Wisconsin looks terrible. Michigan is still a year away. Iowa is once again Paul Rhode's butt donut. Tyler Martinez is gonna arm punt Nebraska back to hell.
If we're hanging our hat on Northwestern over Vandy, we're in trouble.
Michig*n is a year away from losing Deenard. Don't see that as being a plus for them next year. They either reconvert a WR to QB or start a true frosh. Can't be good.
Martinez throws off his back foot with the best of them, coupled with his Kosar side-arm dice roll throw.......wait, did I just describe an arm punt?
I think Michigan will have to wait until Shane Morris is a sophomore and by then they will be a national power. I think next year is when we reestablish ourselves as that national power, because we already have more players that better fit into our system than Michigan does. But man, once Michigan gets those O-line recruits in, and has Morris plus a bruising RB back there, they will be one Hell of a team.
So I guess we'll be the highest ranked team in the B1G now. Not sure thats such a good thing..
I imagine the media will be looking for all kinds of reasons to put the Buckeyes under the microscope even more now. Although I have a feeling we'll have our hands full with California next week.
EDIT: No Michigan State is still ranked higher than us. Oops
Go look at the standings. Who is on top of our division? I know, there haven't been any conference play yet, but seriously. Indiana, #1 in our division? This ain't basketball. And the sad part is, who's going to stop them? Two of us are DQ'ed, Wisconsin forgot to make sure they have an offense this year, Illinois got stomped on today, and Purdue? Indiana and Purdue are in a two-way race for the Leader's Division. How sad is that?
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
all im gunna say is we really need some quality ooc games..i honestly think ucf was a quality team who might find their way into the top 25 by the end of the year..and theres no way to tell cal would suck back when the game was scheduled..but if the BIG stays this awful..were gunna need some USC/texas type games..because the BIG is starting to look like the worst AQ confrence.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
William, on paper, it looks like Michigan will be a power again in two years. Although the recruiting rankings are a pretty good baromoter for future success, on an aggregated basis, they're not proof that a program with high recuiting rankings is necessarily bringing in top talent. If a coaching staff does poor talent eval, they might end up with a bunch of overrated 4/5 stars and 3 stars that do not turn out to be diamonds in the rough.
Not saying that is likely to be the case with Michigan, but Hoke's career record is - what? - a little above 0.500? Hoke coached two years at SD State, beginning in 2009. His big year there was 2010, when he had several upperclassmen (not recruited by Hoke) who were NFL-caliber players.
After Hoke left, SD State went 8-5 last year. So far this year, they've looked pretty good, losing a tough road game to Washington and pounding Army this week.
Time will tell how good Hoke and company are at talent evaluation.
northwestern beating vandy has the power of ten wins? cant await to tell my sec coworkers that one. lol. my sec coworkers tried to razz me about bama crushing ttun, but i told them that made my year.
I was thinking watching Ohio State yesterday man this team is going to lose some games, then one after the other I watched all the teams in the B1G shit the bed. Could have a 4 loss B1G champ this year!
Agree Redstorm. Purdue... right now, has the best Defensive line in the conference. Short is a 1st rounder, Gaston and Taylor are tough as hell, and that DE Russell looks like Mario Williams out there. lol
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I am done rooting for the B10. It is embarrassing how bad this conference is and it reminds me of when I root for the Browns on Sundays. The ACC is better at playing football, who would have thought that 10 years ago. Other than OSU/Michigan/MSU no one can recruit top tier talent and it shows.
^^^Ageed with that conference pecking order....and that just plain suuuuucks. How the hell have things come to this? It is truly embarrassing & absolutely horrible for recruiting...

Michigan's ENTIRE team is Denard. I don't know his final numbers, but his numbers early in the 4th quarter were sick. 200+ passing yards, 200+ rushing yards. And they BARELY beat Air Force! I'm not sure how good AF is supposed to be, but I'm pretty sure UM is supposed to wax them.
Can't believe Whisky lost!
Can't believe PSU is 0-2! Though their first 2 OOC games were decent teams...
Can't believe Nebraska lost! I thought UCLA was weak as of late, but I guess UCLA is never a total cupcake opponent. And they're in the top 25, so maybe they're turning things around? Still....
I want to say that NW over Vandy is great, becuase Vandy played well against South Carolina...or is it just that Carolina was WAY overranked (like apparently Arkansas was)?
Agree 100% with this forum post. BIG is weak right now.
I disagree about Cal. I think Cal is NOT a good team. They lost to Nevada, and struggled against Southern Utah. We have plenty to work on for sure, but I consider Cal an easier task than UCF.
I think that UCF with their star running back would be close to Cal. I think Cal is slightly better than the UCF we played. Because of UCF's previous year it is really hard to know if OSU played a good team or not. That really worries me about the Cal game.
The days of traditional powers just out talenting teams is over. Bowling Green came close to upsetting Florida. ULM beat Arkansas, Pitt lost to Youngstown State.... I guess what I'm trying to say is Coaching has almost surpassed talent in the short term. Talent will catch up, but it seems like since the evolution of spread offenses, the playing field has been more level. We used to see a National Power lose half of their starters, and come out in week 1 and beat a lesser talented opponent by 35 pts. Now we it's become normal to see a few FCS teams pull off upsets early, and watch 5 start talent get out-executed and out- smarted by 2 and 3 star talent.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I'm not worried about anymore non-conference games, as UCF looks like theyd wipe the floor with cal. I mean Cal was uo 3 on Souther Utah on the second half after losing to a fairly average Nevada team. And I'm also starting to become less and less worried about the rest of the B1G outside of MSU and UM. UM mostly because its a rivalry and previous games really can't predict how The Game will end up.
@BTALBERT - to your comment up there..I know it doesn't effect OSU much but I would like to see the B1G as a stronger conference. It helps in a lot of ways - like when it's time for a selection committee to pick teams for the NC playoffs. If we are on the bubble due to 4 other teams having good years/same records - it will hurt us...Also, a weak B1G could have some effect on OSU recruiting - not a terrible effect, but if a southern kid is choosing between OSU & LSU or Bama - he'll have a recruiter in his ear saying "I guess if you want to play a bunch of weaklings - go ahead on over to OSU".
What it really does is hurt recruiting for the rest of the conference which makes the B1G progressively weaker...As a guy who grew up on OSU & football, I do have some B1G pride & hope things aren't as bad as they looked this past weekend.

We beat the SEC tonight. That's all that matters.

^Only difference is that Kosar was accurate..
Most people think Michigan has at least 2 years to be able to compete on a national stage, and I'd say the same for us, maybe a little less time.
I think Michigan will have to wait until Shane Morris is a sophomore and by then they will be a national power. I think next year is when we reestablish ourselves as that national power, because we already have more players that better fit into our system than Michigan does. Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but I'm just being realistic.

Purdue's D-Line is sick. Wisconsin, meanwhile, struggles to beat FCS teams.
I think the Legends division should send its top 2 teams to the B1G CCG. The eligible Leaders teams are awful.

SC and Vandy were both overestimated because the SEC is overestimated (ranked). Not to mention Arkansas.

WHOAAHH NOW PEOPLE!!
- Apart from Illinois, most of the losses were less than a touchdown.
- The teams at home (MSU, TOSU, Northwestern) generally won.
- The teams that went on the road generally lost ... against legit OOC competitors early in the season.
In 10 weeks Arizona State, UCLA, Virginia and Oregon State will not be world-beaters.
My name is CowCat, and I approved this message.
