FWIW:  On ESPN Radio's Mike and Mike this morning, said Purdue beats Michig*n this Saturday and goes on to win the Big 10 Championship.

I was saying this a couple of weeks ago, or at least that they had a shot in our side of the division since we can't do it.  Honestly I am rooting for them (except when we play them).

A Purdue v Northwestern Big10 Champ game would be the best option, IMO, since we can't be there.  Though I won't be "Boilering up".  If they panned the sidelines for celebrities at that game, who could there possibly be.... Glen Robinson, Bob Griese, Gene Keady?

Do you have a link for this?

Purdue will make it to Indy if:

1. They beat Michigan- They will have a huge up on cross divisional games unlike Wisconsin. I see Wisconsin winning 1 of 3 while the Boilermakers go 2 and 1.

2. Purdue beats Wisconsin- I don't think this will happen but if it does, you can sign them off to Indy. Even if it doesn't, I don't think Wisconsin will have a better overall record for the tie breaker to even matter.

3. Purdue holds the upper hand in suspended teams- I've got Purdue beating PSU but not OSU and Wisconsin losing to both. If Wisconsin wins their last two games of the season then they will go to the title game.

On the other side who goes to Indy depens on the following

1. How does teams like UM and Neb does against OSU- If all these teams lose to OSU then everything is fine but if one of these teams beast OSU, I've got them booked to go to the title game.

2. Can Northwestern knock off PSU- With a favorable cross division games against PSU, Purdue and Illinois can the Cardiac cats go 3-0

3. Will Iowa play the dark horse- I've got a good feeling that Iowa will prevent Michigan State from going, making this a three team race between Nebraska, Northwestern and Michigan

4. Can Northwestern do it again- If Northwestern beats Nebraska and #2 occurs I've got them going.....

5. Can Michigan win on the road- Michigan offense on the road is half of what it is at home. If Michigan loses on the road to Purdue, chances are they will lose a tiebreaker to Neb and lose to OSU going 5-3.

6. Gophers- Can Kill get a signature win over a program this year and play spoiler. I doubt this will happen but anything is possible if Gray comes back. Shotell just isn't the QB they need to pull of an upset.

Say I'm crazy now but if everything falls according to plan; Michigan, NW and Neb will all be 5-3. Michigan beats NW who beats Neb who beats Michigan. With a 5-3 tie their seasons will all come down to a tie breaker and how they do against the other Ledgens. By some string of luck Northwestern goes.

Purdue vs. Northwestern. Boilers win it all. Boiler up, hammer down.

***I'll come back to this after this weeked games are over but in order for this to work OSU, NW and Purdue need to all win to win on Saturday.

I think Purdue has a good chance to get to Indy this year.  And no, Danny Hope, we won't get used to it.  But it could happen in 2012.

Purdue hosts TSUN, right?  I believe TSUN had them at home last year.  Purdue is tough at Ross-Ade, and could easily stun TSUN.  Purdue also gets Wisconsin at home.  Would be interesting.

Clearly Purdue should be ineligible for any postseason championship games, due to the unfair emotional advantage that Danny Hope's mustache provides to that team.

Oh PUHHHH...LEASE.  Really?

First of all, I'm heading up to the game at Purdue, so Michigan is not going to lose.  In fact, Michigan will win by 13 or more and Denard is going to account for 5 scores.

Secondly, Northwestern is not going to win the Legends division.

Lastly, Michigan, Sparty, or Nebraska will represent the B1G in Pasadena

Purdue probably will win our side of the B1G.  Wisconsin is not good.  Let me repeat myself, WISCONSIN IS NOT GOOD.  True they played Nebraska close, but as it was layed out in the Skully today, Nebraska doesn't play well on the road.  That's the only game we can point to and say well Wisconsin played well against  a good team.  They've also played really bad against bad teams.

Purdue's one loss came on the road by 3 points to a very good Notre Dame team.  Their toughest remaining game will be in Columbus as they have Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State at home this season.  This division lays out pefectly for Purdue.  They do have to travel to Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota, but none of those games or venues are particularly intimidating.

@BT

I respect you and your posts enough that I hope you're joking when you said "A very good Notre Dame team."  Michigan (who's not playing like a very good team) should've won by 3 scores.

