I actually think UCF is the biggest trap game on our schedule. I can see scenarios ranging from a 50 point win to a last second field goal to an outright loss. I believe UCF is better than any team on our schedule, except Wisconsin, Nebraska, and MSU. Buuuutttttttt.....everybody thinks I'm crazy.
So I'm curious, what are everybody's predictions for the UCF game now that we've seen the initial stages of the development of Urban's team?

OSU wins 31-14, by pulling away in the 4th quarter.
OSU 35-17.
24-10 OSU
OSU 31-13
"Love my State, hate the football"
Yeah, with William, 35 - 17.
You're not wrong, Cplunk. I think this is our trap game. I hope my fears are unfounded.

THE Ohio State University
As of right now, 24-20 Ohio State.... UCF is no joke and, although our D got better as the game went on vs Miami, I was far from impressed with any part of it. Going to have to strap in on saturday.
28-17 Buckeyes
The North remembers.
I added these to the excel sheet for the predictions for the UCF game.... Make your predictions and I'll add them.
SCHOOEY would you be copying william because he called the miami game right? lol.

Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
45 to 13 OSU
Bucks score 38. Basil gets his first FG of the year.
UCF gets 13, but only with a late TD. Bucks shut down the running game and tighten up the holes and miscommunications in the secondary.
Meyer doesn't allow this to be a trap game.
41-10, I think you're way to high on UCF this year
@BME... ha, did not know. Good on him.
I'm not saying this game will be easy...but I am saying after listening to Meyer and knowing how Meyer coaches....they will be up for this game.
41-16 Buckeyes
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
opening line is OSU - 17, fwiw
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Can UCF pass the ball? If they can, it could be close. If they can't, it will be a blowout.
The D wasn't bad once Fickell started dialing up the blitz packages... I'd like to see more of Spence with the speed rush on the end... I think we win by about 14-20... One of their top players might be out with a shoulder injury too.
My prediction: OSU 35 UCF 14
Their QB is efficient. He was 13-16 in their opener against Akron. They've got a solid running back. I'm more worried about their defense.
UCF was pretty bad last year, but all the hype is that they are greatly improved. I thought they were better than Miami but after doing some research I am not so sure. And then you add in the adjustments that the Bucks should make after game one... I would change my vote to 45 -16.
Schooey, UCF wasn't bad last year. They went 5-7 but 6 of those 7 losses came by a TD or less. They are also returning a majority of their starters.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
I guess that why they are expected to be good this year. But still, look at who they played.
38-10 bucks
The Bucks have way too much talent for this to be a game. theres no reason this shouldn"t be another blowout.
O H I O is the Buckeye State
31-10 Bucks
27-24 basil wins it with a FG.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
I'm thinking we might have another slow start and UCF might actually jump out to a 7 or even 10 point lead but in the end I think our athleticism, coaching, and power overwhelms them and we end up winning somewhere around 38-13
buckeyes 38-17
OSU 45 UCF 13
Sorry for the copycat but that's what it is. If I'm wrong, I'll buy myself a half-rack of Naty Light.
42-17 Buckeyes
Just read on the o-zone that ucf's starting RB could be out next week. That should definitely help the buckeyes out. Bucks win 45-17.
Bucks roll 38-13
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
As we learned last year, it's not a good idea to judge a QB based on his play against Akron.
When is the deadline to submit picks? Status of Latavius Murray will certainly be a factor.
Come on guys, you really think our team isn't going to come out fired up after getting rattled all week in practice about all the things they need to improve on from the first game? I think we come out and dominate this game: 35-13
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
35-13 Buckeyes. No slow start this week, though.
OSU 34 UCF 13
Class of 2010.
45-31. We score a lot but they score plenty as well....this is a very solid team. We shut them out in the 4th - game over.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I think UCF is a very good team but if they score 31 on our D, we may be in trouble down the road.
35-10 Buckeyes. I think we played a very vanilla game on purpose against miami of oiho. Our overall talent wins this game.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
So excited. The wife and I are going to the game with my family. Can't wait to see my alma mater get creamed by the buckeyes.
I went ahead and took all the predictions and posted them to the blogger.

