I wouldn't say it's disrespect. Our win, while exciting, wasn't impressive. LSU went on the road and beat a ranked team. We were expecting to beat Purdue in the 49-20 range. We're not winning the AP title; it's the pipe dream of pipe dreams.

Still a lot of football to play.  We definitly dont have a top 10 defense.

I'm just worried about getting to 9-0. If it was next year i would be more concerned. This year i am just happy to be enjoying the ride.

I have no problem with it...Ohio State did not play well.

O-H-I-O: 100% right. Based on how we've played, we're playing with house money. PSU might get us, but who the hell would have thought we'd be at this point?

not a problem with me, i am just concerned with the players getting experience and getting ready for next year. i figured 9-3 would be a nice year after being 6-7 last year. i rather see 12-0, and no more losses ever, but that isnt realistic. what a job by kenny, less than a minute to go and no timeouts, he got a ton of experience and plus won us a game. this will be very valuable carrying over to next year. freshman, sophmore and a fullback on defense, more valuable experience and another win. tosu is a top 15 team, top ten? i dont know.

We are still in the top ten, not bad considering how bad the B1G is playing this year(out of conference) so credibility isn't there. I think we will get a nice start next year in the polls.

So? We wouldn't beat anyone in the top 10...

I think we should be dropped down to like 25. You can only give up so many passes in the flat that go for 20 yards before I stop doing the block O cheers and just start to sob

I'd say top ten is extremely generous the way this team has played so far.  Realistically, I'd put them somewhere in the 15-20 range.

oh well, at least this team is building great character by perservearing through adversity & this can only help for next year - when it really counts. Besides, I don't think the defense could be any worse next year.

Adversity build character, strength & leadership. Yes, we should be a lot better against Purdue than we were yesterday, but, that game will pay dividends for this team in the future.

We looked terrible yesterday so I'm not really surprised that we dropped. We're still 8-0 which no one else is from my quick glance there, with a chance to go 9-0. If we win convincingly at Pedophile State that will help a lot. PSU will be a tough game though, no question.

You have to remember Notre Dame moved up 2 spots after barely escaping with a win at home vs Purdue

Poll watching, even when it means something, has never appealed to me.  The only poll that matters is the one at the end of the season.  We may be ranked where we should be, or according to some of the posters on here - over ranked.  Who cares?   The thing that is important is that we are 8-0 with a chance to be better.  I know that is not enough for many here, but there is a lot to be happy about.  Yesterday at this time it sure did not look like we would get to 8-0.   Heck, someone even started a forum before the end of the game asking if we were going to finish 7-5.

I, for one, am looking forward to the next game even though I may logically not favor us, my gut still tells me we have a good chance.  Our prospects may not be as good as some thought, but many of the negative nellies (or realists as they call themselves) on here were predicting 8-4 at best.  Heck, we are 2 wins better than last year already, beating 3 of the teams that handed us losses last year.  To some, that is an improvement, to others, including the pollsters, it is not good enough.  But, we are still 8-0!!!!  We may never make it to 12-0, but for another week at least, it is still a possibility.

Doesn't really matter. We're not going to win the AP title,so this year is all about development and implementation. Its great if we win because it helps recruiting and because, of course, its more fun to freaking win. I'd like to see us get that undefeated season, look more comfortable in our schemes, see some individual players improve, lock down some great recruits, and just generally have fun. The polls dont really matter.

Just keep winning.  Wouldn't hurt to look better doing it, but just keep winning.

We're going to have to see some big shake ups in order to finish #1 in the AP if OSU goes undefeated.  2 loses for most top five teams like Bama, FL, Oregon, LSU, KSU, USC, and yes...even ND.  Not to mention, I don't see Alabama losing period...so that makes the AP out of the question IMO.

If you think about it the polls really don't matter this year. Our chances of winning a AP championship are slim to none at this point and it doesn't help when one of the voters ranked us at 21 in his poll this week. The important things to take away from this season are Beat Michigan into the ground, win the leaders division, continue our tradition of winning,  developing our new offense this year and continue to improve on defense, and developing the young guys for next season as well as sending the seniors off with a great last year to remember.

Stop abusing the voting system on buck-I.8

What do you guys expect after that game? A bad Purdue team almost beat us if not for a valient effort at the last minute. While extremely exciting to watch, we're are not a good football team now. Why should they vote us higher if we look like a team struggling against weak opponents (which we do) !?

IMHO Polls don't mean much to me this year, I'm just hoping we keep getting better, keep winning by any means neccessary and add an additional loss to every team we face this year!

Just win out.

This should be the refrain every year, bowl-eligible or not. Look, ND plays at Norman next week, so that's one team out in front of us (ND has USC left, too). Oregon has both Oregon St. and USC left and then the conference championship. Alabama has LSU on 11/3 and Mississippi State, as well as the conference championship (perhaps against Florida). If I had to say any teams were sitting pretty, it would be us and Kansas State. I know that we don't play on, but going undefeated should have us very, very high in the rankings at year's end for those that care, which I guess would be those reading and feeeding this thread.