I think it will come down to Purdue and Wisconsin in the leaders.

I agree ND isn't great, but they proved on the field they are better than Michigan. In what universe can you watch your QB throw 5 punterceptions and think they should win by 3 scores? Notre Dame isn't great, but Michigan is worse.

@Grosse I didn't mean we should've won despite the 6 turnovers, I meant we should've won the game period [without the unforced errors].  I think Michigan wins that game big 8 out of 10 times.

Well should of won and winning are different though.  Truthfully, with the 3 TO's last week against MSU, MSU should of won the game, but they didn't.  All I know is Notre Dame is 3-0 against the B1G.  2 of the teams they beat were supposed to be about the best the B1G had to offer, and Purdue is starting to look like they are legit.

Do I think Notre Dame is the caliber of Bama? Absolutely not, do I think there are better than what Purdue will face the rest of the year in the B1G?  Probably so.

@Hail yeah and if Braxton doesn't turn the ball over 3 times in MSU territory, we would've won that game by 2-3 scores and people would be praising OSU as a sure fire top 10 team. Turnovers are a part of the game, and Denard has shown he's prone to throw a pick or 4. Just like Braxton needs to learn to protect the ball better

@HAIL - Do you think Borges lets "Robinson be Robinson" from here on out?  I guess the better question is, do you think a lot of his struggles are more execution-based or more because the scheme they're trying to put him in isn't maximizing his ability?  You think that UM gets it going late, kind of like OSU in '04?  I think the matchup with little brother will be pretty exciting, the home crowd should be rocking for that one.  I'm on the fence with the defense, though, because I don't think they're going to face a good one (which they haven't really faced since 'Bama) again till they get to Northwestern and Nebraska.

@Hail,

C'mon man.  You're usually a good poster, but sometimes it's hard to watch our own team objectively.  I'll grant that ND looked pretty beatable in that game, but michigan couldn't beat them. I saw nothing that would make me think that michigan should've won even that one game, and certainly not 8/10.  mich had a small advantage in total yards, but big deal.  Total yards isn't the point.  The argument that "we would've won if not for the mistakes" always rings hollow with me.  It always sounds a lot like "if we didn't suck so much, we might be a little better."  Denard is your QB, and he's always thrown questionable passes.  Last year against ND he threw up some 50/50 balls that came down for you guys.  This year they came down for the other guy.

The best player in that game was Manti Te'o, and he made the plays your star needs to make to make his team the better team.  Denard? He threw four interceptions.

You guys are fun today.  Yes, turnovers are part of the game and you can't assume that points would've wound up on the board if they didn't occur.  All I know is that we controlled the game and even with the turnovers, we lost by 7.  If we only turned the ball over 3 times instead of 6, you have to think that we'd be in a better position to win.  I mean ND probably doesn't feel that they played a perfect game either, but when half of your possessions end in up in the other team's hands, you have almost zero chance to win.  The best team doesn't always win and inferor teams often find ways to win.

@Triv I agree.  I think OSU controlled that game.  They stepped up when they had to after the turnovers.  I personally feel that OSU MSU was more evenly matched than Michigan ND.  If OSU turns the ball over 6 times and loses, how could you feel like that was their best effort?

@Hodge

They need to do something.  Denard has no business being under center unless it's 3rd and 1.  Borges tries to be too cute sometimes.  His gameplan makes sense, but the players are having trouble executing some of the plays.  Their excuse for the ND game was that Denard's timing is off with the WRs.  Denard has never been a good passer under pressure, so it all depends the protection.

@Hail,

ND made mistakes as well.  They turned the ball over at their own 10, but the difference was that when they turned it over their D stepped up, sacking michigan 2x and forcing a long FG that michigan missed.  As far as "controlling" the game goes, well, with the game on the line ND took possession of the ball at their own 25 and drove down the field, eventually and mercifully, taking a knee at the michigan 30 to run out the clock.  ND was the better team that day, and they won the game because of it.

Herbstreit also said Miami would beat Kansas State a few weks ago... then the "U" went out and absorbed a 52 point beatdown. I'd love to see Purdue beat michigan, but just because Herbstreit thinks it'll happen doesn't make me confident that it will.
