Can someone explain what West Virginia has done to earn their top-10 ranking? I'm not being sarcastic; I'm speaking from genuine ignorance here. I honestly have no idea why they are ranked so high. Please explain. Thanks in advance.

Returned most of a team that scored over 70 in a BCS game, and have done nothing to look like they're slowing down. Also have a Heisman frontrunner at quarterback.
Because of what they returned from last year, a year in which the ended the season by hanging 70 points on Clemson. Oh, and this guy named Geno Smith.
Geno Smith is tough (top 3 QB in the upcoming NFL draft), but I don't know anything about the rest of the team. In my opinion they're in the Top 10 because there really isn't a Top 10 this year.
UA is great, LSU, OU, FSU, and Clemson are good--everyone else is mehhh at best this year imo (I'm probably one of the few people who still isn't that impressed with Oregon). The top 25 is just abritrary this year outside of the top 10, outside of the top 5 even some may argue.
I'm confused now.
WVU is top 10 because the scored 70 in their Bowl Game (I watched it, and they could have scored 100) and return alot of those players
AND
Clemson is also top 10 because they gave up those 70 points in that Bowl Game and return most of those players
????
we were ranked top 25 simply for hiring Urbz. Is it so hard to imagine?

Who would you put in front of them to keep them outside of the top 10? Is there truly a clear team outside of the top 10 who you could see being placed in there cause I dont see it. And I would be happy to have WVU in that position because if they can find a way to run the table in their schedule they can possibly make it to the dance if OK, FSU or Oregon cant find a way. Anyway to keep an all SEC national championship game from happening again im OK with.
Both teams mentioned above are overrated. Clemson has no defense and WVU doesn't either (of course neither does OSU at this point...at least not an all around "good" one). FSU beats Clemson badly to prove what I'm saying. As well as Texas beats WVU and Oklahoma CRUSHES them. It will depend on how bad OU crushes them if they can beat KSU well this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes down. Not to mention the Red River Rivalry...that should prove if OU is a good as I think they are....if they win both those games early in the season before the WVU game.
Personally...if you look at Oklahoma's schedule and Notre Dames...as they are right now...they're the two toughest schedules in FBS (on how every team they play are ranked as of now and when they played them).

Geno is the truth. Honestly out of the next 12 teams who do you realistically put ahead of them???
9 Stanford
10 Clemson
11 Notre Dame
12 Texas
13 USC
14 Florida
15 Kansas State
16 Ohio State
17 TCU
18 Michigan
19 UCLA
20 Louisville
Let the games play out.
What will be interesting is to see how WV competes against the Big 12.
i like west va to win the big 12 this year that offense is absurd and awesome to watch

I don't think WV is that overrated. We'll see, though.
Class of 2010.
not sure where they should be ranked, but they appear to have an awesome offense, just ask clemson. and i wonder how the good guys would do playing them at this moment. be interesting for sure.
WV is pretty good, Geno is obviously a beast but they have a great WR core. Steadman Bailey and Alston or whatever are pretty legit.
Personally, I'd love to see WVU run the table and face off against Nick Saban's buzzsaw in the Championship. I don't think that Saban's ever faced an airraid team of late, could be one of the more interesting championship games in history.
Clemson was from a predictably sub-average ACC going into that game with WV and they quit on defense which is why it was so easy for WV. WV is a very good team but I think they lose a couple this year. OU is till the team to beat in the Big 12 this year.
Oklahoma is not the team to beat in the Big 12. I think they'll get evicerated in Morgantown. Geno Smith has been playing otherworldly, and Holgorsen is one Hell of a coach, he's better than Stoops right now. As Hodge mentioned above, I'd love to see WVU go up against Alabama in the title game.
