As a long time fan of calssic unis I'm starting to have a change of heart, not an Oregon change of heart but I kind of like how we have been changing it up for tsun the last few years. I hated it at first, but I loved the white unis 3 years ago. As much as I love the scarlet and grey they aren't as classic as some of the others (PSU, Alabama, UGA etc) because ours have changed over the years (buckeyes leaves getting smaller, numbers being changed on the shoulder pads, shiney grey pants etc). I just have this feeling that some pencilhead at Nike is imagining unis for teams and sometimes they get it right (Rutgers) and sometimes they get it wrong (Wisconsin) without the imput of the fans.
If you had a choice what would you do to the bucks unis? Keep them the same, change for a game, change all-together, change per game?
For one game I would love to see chrome replace grey on the helmets, pants jerseys, shoes etc. everything else staying the same. I think it would keep true to the classic look but would have a pretty tough edge.
Like the uni's. One thing I think could use some revamping is brutus. I love brutus , but he could have less of a cartoonish face. Little more serious would work.

I was buying what you were selling until the full grey option. Nothing worse than the OK State greys. WVU and Wyoming's greys are pretty good.
I would love for OSU to have an alternate gray jersey.

Now, imagine this with predominant Scarlet accents (instead of the blue) and black replacing the yellow piping, black numbers (with scarlet piping), a Scarlet stripe flanked by two smaller black stripes on the sleeves and the pants, shoulder numbers, and the complete omission of the vertical stripes on the top. I'll admit that Oklahoma State's grey jerseys were made of suck, but these prove that the concept shouldn't be merely limited to collegiate basketball--especially since we can actually lay claim to the main color.

Do we know what the uniforms are going to look like for the Scum game this year? Black, Chrome and Scarlet would be awesome.
Hodge - I agree but I'm not a fan of the stripes on the WVU unis, reminds me of Miami. Change those for our stripes and I'm in.
I think these should be our alternate Unis for tsun this year.

Black might be cool, but I would much rather see an all grey uniform. Just about every school could pull off an all black alternate, but grey is one of our school colors! I've been a huge fan of the grey fade to scarlet cleats that the bucks have been wearing recently, that could make for a sharp looking jersey

Two points mentioned above I agree with:
1) Brutus needs to be revamped as well. This is the only actual depiction/logo of Brutus I enjoy because he doesn't look like a wuss and looks pissed off.
2) All gray uniforms would be AWESOME. Ohio State is Scarlet & Gray, please use the school colors in the uniforms please. If we had something similar to the basketball team's gray alternates with a red helmet, that would be amazing.

No i think we should wear black chrome helmets with a big red block O . that would be tight man. I do like the idea of a black uniform but not that one ^ .. I would like a dark gray jersey with some black and scarlett .. That would be nice too

why? why the black? because it looks "cool"? It's unoriginal and lazy design-wise. Why do we need to "black-out" big opponents in night games? We already basically "scarlet-out" the stadium and its not like we need the the 'Shoe to be any more intimidating in big time games... just silly

Bring on any new uniforms for big games regardless if they are ugly or not. No one knew who Oregon was until people started commenting about their ugly uniforms. It's a way to get more exposure to recruits. It seems to be what they want.
As far as Brutus he needs a serious make-over. He is way too wimpy looking. He needs some muscles, abs, and a tougher looking face.
What would you try and change Brutus to? He's one of the most iconic mascots in the nation. The last thing we want to do is get something creepy like Bucky.

Re: Brutus, I read an editorial in Ohio Magazine about redesigning him: the writer said, "Should he have fangs? You're damn right he should have fangs, and scissor hands for slicing opponents' throats. Leave the kiddies at home; this is football, let's build some character."
This is all I ever think about whenever someone mentions mascot redesigns, or Brutus in general. It would be pretty badass, though.
I guess you can call me a traditionalist then. (While picturing an Edward Cullen/Scissorhands Brutus is hilarious) There are just some things that aren't meant to be changed, and this guy is one of them.

The uni changes don't bother me at all. I am kind of partial to the flat colored helmets-but I don't think the gray would look good flat. It would look like cheap primer.
Anyways, I like the idea of trying to do an Iconic version. The Block "O" unis would look awesome in a couple different color combinations. I don't dislike the chrome, but I don't really care about it either.

I'm sure there's more than one Brutus head, but it needs some reconditioning at a minimum.

They should also have vents in the Brutus uni. The guy in the picture is sweating something serious.

I like the alternate unis so far. I wouldn't mind something sinister looking, with some sort of black/grey scheme with some scarlet, and go with a flat grey helmet, and put them buckeye stickers on there!!! And don't do the alternate unis for a B1G opponent. Utilize newly beefed up OOC schedule. Chances are one out of those 4 schools would be down to match up against us with alternate unis of their own.

I think a Brutus upgrade would be cool. as long as it was done properly and not gaudy or lame. i mean look at the evolution of the Brutus in general, tweaking and reformatting him is part of the tradition itself.
On a slightly different note..... The thing I really like about Brutus (and several other mascots too) is with the way the outfit, costume, suit or whatever you want to call it is put on, you can't tell if it's a guy, a girl, black, white, hispanic, klingon, sand person or whatever. It gives just about anyone a chance to be Brutus and experience what its like to make tons of people happy anywhere they go. I just think that's cool. Compared to some other mascots like ND or USC where its kinda one dimensional. As usual I'm probably stating the obvious, but it's just something I dig.
NOTE: I am not trying to start a political argument or anything like that. So don't even think of trying to use this as a springboard into a conversation like that.

I would like to see darker grey pants for the away uniforms. The light grey ones look too white on TV. Keep the helmets as is. (especially when they are shining under the lights!) They are one of the most recognizable ones in CFB.

No black ever. Please. My radical idea is to switch all the black to navy like the state flag and our band, but tey never will. Grey alternate if we have to. Also, bring back the XL shoulder numbers, those were so unique and scrramed "Ohio State." I loved the white socks with the road uniforms, we should do that at home or wear red ones.

I'll refrain from commenting on Brutus, but on the subject of mascots, Penn State desperately needs to make a new Nittany Lion suit. I'm pretty sure that raggedy thing is the original from before JoePa's time. I can only imagine the smell inside that tattered cat.

I agree Hail. That thing looks rapid at best. I've seen healthier looking barn cats. At least the suit should be sprayed for fleas.
Brutus needs to stay the same. He is iconic and instantly recognizable. A small tweek is ok, but lets not mess with a great thing.
I think an all chrome helemt with the "Buckeye Stripe" and all of the helmet stickers would look really cool. Once a year wearing an alternate uni is fine, but let's not turn into Oregon and become a gimmick.
