Yea let's hope Gibson gets those grades up, because he is the real deal. Didn't he also say something about his grades being fine though? Maybe it's his SAT/ACT score though that didn't meet expectations?

I'm going to say V.Bell as well. One question though it was said on ESPN that J.Hatcher was coming on his official visit w/J.Quick if for whatever reason he decided he wanted to commit, would he be accepted w/J.Quick?

I believe Hatcher has already committed to USC. I could be mistaken tho. 

I think our best chance for a new commit will be after the Nebraska game. The Shoe should be electric and we have a lot of recruits visiting for it so maybe we get one to pull the trigger then. Is James Quick visiting that week? If so i think he will be the next commit.

I think Mitchell is a little far off; if/when he visits, he's a a lock. For that reason, I'd say Worley, Munger, or Gibson from '13; Nicholson, Snodgrass, or Barker (if offered) for '14.

I'm gonna jump on the V Bell bandwagon here.  He's gonna be at the Shoe for the Nebraska game.  The atmosphere should be electric.  He'll be surrounded by Cam Burrows, Eli Woodard, and Darron Lee.  Hopefully, they all bond and he gets excited at the prospect of playing with them.  A good game by the Buckeyes could go a long way to bringing him to OSU.

In any case, I think the Buckeyes get at least one commit out of that weekend.

The staff is more focused on games than recruiting right now, but they are still working on recruiting. Recruiting never ends. They are still in contact with kids and keeping up with how they are performing. 

Mitchell - coinciding with his oficial visit to a game. Neb or The Game I think....

Dorian Johnson and Bell are both visiting vs. NEB aren't they?  Hopefully we dominate, the crowd is crazy and they both end up committing. 

I say Bell. Doesn't he already have an announcement date or basically as soon as his season is over. That tells me he has a place in mind.

Mitchell isn't close yet.

Gibson I believe is test scores and I wouldn't think he would be testing anytime soon. Probably around December or January.

Quick is taking his time. Him coming up for a game is huge. Bringing Hatcher along, and yes he is verballed to USC but he could want to join Quick, will be a nice get too despite the talent already coming in. Hatcher is very disruptive in the backfield.

Most likely: Bell, Mitchell, Gibson, Quick, Worley. (Nothing wrong with that!)

Bell has no number one, but most people think it is a toss up between us and Tennessee. I like Urban's chances against a coach who may or may not be around next season.

Oh, and please don't cite Nick Glass as a source saying Tennessee is Bell's top choice right now. Bell didn't say a word to Glass about where he wanted to go. In Glass' words "it's just a feeling."

Pierogyjim, you said it will be Mitchell but he also has other schools and hasn't said who he prefers either. So why jumping on me for my pick? I think it is Bell.

Mitchell is just as much a crap shoot as Bell. Mitchell just visited Texas A&M.

I think it is possibly Worley because he knows if Bell commits before him his spot could be taken.  If Bell commits then the staff might decide to use those other spots on different positions.  I think the most pressure is on Worley.

@BUCKEYE_IN_SEC, I stand corrected, I looked on the wrong line on the schedule. Still think if Mitchell visits for that game he will commit soon after.

The Ducks might be back in the mix for linebacker Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian Academy). The 6-foot-4, 216-pounder visited Oklahoma recently and plans to visit Ohio State and Oregon later this season. 

The guy is still going around visiting teams as well. Bell will also be at the Nebraska game and can very easily commit right after that. Supposedly they are rolling out the red carpet and going to recruit him hard that weekend! He is the target.

so based on that info, I don't think my thoughts of Bell committing earlier is any more erroneous than your claim! Nothing personal. :)

While I agree Vonn Bell is a stretch, I just have a feeling that kid ends up being a buckeye based on the statements he has made in interviews, as well as the uncertainty at their coaching position. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have Mitchell as our next commit. It's just his dad im worried about. I think Urban eventually does convince him, but I just think it may take longer than we think.

