Making Room 2013

How do we make room for all the 2013 guys? Understood not all will commit to OSU but after Saturday night I could see a few call the coaches and say "Hey coach, after that great experience I cannot see myself being anything other than a Buckeye! I am accepting your offer!" How would you tell some of these guys no? Gibson, Stevens, Quick, D. Johnson, Munger, Boyd, Munger, McMillan, and still have Vonn Bell and others. Not much space left and so many great players. Who do you say no to if eight guys say yes? Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Munger's a big dude, but he probably shouldn't count twice against our scholarship limits.

I would have to say that Bell, Quick, McMillan, Johnson, and Stevens have priority over the others. Basically, the staff will wait to hear from them before telling the others that the commit is accepted.

Terrible, terrible position to be in. Which top athletes does OSU say no to.

Something is up because they are still doling out offers to 2013 players. Either some of the ones you mentioned above are already saying no thanks or the staff is still evaluating talent and feel someone might have risen above some of those you mentioned. Still lots of time to evaluate players and who knows what this years seniors are going to do. Still a diamond in the rough out there somewhere.

No matter what, more would be nice, "as is" is just fine too!

I'm less worried about recruiting now, although I know it is the lifeblood of the program.  I think we need to beef up OL and that's about it. It's evident the hate on the WRs was overblown, as at least 2 of them are playmakers in Philly and Smith.  We have Marshall coming in to add into the Hall type roll this year (has been non-existant with his nagging injuries).  The LBers are young (we need to snag 1 or 2), and the secondary could use a safety or two of course.  But I'm not as worried now since I've seen that the guys we do have are doing the job overall pretty well.

Not to say our secondary and LBers couldn't improve a lot but have shown signs here and there of being studs...need a lot more consistency

^I agree almost 100% with your sentiment about our receivers Buckeye06...I feel like we could close this class with just one WR (Quick, Stevens, or Gibson), 1 OL (Johnson or Munger), and 1 S (Bell or Worley) but I have a feeling we're going to bring in 5-6 more guys. I'd rather bank some of these schollies for 2014 with such a strong class of some early Buckeye leans but if we use these "hypothetical" 5-6 spots, I'd like to see: Worley, Bell, Johnson, Mitchell, Gibson, and Quick. That's like a "dream" type scenario...more realistically I'd expect to see Munger, Worley, Gibson, Mitchell, and someone we aren't talking about right now (a "flip" or someone who blows up in the next couple of months and gets an offer). That would put us at 22, which give or take a couple would leave us appx. 15 schollies for 2014. However, I think you'll see some more attrition from guys who won't see the field soon after our season ends.

It is a great position to be in for sure. The offers do seem to keep going out which is why it brings up the question. Do we know who we will end up with? Interesting once it is all over to look back and probably say we were all wrong.
