Michigan loves to run that quick pass.... Bama's offense is so efficient... Michigan is going to have to respond or this game will get out of hand fast
Sparty didn't look that great against a bad Boise team. I would argue that the whole B1G looked bad this week, besides us after Q1 and Nebraska after about midway through Q2. But Nebraska lost Burkhead, maybe for a while. But it's only week one, so we'll see how people progress, it would be our league to lose if we were allowed....
Michigan, doin the B1G proud lol. I let emotion get the best of me listening to a moron carry on about Bama last night. I knew this game was going to be a laugher, I should of stuck to my guns.
it has been noted so many times how average Michigan was last year, and they won a BCS bowl (against a so-so Virginia Tech team)... all of this hype about Michigan has made no sense to me. Only chance I gave Michigan in this game was with Denard breaking 2 or 3 big TD plays, they have nothing else.
Im kinda feeling bad for them lol, look at the sideline the players are in shock, i witness one guy explaining something and the rest just staring off into space like "is it really 21-0 ALREADY?"
Fromthe18: Bama fans don't give a lick about academic prowess. If they were us, Michigan fans could play the Sherman and Grant cards, but they can't even do that.

What bothers me with this game is people will say WOW BAMA JUST HOUSED THE NUMBER 8 TEAM IN AMERICA, when most people were smart enough to realize Michigan was nowhere near a top 10 team anyway.
What'll really be bad is if Michigan ends up winning the B1G this year. Can you imagine what will be said about the B1G then. Sadly, they probably have a pretty good chance.
I hope this will make the AP embarassed in ranking them 8. EVERYONE said 8 was too high of a ranking but the AP still sucked on Hokes dick after last season.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I used to root for the big ten year after year..I just don't really give a shit anymore. I hate Michigan!! I hate Wisconsin! I hate Penn State! I hate Ilinois!
What basis would any educated "expert" have for ranking Michigan in the top 10 from last year? They dodged 2 of the tougher teams in the B1G last year, and played probably the weakest team in the BCS last season. They lost their best players on the D Line. There was no real sense in ranking them top 10 pre season. That's the only point I'm trying to make Bucksfan.
In my mind, the only reason I really care about the B1G performing well is if it helps improve OSU's case for the MNC or a BCS at-large bid. Seeing as we're ineligible this post-season, I really couldn't care less about how well the B1G fares against other conferences.
After this game, the best thing for Michigan will be to send the players on a two-day spa trip to recuperate their hurt feelings, get pedicures and mud baths, and get up the courage to fight another day.
Fido, looking at the score of Arkansas' game at halftime, I don't have much faith they'll be able to do anything with a Big Boy offense. They are having a hell of a time with Jackonville State right now.
It matters where you start the seasons ranked because it biases you in a certain direction
Therefore,
If the Big Ten is thought to be tougher (by beating Bama for example) this year, the best teams in the Big Ten will be ranked higher next year giving them a jump start in the rankings. OSU would get that same benefit if they can do well in a conference that is considered tougher than the slap fest we are seeing from UM right now. UM plummets in rankings after this.
lol, how embarrassing. Maybe if Brady Joke was putting together a game plan rather then mapping out the quickest route to every fast food place near the 'Boys stadium, maybe Michigan would look better than a middle school team.
Bucksdan: good point. For this year, all ridicule directed toward the Big Ten is Michigan's fault. We were told in the 2008 that people nowadays can't remember anything that happened more than 18 minutes ago. Therefore, Ohio State was solely responsible for the BT's bad rep.
Only partly agree. Urban Meyer gives us credibility so I think we'll be ranked highly regardless. They just have the expectations that his teams will be good.
@STEENSN, Good teams will separate themselves with their play on the field regardless of where they're ranked to start the season. But it doesn't really make much of a difference in terms of where you finish one year and where you start at in the rankings the next year. For example: Georgia at #6 after losing to a (gasp) B1G team, Clemson at #14 after getting throttled by a Big East team in a BCS game, OSU at #18 after going 6-7.
