Macks a terrible coach Idk how he doesn't win the Big 12 every year and a BCS game with the talent he brings in annually. He pretty much has the first pick on any player in the state of Texas.
Down here in TX, we always tell Mack to "keep winning those recruiting national championships!"
There is no way with the talent that is in this state and the number of elite prospects that want to come play in Austin that Texas should not be competing for the NC every year, a la Bama.
Only now, some of the elite recruits who would normally commit to Texas their junior year sense the end may be near for Mack and are looking at OU (which is normal), LSU (not normal), and other SEC schools (definitely not normal).
Honestly, he probably the best coach Texas has had since late 60's-70. They've always been able to have insane recruits, and outside of 2005 and a couple BCS games they really have underachieved quite a bit. I remember thinking in 2005, Texas is never "for real" they always get huge recruiting classes, get ranked very highly and then proceed to do nothing great. In my mind, Texas is doing exactly what they always did before Vince Young and Colt McCoy had they 4 really good years total(McCoy's first year they weren't that great).
Maybe Texas talent is overrated? High School rankings are largely unfair and innaccurate which skews the ideas that Texas has better recruits than every other state when they end up losing to schools that recruit other states or pick up the trash that Texas didn't want (i.e. Drew Brees)
"I like to kick Michigan's ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all out of gum."
I had a friend tell me that John cooper didn't care to recruit Texas very hard because the skill set is developed at such a young age. Meaning that a high school senior who is phenomenal for a high school senior, is as good as he'll ever be. Not sure how true that is, but it would make sense for them to win recruiting national championships and not much else.
Mack Brown is to Texas as Joe Poo was to State Penn. Time to hang up the whistle Mack, or maybe not. Keep dragging UT down. Those big time recruits might start looking to Columbus for their new home.
Mack's a great coach, there are probably 120 teams in the FBS that would kill for a coach of his caliber.
Brown is a turrible coach. I agree with this thread, thank god we aren't Texas.
@SWAG, Seeing as there are only 119 FBS schools that don't already have him as a coach, I'd call your assertion a bit off.
everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but count me in on the mack brown is bad wagon
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again

I think Mack will be gone in the next 2-3 years.

I don't think he's a bad coach, I just think he's vastly overrated by ESPiN.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless.
Texas, Georgia really know how to coach down talent
Wherever you are, there you be!
Yes, but at least he's consistent.
Mack Brown a.....good.....coach............?
This thread is hazardous to my health.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Just wait till they follow-up Brown with Les Miles, the lulz will be numerous and ever-flowing.
Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Texas Christian are all currently ranked ahead of Mack Brown's Longhorns. Not sure if any of them would give Brown a job.

Mack Brown - doing less with more for so many years. If it weren't for VY, he'd have no national titles and who knows if he'd even still be there.
Class of 2010.
