James Quick Update

Seems as if ohio state is the one to beat in this recruiting showdown. Per Twitter: RT @jbook37: WR James Quick told Yardbarker that he fell in love with Ohio State after his visit. #Juiced............ Also we may be closer than we think for Robert foster? (keep your eyes open on this one). I see him possibly becoming a buckeye............ IMO we finish with: (1) james quick (2) vonn bell (3) shelton Gibson (4) mike mitchell (5) Christopher worley (6) skai moore And maybe one of Timmons, foster, or johnson_____ 24 for this class is becoming a more likely number. We will see what happens.

Great news about Quick... but didn't Robert Foster just narrow it down to Pitt and Alabama this week? Also, if we get Vonn Bell I don't see us taking another safety in Chris Worley, I think Urban would use that spot for another LB (whose depth he complains about) or WR (because he always talks about needing more playmakers).

I'd rather have Timmons than Foster hands down. Seems like a great kid, has amazing talent and zero baggage.

@1stty Been hearing in the pittsburgh area that they are worried about urban stealing foster at the last minute. I think worley commits before bell (who is a prospect you dont say no to). Besides we will have plenty playmakers with gibson and quick along with jacobs and marshall. Urban is known for his offensive prowess but he is a firm believer in not having too many good players on the defensive side of the ball. As for lbs moore and mitchell is a pretty nice haul with worley maybe being converted to that position on the field. @crusher I agree timmons is an amazing player but until he is offered by urban I cant place him in as a definite. It seems that on the johnson front that he is intent on remaining all pitt butttt THE GAME can be a deciding factor.

Wishful thinking, but maybe Dorian Johnson has been saying Pitt all along to appease the Pitt fans, and not hear the complaining until he decides to pick us after the scUM game.  Wishful thinking.

I would love to have Dorian Johnson but we will survive without him especially with the studs in 14. Worley and skai moore will start the domino effect. I see them as #18 & #19....

I find it interesting how Pitt could either get a tremendous recruiting haul (Johnson + Foster) or nothing... I'd also love to see Gene Smith schedule a home-home series with Pitt shortly, so that I can see the gut-wrenching look on Mark May's face when Urbs continues the 'put 70+ up on Pitt' trend for the Buckeyes.

Quick would be huge for the Buckeyes but I don't see Foster coming to tOSU.  Foster will more than likely end up at Pitt with Dorian Johnson unless Meyer and company can over the top impress Johnson when he is in town for The Game.  Having Quick, Gibson, Marshall, Jacobs, and possibly Timmons would be great additions for the offense!

We have finally broken through with Quick. If we can break through with Dorian Johnson this will be an amazing feat.

I honestly think it is amazing how urban recruits players. The only other person in the same league is Saban. Sidenote: I really hope we get Ryan Timmons....

As I love your enthusiasm SECBuck...I don't see all those players coming to OSU.  On the contrary though, with all the departures from the program and I'm sure more to come, you could be right.  After all is said and done, I'd say you could see 24-25 in this class unless UFM and company want to bank one or two of them for 2014 (bc 2014 is LOADED with talent).  Sure will be an interesting finish for the 2013 class come Feb 1st (especially if OSU finishes 11-1 or 12-0).

I just saw Mike Mitchell will be at the Red River Shootout (I can still call it that, because I'm politically incorrect...) I wonder if OU is making inroads w/ Mitchell and this is why the staff is going after some committed LBs/Skai Moore... I think our best case LB scenario is Mike Mitchell + Trey Johnson/Holland Fisher (naturally omitting the unlikely Jaylon Smith flip). And I still think Worley is being held off because of Vonn Bell. But if D. Johnson appears unlikely, I see two LBs, Bell/Worley, and 2 WRs (likely Quick/Gibson), plus Elder/Timmons if we have the schollie available.

Actually I think it was reported last night that Mitchell wasn't going to to the RRS due to school/homecoming, unless thats changed since last night which wouldnt suprise me lol.

Quick is valued for sure. Also saw that Mitchell will be at the Texas-Oklahoma game. Hope the game isn't really exciting and the crowd isn't into it too much....yeah right.

Worley and Bell dont even play the same positions now in HS Worley plays more LB ala Bogard last year for the Ville and will be LB/Star and Bell will be one of WR/CB/S and will do one of those really well. As for Mitchell im w BJ in that all ive heard til now was hes not going bc of homecoming tonight and schoolwork either way not concerned bc hes visiting us for the game and as we all know The Game>>>>> Red River Shootout and its really not even close

WTF? Ohio State has to battle with Pitt for pittsburgh-area recruits? Can't wait until pitt's new coaching staff fails and all the recuits start migrating elsewhere again.

Pitts stadium is about two-thirds full for their game today versus Louisville today. Who would want to play in front of a partially empty smaller stadium?

Ok - great news on Quick...however, you can call me crazy, but I think I would like to have Timmons more than most other WR prospects & just as much as Quick. I think those 2 on the same team would be a dream scenario. This is just my opinion after seeing what the kid has done this year. Absolutely video game-like sh#t! I would hope that the staff wakes up & goes ahead & offers the kid ASAP. I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons for why he's not gotten that offer but I would think they would be noticing what he's doing so far. Fingers crossed....

@Poison

i am with you. Quick and Timmons would be special. In baseball you have the walk off grand slam to win the game. Last night Timmons had a walk off Kickoff return for the game winner. Hope this one gets posted to (Franklin County Hudl) highlights soon for everyone to see.

Interesting. Texas-OU is a HUGE rivalry game, similar to OSU-TSUN in that part of the world. Have to imagine that is a big, big recruiting day, and he chose not to go to it?
