First I want to say this is my first post ever on Eleven Warriors and it feels great.
My question is about the three star recruits we currently have committed. According to ESPN Darron Lee, Tyquan Lewis, Tracy Sprinkle, and Tim Gardner are all three star prospects (I left out Johnny Townsend because kickers are always judged on a different scale). Which prospect from the group above do you feel will be elevated to four star status before National Signing Day?
I know some of them are already rated four stars by other recruiting sites (i.e. Rivals and Scout). How close do you feel these guys are to being elevated?

Tracy Sprinkle and Tyquan Lewis are both the best bet for betting that 4th star. Both are defensive studs with great stats.

The star system is overrated IMO

Personaly I'm a big fan of Darron Lee. He's a hometown guy who worked his butt off to get an offer. While his actual star level might not end up being elevated I think (and hope) he'll work hard and play like a 4 or 5 star.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
I think they are all quality players, regardless of their stars or rankings. I don't care if they get elevated or not. It doesn't really matter. What really matters is, a.) are they a quality player, and b.) do they fill a need that we have on the team.
Besides, there have been many 3* recruits who have gone on to do great things in Scarlet & Gray.
I think we expect every kid to play like a 4 or 5-star. That's what our quality coaching staff is for!
speaking of 3 star recruits. Who would have thought out of all the middle linebackers to come out of OSU, James Laurinaitis would be the best of them all in the NFL? Talk about your 3 stars to shine! He is owning that St Louis defense right now. Rolle has impressed me too in the NFL as well as what he did at OSU.
I say Lee makes the move to 4 star but I bet he comes in like a 3 star with something to prove!
No offense, but out of all the thread topics you can start..this was on the top of your mind?

Huge Darron Lee fan, makes me think Verlon Reed almost. Kid just seems like a very good athlete, hard nosed worker, well mannered kid. I hope Urban continues to find guys like him and Eze-E
3 stars have worked better for Ohio State then anything else...
wasn't Troy Smith a 3 star

We may not love the star system and some may purport to ignore it, but there are a number of well-visited sites that make their living off of it, so there must be something there. That said, Sprinkle gets his fourth, Lewis solidifies the one he already has (on some sites anyway), and Lee comes in under the radar at three. Next year at this time, of course, it won't matter.

All Rivals 3*. I will say this, there aren't a lot of 5* that miss unless they are hurt (see Mike D'Andrea), but oftentimes it seems 3* and 4* are largely interchangeable.

If someone else chimes in with "you know star rankings don't mean anything" I am going to throw up...
Tyquan is a 4 star on rivals and he just received his 4th star on scout not too long ago
I'll take a 3-4 star athlete with 5 star leadership skills anyday....I know..."aw shucks" :)

The star system really overlooks some of the kids from poorer families who can't attend 5 different camps in the summers. Or even studs like Bosa who just doesn't give a damn about that crap. The star services number one job is to sell subscriptions. Sprinkle and Lewis will be beasts. I won't be surprised to see Lee become a Hines type player.
