Under 'Legendary Bad Hire':
Ohio State (31). The bad hire: David F. Edwards, 1897. You have to hunt to find a coach who didn’t work out in Columbus. Yeah, you could point at Luke Fickell, who went 6-7 last year, but he was an interim guy coaching without a quarterback and under an NCAA cloud. Beyond that, you have to dial back to the 19th century to find a guy with a losing record. That would be Edwards, who went 1-7-1 in his lone season as coach. The poor guy won his first game, against Ohio Medical (Junk Win), then never won again. That included a loss to Columbus Barracks and a six-game streak without scoring a point. Somehow, the program got back on track after Edwards’ sad season.

Hey if our worst hire was back in the 19th century, that says a lot about our university. Ill take it.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I actually take it as a compliment that he had to go back that far to find a Buckeye coach with a losing record (not including Fick).
Is the "trolling" in the title sarcastic?
Almost seems more complimentary to me...
Forde is a guy who has been highly critical of OSU over the years, and with some reason the last year or so, and from what I gather is not a big Urban Meyer fan either, but I don't see this as trolling. His schtick is to be snarky and give back-handed compliments to some and to be sugary sweet while butt-kissing others. You can tell by his writing that the guy really thinks highly of himself and finds his writing rather cute. I personally have trouble taking the guy seriously.
Not an Urban Meyer fan? That is flat out Un American.
This is in no way, shape, or form a "trolling" piece. If anything it is a compliment to the program as a whole. That section of his Dash was about the bad hires at certain programs. It's actually quite impressive that you have to go back that far...and that was the point he was trying to convey. Try to read the article and digest what was written before making knee jerk reactions.
The use of 'trolling' in the title was sarcasm.
Yeah, I fail to see how this is trolling. He took a bunch of major programs and picked out there worst head coach.
It's hard to take a man seriously who creates his own nickname and uses it to reference himself in the third person... I'm just saying.
Fickell coached last season without a quarterback?? Urban says that is a very interesting statement...
The only way you could look at it as trolling is on some second level demeaning Urban's 9-0 start by saying OSU is always good so he is just doing typically well given OSU's inherent advantages.
