He had 12 catches against MSU. That is good for a tie for 4th place all time in Ohio State history for receptions in a game. David Boston had 14 in a game for the all time record.
Brown's 32 receptions are tied for 1st in the B1G (22nd nationally) and he is on pace to threaten the all time Ohio State record for receptions in a season. At his current pace he will finish 2nd all time with 76 receptions for the season. Boston also holds that record with 85 catches in '98.

I'm relieved last season's woes are behind us
Sound pretty amazing. I hope he can increase his impact on the field.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
looks good on paper but the kid needs to learn how to break a tackle
Yes Urban was on Brown in his interview today saying he needs to break a tackle once in awhile, especially on those quick wr screens. Urban said that a gain of 6 yards would be considered a "good" play.
Philly had a good game. He almost lost the ball trying to break a tackle. I'm hoping that they can get the WR Screen to work soon. I feel that particular play hasn't been extremely effective just yet. Frankly I cringed just about everytime it was run. I've seen it work for the other teams that we've face so far this season hopefully we can get that play on track sooner than later!

heres to more of them being of the Devin Smith variety
Anyone else notice that our receivers did a mediocre at best job blocking on those screens? From the stands it looked like we were constantly bouncing outside on those and the defender would slip the block for the tackle. Might have looked different on T.V. so correct me if I'm wrong. I also realize those corners are probably the best we'll face all year so I guess I'll take it FWIW.
Greg Jennings "I put my team on my back"
Those screens take to long to develop. That is a long time to hold a block as slow as we run it. Don't know what the solution is but we need to do it faster.

I like the production! Yes he needs to be more explosive/tougher and break more tackles but I'm glad he's getting targeted a lot. I hope they throw deep to him a little more though..seems like every pass he catches is for 5-8 yards.
On another note..Devin Smith is on pace for 9 td's or so. Those #'s feel like Okie state or Texas Tech reciever #'s after that anemic passing game last season.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
It actually doesnt matter much if those screens "work". As long as they get any yards they are a good play. Their primary purpose is NOT to gain yards- it is to act as a constraint on the weakside DE from crashing down on running plays. Just throwing them makes our inside runs more effective, regardless of whether or not the screen actually gains many yards.
Nice job Corey
On the screens tho i think Braxton throws them too fast , the defenders need to be further down feild. when he throws it everyone is still bunched up and its hard for the receiver to get thru. I do agree that blocking could be better and i think it will be in the next couple games.
O H I O is the Buckeye State
I realize he's still just juking high school kids, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what Jalin Marshall can do with those screens.
It is something to be happy about, it is better than last year, but the offense doesn't seemot be producing the scores reflecting of a high scoring offense. We still have a ways to go before I would say our issues are behind us. They certainly are not as bad though, last year was very sad...
Steensn, just to put things in proper perspective. Brown led the team last season with 14 receptions (tied with Stoney and Smith). I feel the need to repeat that. 14 receptions led this team for the entire season, and he had 12 in one game.
Certainly the passing game needs work, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of last year. HUGE LEAPS and HUGE BOUNDS.
The passing game if it continues at it's current pace will surpass last season's yardage total at halftime of week 9. That's compared to a 13 game season with 293 passing yards (1/6th of season total) in Week 1 against Akron.
Take the 12 games that Miller played in last season and Miller will pass his season total for passing yards in the 1st quarter of Week 7.
I feel that we are just at the tip of the iceberg with the passing game. Miller will continue to develop his rapport with Brown, Spencer, Smith, Thomas etc. and I think 2500+ regular season passing yards will be expected next season.
vacuuming sucks
We took points off the board Saturday with turnovers. Otherwise, we're looking at a 30-point game versus a solid defense. We did get the big play and ran for over 200 yards. As was noted above, the screens, for the most part, resulted in positive yardage. If there's one thing to take away offensively from this game, it was that we faced very few 2nd and long situations. Positive yardage that was gained from not calling Braxton's number so much on the read-option on first down. That's something that I would like to see become the norm.
