I was browsing statistics for my fantasy team and came across a guy who's having a pretty darn good season without a lot of national fanfare.
Now granted he won't win the Heisman, or even get an invitation to NYC for the ceremony, & he comes from a weak conference --- but still, it's impressive what he's done.
Colby Cameron (QB - Louisiana Tech):
2598 YARDS PASSING
70.5% COMPETION PERCENTAGE
21 TOUCHDOWNS
0 INTERCEPTIONS
160.7 QB RATING
2 RUSHING TDs
I think the top 5 now would be Kansas State QB Collin Klein, Alabama QB A.J. McCarron (who also hasn't thrown an INT yet), Notre Dame LB Manti Te'o, Georgia LB Jarvis Jones, & OSU QB Braxton Miller.

So despite everything Geno Smith had done so far even though he hasn't been "great" the last two games, although he wasn't bad either, you are going to completely take him off your list and put 2 linebackers in?
1. Klein
2. Geno Smith
3. Braxton Miller
4. Manti Teo
5. AJ McCarron (because I do believe he is a good QB despite having the best line in football)
Jarvis Jones and Matt Barkley are on the bubble!
I'd say:
1.) Klein
2.) Miller
3.) Smith
4.) Jones
5.) McCarron
*** tied for 6th: Cameron, Barkley & Marquise Lee
I think the most valuable player to a team so far has been Jarvis Jones --- that guy is a FREAK! I know he won't win it, but that is a man.
If Alabama goes undefeated AJ McCarron will be right up there, but I'd rather take Braxton. Against PSU Saturday, that was the best 1-yard run I've ever seen in my life.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Wait OP the list you made, is that the order you would put them in? If so im interested in why you have McCarron at #2.
crazy he has thrown zero picks
Johnny Manziel 2216 yards passing, 16-6 TD-INT
Leading the SEC in rushing with 793 yards and 13 TD's.
3rd in the country in total offense at 376 yards per game.
vacuuming sucks
Every time I read or hear someone say "Manziel" (pronounced Man-zell) my mind immediately goes to Seinfeld when Kramer and George's dad created the bra for men, The Manzier (or Bro).
@Otrain dont get me wrong him not throwing any picks is pretty crazy. Russel Wilson's stats before coming to Whisky was pretty impressive too. Its just that to me it seems like you could put anyone behind that O line and they could play the position. I just dont see him as the #2 on the list for heisman. I think him in the #5 spot is just right. There just isnt anything exciting with watching AJ play.
Manziel was a legit candidate but that LSU game hurt him and he's still got Bama left on the schedule. BUT I agree he's having a hell of a year.
What about Jordan Lynch!? Not the best competition but his stats are UNREAL.
Passing
YDS CMP% YPA TD INT RAT
1984 61.5 8.30 17 3 152.2
Rushing
YDS YDS/A LONG TD
1185 7.0 88 15
I am familiar with him and lots of avid fans are. I believe it is Tom Forde who writes Forde yard Dash as a weekly column. Each year he has a last man standing contests for the quarterback that last the longest without throwing an interception. For multiple people still without an interception tiebreaker goes to whoever has more attempts. I believe he and McCarron are the last men standing with Cameron owning the tiebreaker.
I can't imagine 2 D players going to the ceremony. Not saying they aren't deserving, just they both probably won't make it
Today's ESPN's CFB Daily Show said Braxton Miller is a Candidate for the Heisman and should get an invite, but they said he has "Zero Shot at winning." Charles Arbuckle and some other Fruit Cake were giving reasons as to Why Miller won't win:
1. OSU's on Probation
2. No Bowl Game (even though the dip-shits don't realize that voting is before most Bowl Games)
3. OSU's remaining Schedule doesn't give him a chance to do anything attention grabbing
No other candidate that they talked about, did they say anything negative about. Every other candidate has a chance to win, according to them. So Why is Miller a Candidate right now, if he has no chance to win? SHEEESH!
ESPN's "The Experts" Heisman Poll had Kenyon Barner of Oregon and AJ MCCarron ahead of #5.
OSU on probation and not being able to play in a post season would have no effect on the voting so that makes no sense I agree. But to say that against Whisky and scUM that if he didnt put up monster stats that he wouldnt be considered for it is crazy I think.
LSU is going to be the toughest D that AJ faces, other than that he has had the luxury of an explosive O line that plays against cupcakes for the most part. Miller dropped off a bit when he got injured during the Purdue game. I expect him to be right back up there after the Whisky game and then it gets really interesting after the scUM game.
If KSU goes undefeated there is not doubt that he is probably going to win it. He just has Heisman written all over him week in week out in these games. But Miller will get his invite to NYC that is for sure.
@BHARDY - no, that was just a list in no particular order...although I feel like McCarron will be in the top 2-3 with the token "QB on an undefeated team at the of the season candidate choice"
@urbanwood ok, I mean it would have been alright if you had him there your entitled to your own opinion I just dont personally have him there. I could see him making the 3 spot which I guess would be fine but McCarron isnt someone that Bama cant do without. I think Bama would still have the level of success they have right now, this season with practically anyone there. That is why i just dont see him as a serious threat to the trophy.