45-13 sounds about right to me too. Like your style gentlemen.
@fromthei8 - I just believe this team may be the best team we see all year - therefore the high point number I predict from them. I hope I'm wrong but I think we allow more points during this game then any other game this year...I also see this as a team OSU may not take seriously enough. We'll see...
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
@ArmyBuck Thanks!
I'll say 38-17.
I'm saying 42-14...they'll score more than Miami but not much more. I doubt they hold OSU's offense to less than 40(It may get into the 50s if UCF can't stop em). It's a new OSU team and while UCF beat Akron by the same margin that OSU did Miami...I can't see this game getting an upset or trap label. They're just not good enough. However...if OSU has more 1st quarters like week one...then it could be a good game for UCF. Something tells me that won't happen again.

Teams that run the spread with very quick passes before our D line takes a couple steps will do much better than teams that run a pro-set offense. Our D line will dominate traditional offenses and will blitz and be much more aggressive against better competition as the season goes on...they were purposely vanilla again Miami.
D. Anthony
Scary game IMHO. 31-20.
vacuuming sucks
UCF's RB being out won't matter much. This Dline is so awesome they could have Montee Ball in that offense and get shut down! Maybe a bit over the top but I do believe that no team will run for more than 100 yards on this defense this year.
UCF can and will score, 45-17 good guys!
This shall go down in one of two ways.
1) Complete and total blowout. Thinking along the lines of 66-7. Mike Bianchi will make a joke Sunday morning and say that UCF gave up a safety on the plane ride home.
Here's how I think this game will happen.
2) UCF plays good ball for 40 minutes against OSU. The score middle of the third quarter: 28-17 UCF. O'Leary switches back to his 'running, grinding' self. Pope and company figure out O'Leary's plan, and a slow comeback occurs that gains momentum until the middle of the fourth quarter where UCF falls apart.
Final score: 41-31 OSU.
Go Knights...and I hope we don't embarrass ourselves too badly out there this week.
Cheers,
ChiKni
Now that Cal lost their home opener to Nevada, Cal is more likely to be the "trap game," not UCF.
Actually, the Buckeyes will be very hyped, focused at the start of this game, after the slow start against Miami OH. Meanwhile, UCF is not flying under any radars, after winning its opener 56-14, hanging around Ohio for 8+ days, being in Phil Steele's top 20, etc.
On top of that, UCF is a big (trash) talk type of team with a bunch of Florida guys who believe that ALL northern fball is inferior while they are budding future NFL superstars.
A few weeks ago, I listened to an Orlando newspaper hack previewing UCF on a CUSA radio show. She suggested that not only would UCF blow through CUSA but that they would have more talent than any of their opponents. The interview reminded her, "don't they play Ohio State?" She responded, "Oh, yeah . . . well, that game is probably a toss-up on talent, but UCF will be more talented than all the other teams." The Orlanda hack did say that UCF was liable to go south at any time, but she was predicting an 11-1 or 12-0 regular season.
Urbz and company will be aware of all this UCF hype, will circulate the stories (and trash talk) in the locker room, and will have the fellas even more pissed off than usual going into this Saturday's game.
Ohio State 49, UCF 17.
I think the game will be close early and then OSu will pull away for a comfortable 35-14 win.
Bonus Prediction: I say Air Force by 2 touchdowns over Michigan, and thus Bama beats UM 2 weeks in a row.
42-13
I just don't understand the people who think that OSU will come out of this game with a field-goal win, and beat teams like MSU and Wisky.... I think it will be more like 35-14 or 35-17.
30-21 Buckeyes
I have not seen UCF play, curious if anyone has... just a guess 35-13.
Capn, Make It So...
Bucks win, 34-20.
52 - 6
"Do not pray for an easy life. Rather, pray for the the strength to endure a difficult one" - Bruce Lee
UCF is not a cake walk by any means but you really think they will score 31 points Chicago Knight? I don't think this team has given up 31 points to anyone not named Wisconsin, Nebraska or Michigan. It is rare that this team gives up anything more than 17.
I will however say that this game will be a shooting match. They can't stop this offense! they can only hope to keep up. It will be tight but I stick by my prediction that it will be 45-17. UCF and its overzealous fans will get a good idea how good their team really is. UCF should dominate CUSA, that is true. But they will not go undefeated after Saturday!
