I figure since so many people are posting in the forum about todays game, maybe I should too. The first quarter was embarrassing, hence the title of this post. One can only hope Braxton Miller is ok, as I do. But I think it's safe to say he lost the Heisman today. Unless Geno Smith & Collin Klein have terrible games today. He posted his lowest totals of the season across the board: (9-20, 113yds, INT) & (12att, 47yds, 3.9avg, TD). It looked like he was really about to get something going on that last run, but there was some funny business going on today I think. Lots of things were just going wrong & out of our control. That fumble should have been reviewed because Braxton was clearly down. Kawaan Short & his late hit on Braxton, & that last tackle where Miller just got dragged down onto his head. I officially hate Purdue, they join Illinois, Wisconsin, & Michigan as the walking abortions of the Big Ten in my eyes after this game. Atleast Carlos Hyde did good today.
Note: I hope people don't look at this & think I'm not concerned for Braxton Miller's health simply because I'm pointing out the severe hit his Heisman campaign took today, because I know I'm bound to get atleast one person who says it. I just figure the "prayers for Braxton" posts are really starting to fill up the forum already. I'm simply being realistic, I hope the dude will be ok & I'm all for sitting him out next week. We won today, but it cost allot to get that win, & we seriously have some issues to sort out. Also, I may be crazy, but the defense looked better today. But I'm not gonna give them much credit, I saw too many big plays. It's even worse when you start off the game by giving up a big play.

I didn't think the tackle that hurt Braxton was dirty. He grabbed by his jersey and swung him down. There was no horse-collar. He was losing his ballance and got thrown to the ground hard and awkwardly, but there wasn't anything dirty or malicious about it.
Yeah I spoke too soon, it's just hard not to be slightly angry when your guy gets hurt.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere, & Michigan still sucks
That hit is the reason why the horse collar penalty was invented. And it went uncalled. Absolutely terrible. I'm usually one to defend the officials, and that's saying a lot since I'm a Packers fan(!!!), but the officiating today was bad. Also, agreed 1000% on the Purdue hate.
Anyways, as for it being a "bad day," I disagree. We came together as a team. The end of this game was more fun than the Wiscy game last year. This is why I love being a student here, among a million other reasons.
We know how to deal with adversity now. There's been a lot of adversity so far, sure, maybe too much, but still. This is the 2002 team all over again, and next year, we'll be a LOT better. And in 2014, we'll be national title frontrunners IMO.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
He was slowed by grabbing him around the collar. He was slammed down by his jersey but still was slowed to tackling position by the defender grabbing his shoulder pads.
I don't think it matters if the the runner is slowed, it's still a horse collar. I've seen it called that way many times. So I'd have to see wording from the rule book that states otherwise. The Purdue player was behind Miller, grabbed his jersey from behind near Miller's neck and pulled him down. Doesn't matter what happened immediately before that. It was a missed call.
I agree with you Penult. I think it was a penalty. Didn't say it in my post above but that is what I was getting to, just didn't.
Bad day for OSU?
