CBS Big Board - HANKINS #1 OVERALL

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/20457476/big-board-as-some-seni...

Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State: Throughout the first month of the 2012 college football season, the most consistently dominant prospect I've seen has been the 6-3, 320-pound Hankins. He's been moved inside and out, exploded through one-on-one blocks and shown the ability to handle double teams. He's been more impressive despite playing tougher competition than Utah's Star Lotulelei.

Big Hank is just an awesome player! Another one of those "3-stars" that came to OSU with less pub then the majority of the players in that class and ended up as probably the best, if not one of the best.

He reminds me of a Vince Wilfork or a BJ Raji...here's to hoping he succeeds in the NFL like they have and enjoys a great career making tons of money! Selfishly...I hope he stays for his Sr. season but I think he is already all but gone for the draft next year (but who could blame him?!)...

I talk about the Browns needing secondary and linebackers, but I won't complain if they take Big Hank.

I believe it. I would love to see him stay, with that said-if he goes, good for him too. Hankins has been a giant amongst boys this season and it should continue this week.

4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off

Hankins was a 3-star coming out of high school too, mind you. Again emphasizes the point that star ratings aren't the end-all, be-all.

that kid from Utah was an animal last night. Looks a lot stronger than Hank he was throwing USCs lineman around like rag dolls. Reminded me of what Suh did to Texas's oline

He was a 3 star but had offers from Oklahoma and Florida I believe. He's as good as gone next year. Unbelievable talent.

More ammo for why I put a lot more stock in a kid's offer list than his star rating.

Browns will not take Big Hank simply for the fact that they just drafted Phil Taylor two years ago and last year drafting Billy Winn and John Hughes along with having extremely under rated Ahtyba Rubin at DT. Would love to see Big Hank in orange and brown but it simply would not happen. Same goes for Star Lotulelei from Utah.

Dro I agree, stars mean crap..offer sheet should be the deciding factor on grading someone. Jamie Wood was a 4 star kid with an unimpressive offer list from what I remember.

Hankins is a GAM and well worth the first overall pick.

Hope he stays but can't blame him if he goes.

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

As has been said, he was a 3* recruit out of Detroit, but had offers from some big time programs like OSU, Alabama, Florida, Michigan (albeit RichRod Michigan), and Oklahoma, but the funny thing is, he was NOT offered by Sparty, who had a commitment from his teammate and 5* recruit, William Gholston. I've heard that if Sparty offered he would've gone there, but alas, Dantonio's loss is our gain...

He was a 3* because of his weight.  I remember at the time, some evaluators mentioned that the weight issues might point to a lack of work ethic.

He was a Tressel recruit but Urban played a factor in his recruiting (if I remember right).  For a while we thought we had Sharif Floyd locked up but he ended up commiting to Florida.  Tressel then signed Hankins.

He's come such a long way, glad he's looking to make it big. I love seeing kids go early. While I know our team would benefit by having them come back for another year, I love seeing these guys make a big paycheck and have success when their time is here. Shows that we're recruiting well and coaching well when they go early. Go Big Hank!

We gotta enjoy him while we've still got him! As others have said, hope he stays another year and continues to dominate, but very unlikely given the money he's likely to see. He'll be a draft top 5-er for sure.

Before the season, but still amidst "first-rounder" buzz, Big Hank stated he wanted to play for a Championship his senior season...

Granted: if he's projected as a top five pick, he's a fool not to go.

Hodge, I remember that interview and he sounded very convincing about coming back. At DT, Hankins returning wouldn't hurt his draft stock barring a disaster (where as QB's, RB's and WR's, more often then not, kill their draft stock.) He sounds like a young man that cares about winning. IMO, Big Hank comes back to win!!!

I wouldn't blame him for leaving either. That's a lot of money to give up.

I would love to see Big Hank suit up for his senior year, and a run for the B1G championship.  He might want to consider wearing a clear visor after the MSU incident. Give 'em hell on Saturday, Hank!

Big Hank deserves all the good press he's getting, he's a monster on Saturdays and if he continues this work ethic will be a beast on Sundays as well... OSU's early loss is an NFL team's gain! (Just don't slack off due to these reports Big Hank, we need you for 4-6 seconds per play for the next 7 games!)

For once one of our great players won't be drafted by the Bungles and cursed into mediocrity or worse.

Say what? The Bengals basically never select OSU players. And please don't tell me you're just referring to Big Daddy. That was a much different Bengal regime...
