Read on tos that The Buckeyes have the slight lead over Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M. Need to get this kid to campus soon. He has been putting up great senior year numbers I read somewhere that the Friday before last he had a Kickoff return for 100 yards and 19 tackles.

I believe there's a video on YT showing some of Mike's highlights from this season, and I'm pretty sure it included that kick return for a TD. I can't access YT at work.

I really really hope we land this guy. I think of everyone remaining he has far and away the highest ceiling and the most ability to get immediate playing time since MLB is a position of need at this point. Of course that doesn't mean he's going to amount to anything but he has the potential to be an absolute star.
He has visited all of the other schools, correct? If that is the case, we should be able to get him to pull the trigger if/when he comes here. To be leading over schools that he has already visited speaks volumes towards how he feels about Ohio State.
Mitchell doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry to visit.
Mitchell may not appear to be in a hurry with his recruitment, but I think he has it pretty well mapped out. He will be up for the scUM game. It will also be his last of the two official visits he intends to take. Given that he talks to Urban "almost daily", is a huge Urban fan, & that he's on record saying he wants to get this thing over with early December, (coincidentally right after he's scheduled to visit OSU), I feel really good about OSU's chances at present.
If you ain't a Silver Bullet, you're a target
ThirdLeg - Where have you heard Mitchell is coming to Columbus for the UM game? I have not read or seen anything that mentions him coming to The Game, only that he does plan to visit "at some point".
He has been quoted as saying he will be officialing here "in the end of November" so one would assume he means UM
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
As Triv put it he has said he will at the end of November which will most likely is the scUM game is his last official as of right now. As i stated before the fact that he visited Oklahoma and stated afterwards that we still lead makes me less worried about this one. Im not worried about him visiting Oregon either bc his brother wants to go to the same school and no offense to either of the other 2 schools but they are not close to the fighting Thad's in bball. This will be the best combo deal weve had here since Conley and Oden albeit of a different variety.
Don't know how reliable this article (from Oct. 5th) is, but it references a Rivals article that is paywalled about Mitchell taking visits.

Just out of curiosity, and this question is really only for those who referred to recruits like Derrick Green and Josh McNeil, who named OSU the favorite, then drug out the recruiting visiting different schools, as divas, why has Mitchell not received the same tag? Is there sometihng they did aside from dragging it out that made them divas that doesn't apply to Mitchell? Is it the speculation that Mitchell is dragging his out due to his dad's influence?
I suppose I'm going to be dumped on for this question, which I am ok with, but as someone who was impressed with the highlights of both of the previous mentioned, I'm just curious to the reasoning behind the different treatment. A preemptive thanks to those who will answer without resorting to bucknut-esque name calling.
I believe most people got fed up with Green listing a new school on top each time he took a visit. The diva tag is given to the recruits who aren't sure of their decision, and continually let the media know that they haven't made a decision yet. Mitchell stays away from the media and keeps his name out of the news aside from the occasional interview.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Makes sense ... thanks Triv
Getting Mitchell would be big for this 2013 class as we still havnt gotten a commitment from any LB's in this class. I would like to get Mitchell & Trey Johnson & steal Courtney Love away from Nebraska for our 2013 LBs
Im not counting Lewis as a LB, as I think he will be a rush end.
#Buckeyes
Ralebucki, i said the same thing a few weeks ago. everybody says he's a good kid and all and that he just wants to take a visit before he commits, which is completely reasonable. but no need to come out and state that there's a good chance that you could commit within a few days then back out of it. if it's your father holding you back and making you take a visit then maybe he should have talked to his dad before making such comments. im sure he's a good kid and has a lot of people in his ear, just not sure why he's not labeled in the same category as the athletes you named.

I know the position is supposed to be "thin" but lets not forget we have Williams, Perkins, Perry, and Marcus from last year. I think we would be ok with 2 LB's in this class and we are still working on some kids. I think Love or McMillian could flip. If the Buckeyes continue to play well and end up 10-2 or better I think you could see a lot of kids start to take interest. From 6-7 to 10-2 is a pretty good turn around.
^Especially with some of the potential in 2014's class I say no more than 2.