Oh, I wanted Bama to lose, but that is totally different than rooting FOR TSUN.

Man, do I love watching MeatChicken get embarrassed in front of a national audience! I mean, I'm no fan of Alabama or the SEC, but you've gotta love watching your hated enemy get handed a straight up behind-the-woodshed BEATDOWN! :-) Ah, sweet schadenfreude...
Oh no mr announcer man, it can't be good blocking. Nobody but nobody could ever score on the almighty Bama running in the red zone. I know it must be that Bama is soooo good that Denerd used their greatness against them. Denerd the Judo master.
Bama, for the confused 7 pct in the 11W poll, is demonstrating an "A" performance. See how it feels nothing can go wrong or be stopped? Didn't feel like that even when we were rolling.
THIS is where we want to be at the end of the year or going into next season
Alabama has to be averaging 9 yards a carry. Michigan D line is BAD. getting blown off the line each play. Even with Mike Martin they would be screwed.
Jesus.... I just watched a WR lay out a middle linebacker.
here come the chants..... SEC SEC uugggg.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
the one thing that will come from this, that has never made sense to me, is Bama/SEC fans will use this game as some sort of demonstration of Big 10 vs SEC...will say this though, after the 1st weekend of football games, OSU looks like the best team in the Big 10...long way to go but wow, conference is going to have a ton of average teams again.
I love how ESPiN shows SEC highlights. BG outplayed Florida on offense, and they show the one good pass play Florida makes where the kid missed the tackle on the out route. Don't bother to show the 2 missed easy FG's by BGSU, or how a spread MAC team was able to run draw plays all day on that SEC defense.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
No question about it. The two worst that exist. The only one I can think of that might compete is Pam Ward and I think she got fired last year.
Loving this game btw. Michigan getting used and abused. Hope all the recruits we are fighting them for are watching this.
They benefited from a cupcake schedule last year. Played 2 good teams last year and went 1-1 against them. Easy schedules will hide a lot of deficiencies.
Hoke has "lost his voice," which either means he's too much of a pissy biotch to talk to the media with his team getting killed, or his Whataburger order showed up and his mouth is otherwise occupied.
@Razorback I think I heard Pam Ward today. I am trying to remember what game it was. Unless there is another female announcer I know I heard her somewhere. The guy she was with sounded pretty amature, it was sad listening to them, not like football.
No, you're right, the interwebs say she was canned. I wonder who I was hating on today.
Yep, must have been Beth Mowins and Joey Galloway. I don't remember anything about Galloway except that he does not speak very clearly. Mowins was getting on my nerves though.
If a former player says, "wow, what a hit, he positioned that just right" you can imagine that he knows of what he speaks. When a woman says that, I find it hard to believe that she has intimate knowledge of the situation. I'm not saying that a woman cannot call a good game, but they try to call it as a player would instead of sounding like themselves.
The other problem is that I'm usually trying NOT to hear female voices when I watch football.
No sense in watching Fichigan get crushed any longer, except for just the sadistic pleasure of it. Oregon's got the crazy-ass helmets tonight, Asymmetry seems to be all the rage.
If Toledo took out Arizona, that would be fun. Looks like there are only two games left to watch tonight.
Do you guys have an opinion on whether UMICH getting blown out by Bama effects OSU recruiting at all?
I realize it's a stretch, but my first thought was that anything that makes TTUN look bad makes us look better. However, this blow out does perpetuate the idea (however founded) that the SEC is leagues ahead of the B10--which could hurt OSU by proximity.
Or would you argue that is has no effect whatsoever on OSU? Just a few thoughts I had.
I don't think Bama winning big impacts Ohio State vs Bama recruiting at all really. Hell if anything else Urban can say, have you seen the teams I've coached? Imagine that playing against B1G talent every week.
@mtots... the people who vote says it matters... that is all I need to say. You are saying they are ranked well for losing, I am saying they would be ranked higher if they won and some others would have been ranked lower if they lost. It is all about perception of the team and that is based off how well they do against their competition and how good that competition is. SEC seems tougher as a conference and we see that in the rankings.
