Honestly, the offense made some inexcusable mistakes, too. Specifically the interception thrown by Braxton and the two dropped touchdowns by Devin. Also, ANOTHER blocked punt.
The blocked punt led to a touchdown. The interception did, too, and we were going to score if he doesn't try that terrible throw. Devin left 14 points on the field. Between all of those mistakes, that's a 35-point swing.

Yep. gotta hope it isnt getting into devins head cuz he has had quite a few drops earlier in the year if im correct. brax typically has one wtf throw every game
Devin Smith 2 catch's over 100 yrds and 2 td's
wasnt prety but THEY WON again
GO BUCKS
O H I O is the Buckeye State
They put up 52 points and a punt is special teams, not offense. 52 points is more then enough to beat anybody if your defense holds up.
I just posted this in another thread, but between Devin's drops (-14 points for us), Braxton's interception (+7 for them, -7 for us), the bad punt protection (+7 points for them), and Roby inexplicably giving up on the first onside kick(+14 for them, since it gave them a chance at another onside kick), we gave them 28 points, and left 21 on the field of our own.
Four stupid, individual mistakes, and one failed audible (the punt) cumulitated in a 49-point swing.
Oversimplifying things, if you eliminate FIVE mistakes, we win that game 73-21.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
They could say the same thing for a lot of stuff they did too
I disagree, our mistakes were much more numerous and costly than theirs. We dropped at least five interceptions as well. We should have absolutely blown them out.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Actually, Badowl, the onside kick missed by Roby is only +8 for them. They scored one TD with a 2 after that and didn't give up another onside recovery. Still a 41 point swing.
Class of 2010.
Every good offense makes mistakes. You only see or remember the highlights. Mistakes are a part of the game.
Devins first TD drop only lost us 4 points- we did kick a field goal that drive.
Last night was frustrating. But we are being a little too crazy with how this season is going. We have a young team on offense- either in years or experience. But they are learning and developing. We have over 350 yards rushing for the 2nd consecutive week. Braxton is going to make mistakes. We are 7-0 in a season where there is no bowl game. Let this team grow and develop without acting like the sky is falling.
We won that game last night because the offense played so damn well it didn't matter how many mistakes the D made. Yes, we left points on the board. But we still scored 52, what else do you want them to do? Mistakes happen. Do you think they are nonchalant about what is going on? Rod Smith might not carry the ball again for awhile because of his fumble. They are paying penalties. How about we just enjoy this team for what it is? An extremely talented but young team that is driven to become explosive and powerfull on offense with a defense that is not capable of being great against a spread offense. This is the 2012 Buckeye team after 7 games. I think we are going to be fine.
The offense gets a free pass for me every time they score 50+ period.
Devin Smith is starting to remind me of Braylon Edwards and I don't like it one bit
If the defense made the same level mistakes as the offense then the score would be liek 52- 24.
Devins two drops led to 10 points. They were frustrating but the offense executed well enough to make up for it. The interception was bad but ill live with Braxton pulling the trigger on the run and a dude making a great play.
Braxtons INT was probably a bad decision, but really not that bad of a throw, the Indiana kid made a good play on the ball (and probably has better hands than our entire team combined, sign him up)
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
I've seen Devin Smith make great/superhuman plays this year.
I've seen Devin Smith blow/drop really simple passes this year.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Devin Smith=Posey. Makes tremendous highlight reel catches, seems like he is able to burn defenses a lot, but then drops surefire TD's that should be caught. I remember many times, in the same game being amazed by plays and pissed off by Posey's drops in the same game.
Did we forget where our receivers were in the Spring? Remember Urban calling them out about being dysfunctional? Remembering that I would say our offense gets a pass. They are doing their part on the scoreboard. Now the defense...
The offense isn't going to play a "perfect" game every week, and yesterday we put up almost 600 yards of offense. They did more than fine if you ask me. The defense is where the issues are and need desperately to be corrected by the coaches, or the coaches need to be replaced.
Btalbert - funny that you say that, I actually think of posey as a good all around possession receiver who could also take it to the house (I didn't look up any stats, just from memory). I think of Ginn as a highlight real player who missed normal catches.
My complaint on the interception drive was....Hyde and the running game wasn't being stopped and got them in position to score.....keep running off tackle and get the touchdown...if they scored there is was a 21 point lead...game over....the interception hurt big time.
should be 4 rec 200 yds 3 TDs
