I was checking out ESPN'S Top 150 football players and saw where the receiver Quick ran a 4.72 forty. He can't really be that slow, can he? Are these legit times and most of the other top forty times just fabrications? I don't believe The OSU would recruit receivers that aren't blazing fast. I also saw where the Pa. wide receiver Foster ran a 4.82. Could these times be this year's or be legit at all?

Quick looked blazing fast in his game on espn so id day bs espn recruiting mostly blows

most of those are laser timed at camps which are traditionally produce slower times verses hand timed. I would bet its an old one that wasn't updated kids probably in 4.4-4.5 time
Don't ever look at those times on recruiting sites, they are mostly bogus and you cannot compare to them to the way they do them at college and nfl level.
Multiple state track championships in the 100 and 200. He is fast.
That's probably pretty close to his real time, which would make him decently fast. But I'll bet you ten bucks somehow his 40 time is bumped up 3-tenths of a second when he gets in college. Its the culture in college football for some reason, these days. Fake 40 times.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
I don't trust figures on recruiting sites; height, weight, 40 times, GPA, etc. They could be for real, but they could be off or just plain wrong.
Quick is fast but from what I have seen I would guess 4.5. He has really good top end speed (better than most)meaning he is likely to blow by everyone if he is not bumped at the line.
That time was probably recorded at one of the combines he attended. If you run a 4.4 it doesnt mean you run a 4.4 everytime.
Remington: I bet your right, I remember when Saine from Piqua set the Ohio 100 meter record of around 10.4 but most of the time he ran around 10.7/10.8 from what I remember. Tho with forty yards one would probably only run plus or minus 1/10 of a second on a given day.
Thanks for the imput guys.

I read a tweet somewhere that his track speed is faster than a few of the olympic qualifiers in London. I don't think we need to worry about him. Just watch his film.
James Quick is much more impressive in the 200 M if that gives you a clue. His 200M time would be very competitive in the NCAA. His fastest time in the 100 is a 10.71 which is still very impressive. But definately not as fast as Saine. I thought I read somewhere Saines 100 time was 10.18 and a 4.2 40?
I'd love to see a foot race between Mr quick and a certain
Olympianquarterbacktrash talker from TTUN.Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
He looked pretty fast in the game on ESPN. 40 times are pointless anyways. Beyond the fact that the 40 is run with no pads, there aren't many times in a game where you are running straight ahead, unimpeded. From what I saw of him on tv, he is plenty fast enough and he can make people miss in a phonebooth.
He isn't fast! He's QUICK....hehe Sorry, don't have anything better to do tonight than to "troll"
I looked up the Ohio state high school 100 meter time, it's 10.38 by Saine. He was probably a legit 4.4 guy, if you guys remember he didn't have a real burst of speed more of a top end guy like Ginn.
I looked up Quick's time in the 200 and he holds the KY. state record at a shade under 21 seconds, set last spring. It's about the same time as the year 2010's fastest time in Ohio by Latwan Anderson. So one has to guess that both these guys are fast.

Ginn wasnt really a "top end" guy. What made Teddy so fast was his ability to accelerate faster than anyone on the field. Teddy topped out at about a 4.3 but it only took him like 3-4 steps to reach his top end speed. Man do I miss watching Teddy run....
We took our daughter one time to meet the cheerleading coach and the squad one time so the coach could see if my daughter had the talent to someday make it as a cheerleader in college and it was over by St. John arena by the ice rink and Teddy Ginn was in there practicing running around the track and it was amazing watching that guy run. It was like watching a thoroughbred run! His muscle fiber would just twitch and you could see him just run effortlessly! That guy was FAST! REALLY nice guy too!
Well lets see here, he ran a 4.41 this year, and he set a new state record in the 200m dash at 20.94. I'd say that's pretty fast. And just watched a youtube vid of him running against some TCU commit in the open 100, he finished 2nd but barely and ran a 10.7. He's pretty fast and will only get faster.
Saine ran a 4.43 at the NFL combine.