You are essentially saying that the precieved strength of schedule means nothing when they vote... yet the main complaint about the preseason rankings is that it is based on the percieved strength of the SEC which hurts the rest of the conferences.
I think your push to say that the Big Ten percieved strength doesn't help OSU is very silly.
I saw someone mention Hoke not speaking to the media at half, I think it's legit, he was on GameDay or some other show I was listenning to on the radio early today and he could hardly talk.
I would guess that Fichigan getting crushed can only help us in recruiting, in so far as one might rather play for us. The SEC is the best mindset is already out there, so I'm not sure that this particular game would make a difference. On the other hand, over the long term we would probably lose one now and again due to the SEC is the best mindset. So I do root for the BG1 overall because the bigger picture is important to some degree over the years. That the best I can figure it. And kids staying close to home, and the home teams that they rooted for growing up is probably a bigger factor.
I think your push to say that the Big Ten percieved strength doesn't help OSU is very silly.
I guess I haven't been clear (that is my fault). I'm trying to say this year doesn't make much of a difference in terms of next year's rankings BEYOND the pre-season poll (which is a ridiculous poll to begin with). Things will shake out on the field of play NEXT YEAR and this year won't mean jacksquat.
Besides, Michigan would not be highly rated next year even if they won this game because they are losing their 3 year starter at QB.
That is wonrg though, because your percieved strenght of schedule is based on the percieved strength of your opponents. If your team wins against a percieved stronger team it helps you in voters minds. Further, if you lose to a higher ranked opponent it hurts you less. The opposite if you lose to a perceived sucky team, it really hurts you. It doesn't matter how good the teams REALLY are.
Further, if the Big Ten is no though of as a tough conference, every loss doesn't help as much and every lose hurts more. The exreme case is the 13-0 Boise State ad TCU teams. They "showed it on the field" yet they lost out on the big game because of opponents perceived strength (and their opponents overall sucked). We see the percieved strength of a conference clearly help some teams and hurt others... that is exactly why this game matters because it plays into that overall opinion of the conference which absolutatly is based on previous yearS <- mutliple. There sis no way around it, it is well documented that the schools that are in percieved stronger conferences fair beter in the polls at the end of the season. It matters...
Ok, but as long as Ohio St takes care of business on the field, they will get in because they're Ohio St and play in a major BCS conference. Unless the B1G loses members or becomes almost completely irrelevant (like the Big East before WVU and others jumped ship), they will remain a major BCS conference. The B1G hasn't approached this level of irrelevancy in my mind... maybe it has in yours though
Herbie picked the Toledo wrong-direction play as the play of the weekend. No love for Devin Smith's 1-handed grab. Thanks, Herbie, you fake ass buckeye.
You are picking 2 really extreme examples though using Boise and TCU. TCU had a respectable conference but Air Force, BYU, and Utah(other than 2 seasons) weren't as good as teams like MSU, Wisky, Penn State, Iowa etc. Boise had NO ONE in their conference. If a B1G team goes undefeated or has 1 loss, they'll get into the title game or playoffs, especially since there's a conference championship game.
Another thing Boise and TCU don't have going for them is power. College football is ruled by cash and Ohio State with 1 loss or undefeated will trump just about anyone else.
I almost always root for BT teams in non-conf games, but it's just not that important this year. If the Buckeyes go undefeated next year under Urbz, they'll get plenty of consideration regadless of what people think about the BT. Meanwhile, one of the main purposes of this year's Buckeyes campaign is to make the BT look bad.
Steensn: you're making the right argument during the wrong year. The ideal season for the Buckeyes will be to demolish every BT team, win the east by 2 games, but not be able to play in the BTCG. So, the BTCG pits something like Purdue versus a two loss MSU or Nebraska. A good year for Ohio State is going to be embarassing for the BT.