Agreed! And I personally don't think the parents should be so involved that they tell a kid he can not attend a school because it is too far away. Maybe if he was paying for it, but it's a free ride. If Mike loves OSU as much as he seems to, let your boy come be a Buckeye Mr. Mitchell. He won't regret it.

As to Mike Mitchell's dad (and mom), perhaps he is looking at it from a logistical, financial, and experience standpoint. Mike is the oldest in a big household with younger sibs who are all into sports- so they all have their sports games/tournaments also. Hard (not to mention expensive) to take the fam to see big brother play in the midwest as often as you could in Oklahoma or Florida. Surely he wants Mike to be super dee duper sure that OSU is THE place, and that he will be happy and successful, athletically, academically, and socially, before he commits. As an aside, some of us with multiple kids tend to hold on to our oldest ones a bit tighter when they are making life altering decisions-we just don't know better. We are a bit more flexible down the line.

I agree with SouthByMidwest...  A trip every weekend to the midwest plus keeping up with your other kids wouldn't be easy for any family.  With that said, Oregon wouldn't be feasible either if that is the Mitchell's concern.  I could honestly see the Mitchells moving to Columbus if Mike and his younger brother select OSU.  It just makes sense and there are plenty of boosters who own businesses.  I think Urban and the staff will roll out the red carpet for parents.  Tyquan Lewis' mother was very involved in his recruitment and Urban won her over, so I can see him winning over Mike's dad. 

With all that said, I really dont care who the next commit is as long as Urban is doing the recruiting because I trust him and the staff.  I REALLY JUST WANT TO SEE ANOTHER GRAY BOX!

^^^ Your co-workers are fooling themselves.  Not saying Strong will go to Arkansas, but he's become a hot commodity, and he ain't staying in Louisville.

Are your co-workers like Strong's best friends or something? Lol I'm not saying they're wrong, as I too believe Strong will stay at Louisville at least one more year, but it seems like they know a lot of personal details about Strong like his internal thoughts about leaving the program and promises he made to certain players.

Best Case Scenario:

Louisville does well, Tennessee struggles, and Georgia falters late in the year once again. Dooley and Richt get fired, and Strong chooses to take over for Richt at Georgia. Quick comes to OSU after strongs departure, Bell comes to OSU after Dooley's departure, and now Urban Meyer has a years worth of recruiting/relationships ahead of Strong in the battle for Raekwon McMillan (which we already have a slight lead in).

some of my co-workers root just as hard for their cardinals as some of us buckeye fans root for tosu. how much do they know about strong and quick, more than i know for sure. i repeated to them what i have heard, and the link squirrel turned me onto, and i repeated some of what they said about all this. okay? imo, i think strong will find a new job. when? i have no idea. time will tell. where? again, time will tell. i also work with a couple of vol fans, and even though it is just two fans of the many volunteer fans in this world, they both are pleased with dooley, and they both seem to think his job is safe as long as the vols beat uk this year, go to a bowl game and has a nice 2013 class coming in.

After watching the LB play so far this year, it makes me want Mitchell to sign up ASAP, but who knows if that will actually happen.

However, I feel like if any game could instantly sway someone into making a decision, it is the Nebraska or Michigan games.

Im gonna agree with Triv on this one and say Bell just because he has stated an interviews he will likely decide after his season is up and we are his last visit which is huge. With mitchell i guess the thing thats not helping is he plays every weekend and bc of the barrage of noon games on our slate there hasnt been time to put into a visit to make a decision. With that said his two options for game visit right now would be either Nebraska or The Game unless he decides to visit after the season which could happen but the fact that oklahoma did not jump past us after he visited should be telling and i wouldnt worry about oregon bc thats a large distance from home as well oklahoma is the only competition right now. The biggest wild card i believe with mitchell is his brother mickey who loves him some thad matta and they do want to attend the same school. Also, Triv i replied to your post on the recruit updates article i hope it clarifies it for you as it isnt speculation but information gathered from certain people that would def know alot more than me hope that helps.

Mitchell.  His visit will happen before Gibson's grades/scores come in.
