Remember all of the crying Florida fans? I thought Urban's recruiting was horrible at the end and he left the team in such dire conditions that he had to jump sheet and leave? I thought he got out because the cupboard was bare? Blah, blah, blah. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those kids, now ranked #2, still most of the ones that were recruited by Urban? I think they are doing pretty darn good right now. Haters gonna hate!

I'm sure Mike Bianchi will blame Urban for the 11 points South Carolina scored.
The South will NOT rise again!
I wish that something would kill Gator football.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Um, Urban had the best class in the country in 2009 and 2010 I believe.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
You are correct Jason...not to mention...look at what Urban did with Tressell's guys in year one. As opposed to what Will Muschamp did in his first year with Urban's boys...I'd say this year has panned out pretty well so far for Willie.

Florida has also benefited from 2 things this year:
1.) Jeff Driskel > John Brantley @ QB
2.) Charlie Weis no longer in Gainesville
I thought Florida's decided schematic advantage was diminished when Charlie Weis left? Funny thing, I have Florida #1 in my SMART rankings. They're winning and that's good enough for me, if I were a Gator fan. It's not who you have, it's how you use them.

If Florida wins a championship this year does the credit go to Urban or Muschamp?
I'm so cornfused why anyone would hire Charlie Cheeseburger for anything. He has crapped the bed since leaving the NFL. He needs to go back to the NFL or just go away, I would prefer just going away, but it's his choice.
Charlie was a fine Offensive Coordinator for the Chiefs and they haven't been the same since he left for Florida.

He can coach the NFL game quite well, he gets lost in college. Go back up Chuckie. To bad he didn't go to AACC after DickRod, instead they got his "little" brother.
NKOHL13,
Do you give the Gators first title to Urban or Ron Zook?
@NKOHL13, by that logic, did John Cooper deserve all the credit for the title in '02 and not Tress?
John Cooper deserves no credit because he didn't recruit Mo C.

FWIW: Gator fans actually do claim that Urban's first title would've been won no matter who was coaching there, Zook, Meyer, whoever.
Because as we know, Florida fans are delusional at best.
To be fair Urban turned Leak around sooooo
I was thinking the same thing a week or so ago.
The cupboard looks plenty full Gator fans!
i got in an argument with everyone at work, defending my stance on urbz being the best coach in football... hes won everywhere, bgsu, utah, florida, and now osu. 2 nat championships career record of 112-23 and 7-1 in bowl games. we r damn lucky to have this guy. i just hope we find a way to keep him more than 10 yrs. ppl are gonna say this is rose colored glasses but if he stays 10 yrs i look for him to hang 3 more ships.
o and arguably the best recruiter in football as well
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
I'll have what's ^^he's^^ having! Yes please!
The cupboard was not bare on defense for sure. Maybe at the QB position but that was because of the Cam Newton transfer and Brantley's poor development under either Urban or Weis. Get a half-decent QB and another year of development for the stud front seven and you have a national title contender. Muschamp isn't a slouch of a coach either. Saban disciple who has built a good defense. I'm sure there were some scheme growing pains last year on that side of the ball like we are seeing here. But they have some studs.
He recruited Driscoll right? As for Zook getting credit for his first title team, that's a joke. Zook was handed a championship caliber program and drove it into the ground.
So I was asking some Gator fans about this and their response was that, the whole "cupboard being bare" thing was not in regards to the lack of talent, it was that there was only 67 athletes on scholarship. Basically, either through attrition or simply not taking enough guys, they didn't have the depth.

Last year it was Jeff Demps & Chris Rainey, maybe Florida didn't have the best season but those guys made the offense go. Both were Meyer's boys. This year, it's Jeff Driskel & Mike Gillislee. Also Meyer's boys. How Florida fans or staff could ever pretend or say that Meyer left nothing to work with at Florida, that's just crazy. I'm glad somebody posted on this subject before me.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, & Michigan still sucks