You keep talking about perception... Don't doubt for a second that pollsters perceive Urban Meyer as having damn good teams. That will be enough to keep us ranked high enough to be in contention, regardless of the rest of the conference.
I'm rooting for the Rockets rather than against RR. Tress a-- raped RR and left him for dead in an alley. What more damage can be done to the poor harmless creature?
Michigan loves to run that quick pass.... Bama's offense is so efficient... Michigan is going to have to respond or this game will get out of hand fast
Devin Gardner is clearly not a receiver.
Denard off target and will have to play way better for Michigan to have a chance. I expected Michigan's defense to have a tough time with Bama's OL.
Denard can't hit wide open guys. Michigan seems to have the players, they're just not executing at all.
Denard is a garbage QB.

Last year, Michigan was an 8-4 team with a 10-2 schedule. This year, they are an 8-4 team with a 7-5 schedule.
Good. Hope this exposes Michigan. Denard is an awesome athlete, but their team is not a top 10 team.
What can Denard do, asks Mussburger? Not throw ducks?
Yea they need something on this drive

And Pitt lost to YSU! That's a two-fer! Tressel is smiling and Fat Urkel is crying! Yea, football!
Real fans stay for Carmen.
I just want to see Ohio State highlights at halftime
@mtots. imagine what they would be ranked had they won...
It does matter, eveyone talks about it who get the vote.
Two worst announcers in college football? What do ya say?
McCarron is a decent QB, no chance he gets the numbers to win the Heisman
LOL wtf was that random fumble?
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I think OSU would have done better than Fichigan against Bama today.
Man this is great
Alabama has to be averaging 9 yards a carry.
Michigan = Rihanna
Alabama = Chris Brown
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
It creeps me out when Saban looks right into the camera when answering an interviewer's questions. Look at the person who's talking to you, you tool!
Real fans stay for Carmen.
@schooey Remember our first quarter? We'd have been down three TDs in the blink of an eye.
now at the end of the year, I think we'd have a shot. We're not ready yet
the one thing that will come from this, that has never made sense to me, is Bama/SEC fans will use this game as some sort of demonstration of Big 10 vs SEC...will say this though, after the 1st weekend of football games, OSU looks like the best team in the Big 10...long way to go but wow, conference is going to have a ton of average teams again.
@ Cplunk, you naailed it buddy. An "A" game is domination, we were good today, but not completely dominant.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Yes Bill O' Brien, your tears are as sweet as candy.....
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Bill O'Brien... feel for the guy... but he has no clue what to do.
I think Ohio is now my second favorite team.
You know Hoke is shaking in his boots- he is getting railed AND he thinks we won two games today
Tress would love the Auburn v. Clemson game: 19-16 (7 total FGs).
@ CPLUNK I totally agree with you, but the rest of the game we would do better. Whereas with Fichigan it is only going to get worse.
Jesus how did Georgia let Buffalo score 23 against them?
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Oh and 'Fuck Clemson'
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Lots of weird/sluggish results: Pitt, Stanford almost lost to SJ State, UGA, PSU, Iowa barely, Wisc . . .
Ellington is an awesome back
Clemson and Auburn is an iteresting game. I hate Auburn but I also want Clemson to fall in the rankings. Pretty even match-up so far.
Chris Fowler spewing a bunch of bullshit.
Yes, Auburn v. Clemson has been a good, interesting game with nice flow. Clemson threatening to go up midway through 4Q.
Boyd has looked pretty good, too.
Great fade route TD for Clemson.
great catch
@ Schooey
No question about it. The two worst that exist. The only one I can think of that might compete is Pam Ward and I think she got fired last year.
Loving this game btw. Michigan getting used and abused. Hope all the recruits we are fighting them for are watching this.
They benefited from a cupcake schedule last year. Played 2 good teams last year and went 1-1 against them. Easy schedules will hide a lot of deficiencies.
that was nice. I still think No one tops Devin Smith's catch today... prob all season.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
IS JB Shugarts playing for scUM tonight?