Is UCF a spread offense? I would think our defense has seen a lot of spread plays with our own teams offense. This makes me think we should be ready for what UCF is bringing. If that is true then it is just down to personnel and I think we win that battle hands down. What do you guys think?
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
@Jeremy91 thats what im thinking
O H I O is the Buckeye State
24-20 OSU
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
I don't view it as a trap game really. To me a trap game is Ohio U the week before going to USC or Illinois before Michigan. To me a trap game is a game against an decent inferior team before playing a really huge game like Michigan or Texas or USC etc. UCF is the best non conference team we'll play. This is just a big game against a team that could very well pull off the win.
If there top running back is out, I suddenly become less worried about this game. 35-14 OSU
"Because the rules won't let you go for three." - Woody Hayes
THE Ohio State University
How dare you not think we blow them out BTALBERT!!!!!?!?! lol
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
lol yeah, I'm hoping for an impressive win, I'll be in the stands and it'll likely be the only game I make it to this season. Although I may drive up for E2B and hang out.
OHIO STATE 34
ucf 23
I think since UCF is already a rush-happy team, they're at risk of becoming entirely one-dimensional against a disciplined D. This is probably the best defensive front they'll see all year, so if the passing attack can't get off the ground to supplement their strengths, it could be a long game for UCF.
45-10 Ohio State. They line up and run it at you, OSU will stop that (especially since their RB is probably going to be out). Once we make them pass (after the second play-ish), it's over. We'll go uptempo with the offense and stretch them out/tire them out. I think UCF is much better than Miami (OH), but our offense will also show up in the first quarter.
Btw, my official prediction on the Miami (OH) game over Twitter was 52-10 (i don't remember what I said here), that will be the only time I will ever have rooted for us to kick a fieldgoal instead of going for it at the end of the half :p
UCF is a much faster team then Miami of Ohio. Those mistakes made by the secondary in coverage will lead to 6 by UCF. Defense better get the the QB quicker in this game or else!
Ohio State - 48
UCF - 27
Tomorrow
There is a good (at the moment) chance that Latavius Murray is out this week, so I think that should make our lives a lot easier in this game. UCF is a pretty good team and certainly a step up from Miami (OH) last weekend. I've watched a little bit of highlights from their game against Akron and they looked good, but its hard to tell much about a team playing Akron (as well all found out last season). I think we'll come out a bit more poised and confident on offense this Saturday. We're 17.5 point favorites going in, but I think we'll cover that. UCF's style of offense plays right into our defenses hands and we should handle them on both sides. Ohio State 38 UCF 10.
Ohio State 48 UCF 17
I'll take 41-17, Ohio State.
45-7 Da Buckeyes
Going with 42-10. Bucks will not come out slow. I just can't see that happening with the way Meyer coaches. Games are won in practice and a fast start would be a huge stressing point for me this week if I were him and I expect that to fully be the case. UCF is a good team from what I do know about them and a confident team isn't so easy to put away so if it is a slow start then I change my score to 35-24 and I would picture one pissed off head coach on the side line. I will be there live so I will let you know what I see! Lol.
Bucks 37 - UCF 17...I have a feeling Ohio State will be covering the spread a lot more than they did in the past. I am sure the bookies didnt like OSU when Tress was coach haha.
45-14
I've got predictions up until here. Keep em' going.
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Players and coaches have one game under their belt after installing a new system and coaching staff. Meyer, the perfectionist, spends this week correcting player mistakes and making schematic adjustments. UCF's Worton had 3 punt returns for 73 yards, and the team rushed for 206 yards. This is not going to happen with OSU's special teams and defense.
63-7 good guys.
^I really agree with that. As much as most will say it's an unreasonable blowout, I think Miami's air raid spread was much more effective than UCF's offense will be.
OSU 45 - UCF 20
They won't be able to run the ball, we'll get up, then they have to pass to stay in the game this one gets ugly by the 2nd quarter. 45-7 OSU
OSU 42 UCF 7
How firm thy friendship..
31 - 17 Good guys
