot at winning our side of the conference, and oh yeah by the way Urban Freaking Meyer is going to be our coach next year...is well kind of settling for mediocrity.
The whiners and debbie downers are the only ones who can see our defense is overwhelmed right now. It is their call to duty to start 15 posts about it, call for the firing of our coaches, and call our players unmotivated.
We've seen this before every time Ohio State has a good run of wins. Wins don't matter any more. The whiners are firmly into style point wins and reguritate like little parrots everything ESPN says is wrong with our program.
Meanwhile the fans that are freaking pumped about our Buckeyes, our record, and our amazing future will continue to be looked upon as willing to settle for mediocrity, laziness, and lacking any desire for perfection.
That is Ohio State.
@ Trig, YOU were one of the 15 posters on here who decided to write something about it basically turning a blind eye to the defensive situation. Its so bad that even UFM himself is now saying he needs to play some sort of role in figuring the situation out. You would be complaining right now if we were eligible for any post season because we would be getting hammered in the rankings soley for how the defense is letting teams like IU make games close.
Just wait for selection committees. Watch teams who play horrible defense but sneak out wins get snubbed by them because that is exactly what happened. Then you will truly see that the flash and style points truly mean something.
7-0 is GREAT. Im glad we are 7-0. But do you know how close we have come on a few occassions thanks to the defense to not be in this position? But you turn the blind eye too it. Like I have stated in previous topics, if the coaches arent ignoring it then why should the fans? All the talk about how great it will be when we go undefeated so we can tell an SEC team who will probably win the NC AGAIN that we will never know who the best team in the country truly was because we werent allowed to be in a post season.....guess what? We wont be able to say that because Bama,LSU,Florida,SC all have defenses. All those teams I just mentioned as much as I hate to say it come into the BIG year one and run the table. And the games they play make ours look like we are playing middle school teams. We are struggling and the funny thing is we have the 98th Toughest schedule. 98th. Come on. Open your eyes a little bit.
You want to talk about how great it is to be 7-0 but you fail to look at the failures on defense. But want to call the people who want to talk about it whiners. Its hilarious. I would rather be a whiner than completely blind.
Everyone is different man. Am I excited we are 7-0? HELL YEA! I got a PSU grad for a coworker and I am ragging on him every chance I get (for wins, not for what happened). But my mindset is different then most. I am a defensive guy, I love defensive struggles. I love seeing sacks, interceptions, low scoring games, gameplanning to the point that if you do not execute on this one play, it could change the tempo for the entire game, and that play is only in the first quarter. I LOVE DEFENSE!
Since our defense has played crappy in a lot of games, I have reason for concern. I love the fact we are undefeated. I love the fact that Buckeye Nation is high and spirits are flying and things are good after the debacle that was 2011. But still, in my personal views, and playing defense in HS and college, and my love for good defense, I am going to b*tch and moan about the current status of our defense, because our defense is not Ohio State Caliber.
I understand we can;t have a 2002 defense every year, but we should be better than what we are. I was so pissed at Indiana on several plays, people took plays off and did not finish through. Watch the replay of the game, there was very little emotion in the second half. What irked me the most was (i forget who it was) the player who just gave up on the onside kick while the Indiana guy jumped and threw it back in bounds. He did nothing. THE BALL IS LIVE!!! WTF ARE YOU DOING!!!! I went off.
So, in summation i guess, we all have different views on how we look at the team. I love the offense scoring, love the attitude on offense, and love the fact that we are moving the ball and scoring a lot, but I am always going to be a sucker for great defense. Show me a team that stuffs the sh*t out of an offense and I will be wooed like a drunk girl at prom. Defense is what I love, and to see it underachieve is pissing me off.
@dubjay: Roby, who still managed to grade out at like 90% and a special teams Champion. The grading system is a bit of a mystery. Guess a special teams TD outweighs giving up on a play and allowing the other team to stay in the game.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
I don't agree with everything Colin Cowherd says..but he's right. Records don't really determine if you're a great team or not. He said Notre Dame and OSU dont belong in the top 10 because they aren't as good as the other teams..and he's probably right.
If we go 12-0 and look like shit in all most every game with our easy schedule no one will respect it or care very much. What's the point of being "AP champions" supposedly if you didn't play in a conference championship or BCS bowl game? Doesn really matter to me..just wanna see improvent and things to build on for next season. Offense has made vast improvents so that's a positive. Defense and special teams are a train wreck though.

yea, did not know that was Roby. Kind of disappointing. Just little things like that man, situational things that we should be aware of that we are not. Tackling. Coverages. and for goodness sake, someone need sto step up and give us identity. frustration on a tuesday is never good. Just builds up for the rest of the week. haha
I don't know why but I am not so impressed with topping last years win mark. I think that is setting the bar kind of low. I like how this team is evolving offensively and will be super hyped when they start doing the same on defense. The criticism of this undefeated team is warranted. It doesn't mean the fans don't appreciate their efforts or are less of a fanatic. The complaining about other fans concerns reminds me of that King of Queens episode, the one where a grown man goes out and shows his little league team how to play and just goes off on them. That reminds me of this years schedule. The easy schedule and a down B1G are the only reasons we are unbeaten. I still enjoy watching every weekend though but I am not delusional about my expectations at this point. I just want to see improvement in all three phases. We dropped from 10-2 to 6-7, I don't think it is unreasonable to think we can be 10-2 or better this year and look like a quality 10-2 team.
Colin Cowherder being quoted as a source to prop up an argument is the kiss of death. He's an idiot. Records indeed do indicate how great a team you are, only an imbecile would think otherwise.
Here's what I would love to see, how most of you would have been posting on here in 2002 when we won the BCS.
We looked like shit practically every week. We played down to our competition consistently. Our offense ranked near the bottom in many meaningful categories.
All we did was win.
Many of you would have been calling for the firing of assistant coaches, benching certain players, and hanging Brutus for good measure. Yet, in the end...it all worked out.
Freaking hold on to your panties for about ten minutes, Urb is gonna get it ironed out. Wow.
I love 7-0. I hate our defense. I do think we belong in the top 10 until our record says otherwise. I remember 10 years ago people said we didn't belong in the championship game because we had zero offense. Only a good defense. That formula seemed to work out Ok for us. Maybe, just maybe, we can be great with no defense and a great offense. It could happen.
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM
Having a bad defense will win you 0 championships. Urban will get this worked out I am fully aware of it but fire away at this attrocious defense as much as you want until it happens. It is completely warranted.

Was Hawaii great because they went undefeated in the regular season that year..only to be embarresed by Georgia? Not really.
Regarding the 2002 team..thats one season..one team that pulled that off in the the last ten years. That excuse is about as old as "Eddie fumbled to so Rod Smith will be fine just like him".
