I'm not sure if anyone see's the potential problem brewing with Boren being moved to MLB and getting playing time over Klein/Grant? Klein not so much becasue he is a senior on a second chance but Grant was the top LB in the nation coming out of High School 2 years ago and I'm sure he is gonna feel slighted that a guy that hasn't played LB since High School is going to start over him. I know personally that would be a bit of a slap in the face. We all know Curtis Grant hasn't played up to the expectations of Urban Meyer and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he is gone after this season. Anyone else see this angle?

Urban has a simple philosophy: Perform, or you won't play. There are no 'maybes'... I really hope Grant has an epiphany like Rod Smith/Kenny Guiton have, but if he doesn't, he's not going to play given the terrible performances he's put on the field to this point...
Your right he needs to be pissed off! Pissed off at himself, because he was basically given the starting MLB position in the spring, and he didn't make the best of that opportunity. The benefit of this move possibly because I don't like it all. Is the LBs we are recruiting have to feel if they're willing to start/play a FB, the starting FB at LB then they will be given the chance to come right in and play. Something is needed to maybe light a fire under C.Grants a**!!!
I've been saying for a while now that they should convert Grant to DE where he won't have to think as much. It could be a win-win snenario for everyone since pretty much the entire DL is gone after the season
Have to question a downvote for my previous post... It is the truth. Listen to Urban's weekly call-in show (Thursdays at noon the 97.1), he's not blowing smoke. If you don't play well, he's going to play someone else. I want C. Grant to succeed as much as anyone does, but as Rod Smith has shown, sometimes guys don't buy into the program immediately, and if a linebacker like Shazier can record 59 tackles, there's no reason an MLB can't record at a minimum 5 tackles per game... I can't even recall if Grant had a game w/ 3 tackles...
I have no problem with it. As stated already, perhaps this is the spark the young man needs to wake up. I also like the Coach Meyer doesn't feel an obligation to play certain players. Coach Tressel was dedicated almost to fault for upperclassmen and they all need to learn that it is performance, not a pecking order that gets you playing time. How that is still a mystery to some of these kids is amazing, but it is the first year and there will be growing pains.
I'm not suprised one bit..I said it before the season that it was odd that Grant didn't see the field at LB last year during that abortion of a LB crew last year.."the light hasn't come on yet"..please! Shazier seemed to so just fine last season..very impressive especially since he played DE in h.s.
When you're supposedly a "can't miss" recruit..you don't sit the bench all year when your LB crew stinks and your team is 6-7. He must really just not be that good..I remember watching his h.s film and thinking there was nothing special besides a big bodied athletic kid. Sometimes that doesn't mean much.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
At 6'3'' 235ish he could play Viper, but I think he will work out at OSU one way or another.
@1stYrBuckIClub Someone totally misused the downvoting system . Not cool, especially when you had a good post.
Urban has always been very good at getting rid of people he doesn't want around. If Grant goes it is just another on the list.
We apparently have a couple trollers or people who don't realize that you don't downvote if you disagree with the post. You should only be downvoted when you break the board posting guidelines.
Upvoted those who were downvoted for no reason.
In warmups, Boren ran with the D the whole time.
Seth4bucks I think I just down voted (and up voted) the same post, ironically you talking about down voting. My bad, fat fingers on an iPad.
Grant's arms are prob too short for DE. And if he transfers, can anyone remember a guy leaving OSU football and destroying worlds at another school? I'm drawing a blank. If he can't develop here with the intensity and attention to detail of our coaching staff, I'm not too worried about him leaving. Maybe he needs a lower pressure environment to get unlimited reps?
Who gives a flying s#*t about frickin up votes and down votes. Are you gonna sleep better at night because you got your up vote???
If you're an athlete and competitor, you take this as motivation to get better. If you hang dog/mope when you get benched, then you don't have the heart to be a good player.
Yeah, Zach Boren is in there! Let's see what he can do. He looks comfortable out there and is making tackles.:)
I'd transfer from the sheer embarrassment of having an offensive player moved into my position. Then I set on the bench while the guy gets reps? You might as well tape a sign that says "I suck at my position" on the back of the my jersey. I see the angle.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Yeah, coach isn't messing around. What does that say about Cameron Williams and Joshua Perry. Maybe they are playing some too, I just haven't seen them in there.
