Anyone know if the band will be coming to the PSU game tomorrow?

They won't be there, they usually travel to one away game and this year it was Michigan St. The band probably won't go to happy valley anytime soon. The band was treated poorly and haven't been back since.

But, but, but I keep reading from PSUers that the whole "PSU fans were mean to the band" thing was overblown and made up. I think the band not going is a pretty strong statement. I don't respect much of their fan base after that. UM doesn't even treat our band like that.

The band travelled to PSU in 2005 and were treated with a large amount of hostility, such as fans jumping on their cars, throwing mud at them, threats and fans pushing through the band.

Also, this is where the whole "PSU fans throwing bags of piss" thing originates from, though bottles are probably more accurate.

I was at this game and indeed there were ziplock bags of piss thrown at the band. I was glad to have my PSU diploma on my dash to be able to park in the handicap zone though!

Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012

I was told by someone in the band that a glass bottle was thrown into the band and hit someone in the face. The kid needed plastic surgery to repair the wound. Because of that, the piss, etc. the band will never go back to PSU.

Side note: The band usually travels to two games a year -- one regular season and the bowl game. Since there's no bowl this year, I'm guessing that will go to Wisconsin (and they went to MSU, too).

As far as I know, Michigan State is the only away game they're going to this year. Technically the bowl games are different. They go to Michigan when the game is there, and one other away game every year.

Also TBDBITL 2005 - it will be a long, long time before we consider going back there. That experience was enough for PSU fans to be the worst B1G fans in my book.
