Shut The Front Door!! I thought it impossible to move up. I felt we might even move down a notch or two
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Texas Tech and WVU are both 5-1. TT beat WVU 49-14 yesterday, so of course TT is ranked behind WVU. As usual, the polls are filled with absurdity, and one of this week's absurdities is that OSU is the 7th best team in the country. I can think of at least half a dozen teams that'd be favored over OSU on a neutral field if a game were played next week.
TTU is VERY underrated. Their defense is sick, but doesn't get any credit because their defense has historically been a non-entity. I'd put them in my top 15, easily.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I agree with THEBADOWL. I have attended every TTU game except one this year (I live in Lubbock) and when their OLine protects their QB, TTU can beat anyone in the country. They still have a fast paced offense that is capable of putting up points quickly and often but the big difference this year is the Defense. Tuberville has these guys playing well and I wouldn't be suprised if they finished top three in Big 12.
Even with teams in the top 10 losing I still thought tOSU would at best remain #8. Nice surprise though.

Wow. Just realized the only two teams in that poll with 7 wins are Ohio State and Ohio University. TTUN is gunna be sooo confused now
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog
Yeah, I assumed they were stuck at 8. Honestly, if they can keep this thing rolling and figure out the defensive issues, the Buckeyes have a pretty good chance to climb the AP. More teams will lose. Hell, most of the teams above them play each other in the SEC.
Because we couldn't go for three.
nice
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Maybe thats why those 6 teams are ranked ahead of us? I'm joking brother and I do agree with you. We're top 20 but I have a hard time thinking were in the top 10 with our D.
I was surprised we moved up after the way they finished the game last night.

welp the ole BEE ONE GEE was just SHUT OUT OF BCS. B1G! B1G! B1G!
If Notre Dame is 5th, we are safe in the Top 10 and I'll take 7th. Otherwise I think the top 10 is somewhat believable.
Notre Dames offense looks like our defense and I think Notre Dame loses @ Oklahoma 27 Oct.

That sure is impressive for a team that has been called "pathetic" and "embarrassing" on this forum by its own fanbase. Yeah, we have our weaknesses, but show me one team outside of Alabama who doesn't have a decently big issue.
I name a ton of teams that don't have a 49 point issue...
@Steensn really? Let's go through the top ten and take inventory of their weakness.
1. Bama- as stated, no weakness that I can see.
2. Florida- struggled mightily early in the season, nearly losing to BG. Playing good football right now though.
3. Oregon- gives up a lot of points, and scores a lot (sounds familiar).
4. Kansas St.- rough in the passing game (112th in the nation).
5. ND- no offense.
6. LSU- see #5
7. South Carolina- Connor Shaw is going to make inexplicable mistakes. See saturday night.
8. Oregon State- no running game. not good for a game that has to grind out.
9. Oklahoma- actually playing good football right now, but has a propensity for a choke on the big stage, and has already lost to a team ahead of them.
10. USC- not there yet. major depth issues in the d line.
I will let you be the judge of what I see in these teams, but right now everyone has a problem save for Bama IMHO. Things could change before the NC game, but I'm not a fortune teller, nor will i try to be one. Our defense is not good, but it will get better. We have almost an entire year before it even matters. This year is all house money.
@JRICH
Oregon is only giving up 20 points per game and shut out a high powered Arizona offense. They still have a tough schedule ahead of them, but their defense looks a lot better then in the past.
Yes, this is not the same Oregon defense we've seen the past 3-4 years. Everyone assumes it so because they still only hear about the offense, but they're bigger, faster, and more physical. This could be the team that is finally able to knock off an SEC champion in the MNC.

Oregon can do it this year. Better defense, but more importantly a QB that has ice in his veins and is accurate. The Ducks look tough.
While I will admit that the defense of Oregon was impressive against Arizona, I also remember the game they played against Washington State. Perhaps I should say their defense has yet to show long standing consistency, not that it is bad.