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Hoke has "lost his voice," which either means he's too much of a pissy biotch to talk to the media with his team getting killed, or his Whataburger order showed up and his mouth is otherwise occupied.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
Tie your shoes, dork
I hope Desmond Howard cries himself to sleep tonight.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
What was with the white suit Des busted out for gameday today?
Huge holes to run through. I could have been a 100 yard rusher in this game for Bama.
That's two sacks, Mussyburger, you biotch.
I'm watching two games, cooking food and drinking all day and I can keep better track of shit that idiot.
Herbstreit has basically given every bama skill player a Heisman trophy tonight
@Schooey I don't remember what teams were playing but I think there was a female announcer with Joey Galloway maybe??
@muss-15 was it northwestern v Syracuse?
Herbie and Brent are so bored right now
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Dude got lit up, holy crap.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
@STEENSN
WVU #11, Clemson #14 (-3)
OSU #18, Florida #23 (Lost, yet stil ranked higher. Difference of 5 spots)
Georgia #6, Mich St #13 (Lost, yet still ranked higher. 7 spots)
Not much of a difference in the grand scheme of things...
@cplunk good call. And now I remember Galloway being unhappy about the flag on the late hit out of bounds on Northwestern's QB
Oregon went for 2 on their opening TD, and they converted it. I still think that's pretty dickhead to do.
So now if Bama scores one more TD the final score will be 41-14. Ha, I like that very much
Also, over on Spike Luke just refused to turn to the dark side, so things are looking good for the rebel alliance
Love watching Denard's hair and shoelaces fly in the air every time he gets popped...poetic really
Anyone else see that loud mouth Ondre Pipkins getting thrown around like a ragdoll? Quite funny.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
What did Musberger say a little bit ago that Herbie freaked out about?
Bama has taken their foot off the gas now.
Hoke's second chin continues to remain surprisingly calm.
Is Hoke more of a pro-style guy? In other words, is this performance still a result of these being mostly Rich Rodriguez's talent?
41-14, I don't know how to feel about this
Ok, but as long as Ohio St takes care of business on the field, they will get in because they're Ohio St and play in a major BCS conference. Unless the B1G loses members or becomes almost completely irrelevant (like the Big East before WVU and others jumped ship), they will remain a major BCS conference. The B1G hasn't approached this level of irrelevancy in my mind... maybe it has in yours though
http://www.ridethepine.com/funny/brent-musburger-curse/?utm_source=rss&u...
If anyone thinks that the Big Ten percieved strength doesn't help or hurt OSU you are living in a fantasy world...
41-14 will be a fitting score LOL!!!!!
@Steensn never bothers USC
Go Toledo, beat RichRod.
I can't even believe you are guys are arguing this...
I feel bad for RR, but will have to root for Toledo.
Wow OkSt beat savannah st 84 to 0. That is just wrong in so many ways. LOL
Michign took the beating, only Toussaint and that other guy got out of it.
Wuold Toussait have made a difference?
What would result of OSU vs. Bama today have been?
Steensn: you're making the right argument during the wrong year. The ideal season for the Buckeyes will be to demolish every BT team, win the east by 2 games, but not be able to play in the BTCG. So, the BTCG pits something like Purdue versus a two loss MSU or Nebraska. A good year for Ohio State is going to be embarassing for the BT.
@STEENSN
You keep talking about perception... Don't doubt for a second that pollsters perceive Urban Meyer as having damn good teams. That will be enough to keep us ranked high enough to be in contention, regardless of the rest of the conference.
@Schooey: If OSU played Alabama today, I'd say Alabama wins 27-17.
SCUM blows lol
O'Deez330
stark county football
Dbit: I agree, Urbz trumps general perceptions about the BT.
OK, so you are a wealthy college football coach, would you rather live in MI or AZ?
We don't say "Go blow!" for nothing.
the Rockets beating RR would cap a perfect night
O H I O is the Buckeye State
I'm rooting for the Rockets rather than against RR. Tress a-- raped RR and left him for dead in an alley. What more damage can be done to the poor harmless creature?
