The DB in that film that he blows by is a 4.5 guy Div1 player this year.  Go to Hudl you will see The playmaker. He now has 67 TDs in a year and a half.

@ Waycraken

Is this guy really that good?  Everytime he touches the ball he scores.  My first time watching his highlights and it seems he would be a perfect fit for Urban's offense.  Guy seems amazing to me.

You know after watching his highlights again and then seeing him in an interview, Timmons doesnt give me that "thug" vibe at all, which is awesome.  Nevermind that he has freak skills.

I've played ball with football players that "blew away" KY competition. Most of them would have been nobody's playing in a better conference. A friend of mine rushed for several thousand yards in highschool against similar talent of Timmons, he only got Schollys to D 1-AA schools.

I don't care what league you are in, if you score every time you touch the ball you have got some major skills!!!! He visits this weekend and I would bet that he is offered and accepts before he leaves CBUS. We need playmakers like this that can at least spread the field for Marshall and Miller next year. Imagine OSU lining up next year with Jalin, Elliot, Timmons, and Stevens out wide and Miller running the option with a more seasoned Brionte Dunn to add a slice of power to the formation.

You know who else rushed for several thousand yards against Kentucky competition?????  Shaun Alexander. Tim Couch, was a great college QB set national passing records against weak Kentucky competition.  One of the guys who probably ends up getting an offer to be our future QB is gaining popularity for how he plays against competition in KY.

I knew a kid who also rushed for a ton of yardage and TD's in highschool here in NKY.  He ran for between 150 and 250 yards per week, but he carried the ball 30-45 times per game.  He was great, and hard to stop, but he didn't get D-1. It has little to do with the competition he played though, it had to do with his size and speed.  He was only about 5'8, he wasn't really fast, He was stout though and able to bulldoze over people.  He didn't have tangibles to be a D-1 player. The guys I mentioned above, definitely do.  Timmons falls in the category with the guys above.  He has D-1 speed and athleticism.  He'll be a D-1 player.

Did he do any camps other than FNL???? That may be a big reason he is just now starting to get the exposure.  Before this summer and the camp scene and 7 on 7's people weren't that high on Elliot, he had a huge summer and now everyone recognizes Urban has one hell of a recruit coming in.

If Elliot didn't have that summer, he would be putting up those insane numbers he is right now, and people would say yeah those are big numbers but.........

I have not watched any film until i watched that youtube highlight real.  However, from that small sample size i can see why people question his competition.  All that tape shows is that he is fast and athletic but he is not touched at all on those long TD's.  It did not show him breaking tackles or juking people out like we see from Braxton.  The problem is that at the college level everyone is fast and athletic and he is also considered small.  Again, I dont get to see him play every week but if he just gets the ball and uses his speed to run a straight line to the end zone it does not prove that he will be successful at the next level.  All I took away from that tape is that the competition was not very good.  That may not be the case and he may excel at the college level but his competition is not helping him any.

btalbert25 on 5 Oct 2012 - 10:23pm #

Really, I don't know if he did or didn't attend, I'm just guessing that's one reason.  I know he was at FNL, but that's all I really know.

Timmons didnt do any Sophmore summer camps to get the early start on the ratings. The only thing he was rated in was Track as the 33rd fastest time in the nation as a sophmore. He went to two camps that I know of the VIP where he was rated #2 behind Burrows and OSU in June and that was the camp he scored several TDs and Meyer first brought him into the office to let him know he wants him.

Even if Timmons is playing against lower competition what do we have to lose by offering? Hes from KY meaning i doubt hes going to have an attitude or a big head.... Plus  would you rather have him or ty williams or riquan? I mean this kid clearly has speed and skills.... We dont expect a TD every touch but with that speed youre crazy not to think this kid can burn someone deep or get 5-10 yards on designed sweeps and etc.... Speed kills...defenders cant tackle something they cant catch...

I know its not saying alot but every team Franklin County has played except 1 would beat Springfield. Last night Franklin County scored 76 on a team that only gave up 27 against a top 15 team in the state. I think the spread offense that Timmons plays in helps his success and allows him to exploit his speed. I am still confident that if he played for a high profile team and played better comp he would still have same results. He is doing this while being the main focus of every defense they have played. Last nights game the opponent was very nasty trying to rip his head off 2 facemask penalties, diving at his knees. This dirty play only pissed him off and several of his plays included breaking tackles and then accellerating to full speed. He is not a thin player he has strength to go with his speed.

I have not seen this Timmons kid play in person, but have watched his youtube film. This kid is a game breaker. After one week you could have said it was a fluke and the team he played was not prepared for him. Now after six or seven games he is still doing this is incredible. Teams that he is playing have to be putting 2 or 3 guys strictly to watch his every move and he is still scoring almost every time he touches it. Regardless if the competition is not up to par, its still high school kids versus high school kids who have not seen what he is capable of and I'm sure prepare all week to strictly stop to him to have a chance to win and still cannot. I say offer the kid and if he is a bust, most of us and the coaches were wrong. His highlights are as good if not better than Reggie Bush's and Tavon Austins (WVU) were from high school, and they have panned out pretty well. Maybe they played against better competition, but if Timmons turns out to be half the play maker as those guys he will be fine. At least an asset on kick and punt returns.

We know Timmons is fast, it has been proven. We know he has a knack for scoring, that is a huge plus. Despite competition, Timmons is a producer. Sometimes its more about the production and less about the hype.

b_pbucksfans's picture
b_pbucksfans on 6 Oct 2012 - 1:11pm #

Agreed Squirrel but Timmons gets more hype on this site then anyone we are recruiting and he doesn't have a offer! FWIW, Urban was watching Corn Elder last night. IMO, Elder gets a scholly before Timmons. I think both of these guys still have awhile to wait with Stevens, Quick, Gibson and the USC commit (can't think of name) showing increased interest towards the Bucks.

I agree I fall into the same trap time and time again. I begin giving stats and then someone always brings up the comp level. Its crazy and an argument i will not win against people who think that way. For me I watched McKinley vs Glenville? the other night. Im sure they are considered to be very good teams in Ohio and well coached. But my impression was that Glenville had to be the slowest team I have seen. Looked like alot of good linemen but very slow in the skill positions. Im sure I will get people differ with me but thats what i observed. I see many teams having players with 4.4 and 4.5 speed. Small Frankfort Ky school has (5) 4.5 or less players. Franklin County has the same. Now I would agree coaching wise Ohio schools are much superior but athlete wise per capita your fooling yourselves if you think theres this big difference.
