The slow starts are due to something. It seems he is very pumped up starting games. You can see it in his eyes. He then proceeds to overthrow the ball consistently early in games. As he tires or gets into the second half the coaches talk him down and he gets much better. Any ideas?

I can't say I've ever seen him look anything but calm and borderline bored. I suppose your explanation for the slow starts is as good as any though!

I doubt anyone knows why the Buckeyes get off to slow starts. I am sure it is something UFM is trying to figure out too. Lucky for us, we don't play anyone this season that I think that will hurt us against.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
He was on the sideline with Marcus Hall just prior to kick giving him a get fired up speech. How can anyone explain him consistently overthrowing in the beginning of games? Looking for an answer. He looked pretty lost tonight for the better part of the first half.
He does seem to have a bit of adrenaline flowing on some of his early throws, but he never has great touch on those short routes.
"I was so excited I missed a lot of throws," he said. "I was so excited to come back on the field from my injury. The crowd was energetic."
Guess so. He has to be able to tone this down at the start of games.
Braxton needs to work on 3 things in the offseason:
1.) Reading progressions
2.) Putting touch on the ball... Not all deep passes have to be on a line (Philly Brown overthrow tonight)
3.) Read option
We get off to slow starts because every team has busted out their own version of sell out to stop the run defense which tonight was a lot of zone blitzes. We have to adjust our gameplan on the fly since we cant just throw our way out of such situations yet.
Wow I think you hit that dead on. Here is a quote from Braxton after the game.
"I was so excited I missed a lot of throws," he said. "I was so excited to come back on the field from my injury. The crowd was energetic."

I rememberr a couple years ago about how Lil Animal would listen to some slow country music before the game. He claimed he needed something to calm him down as he was too amped for the game. That made a ton of sense to me... I have never went into an athletic competition wishing I cojuld listen to a speech/music/JUICE to get ready. Instead, the challenge is to stay with in yourself and not get too amped. That is why I loved having a Senatorial coach. Obviously 9-0 speaks for itself but some of the slow starts HAS to be an underclassman talent + Brohio coaching. Oh well, it is what it is right now (and a lot of fun to watch), and I believe tOSU is learning *a*lot* that will pay dividends in 2013.