Honestly, I predicted OSU would beat Miami 45-0 and then they go and hang 56 points on them in only 3 quarters. So they are probably gonna do better than what I think they are gonna do vs UCF. I predict OSU wins 42-3 but they are probably gonna do even better than that.
52 - 14
"We have always had the best damn band in the land, now we have the best damn team in the land"- Jim Tressel 1-03-03
24-13. Hope I'm wrong but still think the O is too much of a work in progress to expect 40+. Guessing 1st half tight then slowly Bucks pull away.
27-16 Bucks
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
I'll go with 31-14 OSU.
As for our Defense, obviously, they need to eliminate the miscommunication in the secondary. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, our D was largely Nickel vs. Miami, but it seems we'll see more of a 4-3 against UCF as they will run the ball a lot more. It will be interesting to really see Curtis Grant in action. It will also be interesting to see if our D Line is more aggressive this week.
Ohio State wins but it will be a tight game going into the 4th quarter.
Ohio State 27, UCF 13.
I feel that this will be the toughest non-conference game that they face all year. If you look at UCF, they took care of Akron but they have some guys that have to be reckoned with. Defensively, OSU is going to have take a major step up in the secondary and the front seven has to come ready to play. I don't think they'll have a slow start like they did last week, but scoring will be a little bit tougher this time around.
It's true... We really are a bunch of nuts!
Go Bucks!
UCF's defense is far better than Miami's. And our offense still has a ways to go in the passing game. No way we score 40+ this week. But with their running back being banged up and our run defense being better than our pass defense, i'm still suggesting a multiple touchdown win.
31-17 sounds about right.
Last year UCF gave up 38 pts (high total for their season) twice, both times in losses: 17-38 @SMU, and 31-38@ ECU. Thing is neither ECU (26.3ppg) or SMU (25.9ppg) were exactly offensive juggernauts last season. I don't think it is too much to expect that we might match their offensive output. Similarly, FIU (10pts), BYU (17pts), Marshall (16pts), SMU (17pts), and Tulsa (17pts) all managed to hold UCF under 20 last season.
I also think the memory of last week's 1st quarter helps the coaches keep the team sharp at practice this week. I'll go with 38-13 Buckeyes.
I think some of these scores are underestimating Urban and the staff... To say we win by a field goal is pretty sad... UCF's top RB is out and they run the ball more than they throw it and I think we stop the run pretty well on Saturday. I'm going with a statement game for all of the "trap" haters... Urban likes to run up the score (which is one thing I'm happy about), so I'm going with:
Buckeyes 50 UCF 10
Let's remember that, yes, we held Miami to 10....but it could have easily been 17 or 20. We were very fortunate on a couple plays....
BUT, I agree wtih previous comments that OSU will shut down their run game and make them 1-dimensional. Then come the blitzes and probably an interception or two.
Bucks 31, UCF 17
Why in the hell are people calling this a trap game? Our next game after this is California, who got beat by Nevada. Im not trying to be a homer but calling this a trap game is pretty ridiculous.
As for my prediction: Bucks 42, Knights 17.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I'm sorry guys but we held Miami to 10. Stop this it could've been stuff, because guess what, it wasn't. UCF will most likely be without their starting running back. Their QB seemed pretty efficient against Akron though. I said 35-17, but this game could also get Miami level ugly, like 49-10 or so. Also it's not a "trap game" if we don't have a major opponent after them. If this were the week before the Michigan State game, then yes I would say it's a trap game.
@buckeye in sec country
you made two predictions, which one would you like to stick with?
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
I'll say OSU 52 UCF 20
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I'll say OSU 41-13
I say da Buckeyes ahundert-an-forty-two and da bears 4. Coach Meyer will give'em a couple of safeties to tank'em for makin the trip.

Bucks 45- UCF 13
38-17
GO BUCKEYES!
OSU 30-17
If it's too loud, then you're too old!!
If we had Hall it would be 49-10, but since we do not. I'm going with 38-17

Osu 34-13
Buckeyes 49-12
UCF moves the ball some in the first half but never reach the endzone
Buckeyes stuff the UCF run game and the extra loud Buckeye fans/stadium help sack their QB 5 times ;)
O H I O is the Buckeye State
Im going 42 to 10 bucks

can I pat my own back for my 31-17 prediction?
