I don't understand this offer. I share the feeling with most of you that we could of had this guy if we wanted earlier in the process. Why now? Especially when we are waiting on other guys like Quick, Gibson, Elder, McMillian, Johnson, Bell, Mitchell and so on...Is Meyer really that terrified of our current defense? I think conley is a great player and would be a great addition to the incoming "No-fly Zone"...but still...

Maybe just a jab to the ribs of the fat guy.
Maybe because he's having a good season and the staff sees a top tier athlete. It's not that surprising, really. Have to make sure we aren't leaving any stone unturned.
like JDADAMS said- hes having a great senior year @ Massillon & Meyer & the staff are thinking big time athlete. I know the ppl @ scoutingohio were really high on this kid. They said he was the best cover corner in Ohio & Burrows would grow into a safety.
Maybe this also has to do w/ the staff thinking they wont land Bell forcing Burrows to be moved to Safety in this class if they can land a good corner like Conley? That may be the reason why this offer went out.
I like the offer. Massillon has some upcoming talent, Devin Smith is from Massillon & Meyer likes this kid im guessing. All hopefully comes w/ a commitment from the kid & helping get into that rich talent of Massillon lol
#Buckeyes
I think Ohio State isn't going to offer someone based on THEIR timeline and will continue to take their time and evaluate prospects properly the way they want to...I also think there is more room now than the staff originally thought.
What this means re: Conley:
If this kid wants on board I want him....very very very good player
I remember being skeptical of the Tracy Sprinkle offer. Then i followed him on twitter and have seen the foolish stats he is putting up week in and week out. On top of that he seems like a down to earth, level headed, Quarterback wrecking machine. Although is but a 3*, if UFM believes than I do too.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
I believe big Hank was also a 3* but had an impressive offer sheet. Is Sprinkle a DT or DE at the next level?
Conley is the truth. Stark county kid I've seen play a bunch stud at wr too. Canton rep has him 2nd best player in county next to 15 super stud glover williams and ahead of dymonte thomas rumours incanton massilon area is he's done with scum n bucks could steal him. Urban loves stark county he knows the talent here is superb

That's great to hear. Also on that note I saw that David Dawson did not commit to Florida this weekend. Think if we could pull both him & Conley in someone would be a little ticked?
Stay away! I'm a little concerned with this one. IIRC, Conley was tweeting just a month or two ago about how he wished he had taken visits before committing (because of Hokes no visit after committing policy). He said at the time that he wasn't considering decommitting, but just regretted not "seeing the other options out there." If nothing else, the grass is greener mindset might lead him astray, but I sure hope not.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Why in the heck did Hail get a downvote? Good, rational comment IMO.
I hear the Conley kid is a great athlete. I would love to have him, and it would be even better because it would weaken 'their' class
I agree Hail shouldn't have gotten a down vote, but unless he states, "Ohio State Buckeyes rule all" I can't even upvote a Wolverwueen to make things right. Sorry, well....
Not sure if he took it, but Conley's official visit to Michigan was scheduled for last Saturday, which was a pretty electric afternoon in Ann Arbor. (There was doubt about some of the visitors, because Michigan with a huge class already had so many '13 kids using their official visits, the staff was worried that there were too many officials to devote time to. Michigan had something like 50 recruits -- official and unofficial -- in town, including 14 commits, plus Derrick Green, plus Laquon Treadwell, plus Denzel Ward '14 who committed, plus too many others to name.)
Today might bring some more Conley news; I am hoping that it may be along the lines of a firm recommitment after a big recruiting weekend visit. If OSU recruiters somehow figured out that Conley's visit had been delayed due to the overload described above, and timed an OSU offer to coincide with a Conley/Michigan visit reschedule, it would have been a cheeky way to make some news...

Hope the no visit policy causes him to decommit. I think what we are learning is that committments before the senior season are sketchy at best without visiting all your options. If a recruit didn't grow up right next to the university and was a diehard fan prior, watch out for wandering eyes.
You say "cheeky", I say astute planning.
I hope he visits for the game but as an OSU official... ;-) GO BUCKS!
Would be a great flip of a "soft" verbal. I tend to think of this movie reference when I think of tTUN actually retaining him when we win in 33 days.

This would be a great steal if we could land him. We need LBs and WRs bad though didn't help our depth losing Southward and Williams. Did anyone hear why Williams was kicked off the team?
@Lougroza....
A jab to the fat mans ribs?
If you can find them with a jab....not even sure a right hook to the mid section would get you past the first layer of rolls
Treadwell did not make the visit to scUM and right now UM has the lead but Oklahoma State will make it closer than the lock hes made out to be. Green's recruitment will go till signing day maybe beyond still think hes SEC bound esp if Tenn gets Strong as a splash hire. Conley never even started his recruitment or had other options when scUM offered and those close say its bothered him he hasnt gotten a chance to see other places. If the wildcard Oregon offers than all bets are off and hes as good as decommitted hes wanted to visit out there real bad and play offense. My question would be what if Shane Morris wanted to take visits? Me thinks Hoke wouldnt hold up to that policy of no visits (seeing as how Morris recruits better than half that staff) it will be very interesting if thats true and recruits get wind of something like that.
You're right OSU07, it would take quite a poke. Heard things today that look somewhat good for David Dawson and Conley as well today in our favor. You never know what Urban might be able to do in behind the curtain. Cue The Wizard of Oz music...
I personally love Hoke's policy because it will fall like a house of cards when a top recruit commits, decides to visit elsewhere, and either has his scholarship pulled or Jabba breaks his rule for a star and allows him to stay committed.
Either way, it will either steer undecided (but committed to scUM) recruits to us and other programs or it will set up a double standard in his own program and make for some interesting conversations with recruits moving forward.
Would love to get Conley and Dawson just to give Fred more to worry about! Both are considered top 100 recruits that can flat out play. I also am a Stark County native and have saw Conley play. Kid is coming into his own his senior year. Dawson is just a road grader that would be a immediate impact to our line. Go get 'em Urbz!

maybe if hoke losses more ohio guys he will learn to recruit his own state a little more
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Why, so he can lose them too ;)
Watching Gareon Conley's highlights, it's amazing to me that they didn't offer him sooner. Hopefully it isn't too late.
