Scary isn't it? Either we are prepared to tackle better or he may get more than that! Good running back and I can't even guess what numbers he might put up.
May be more...in a loss IMO. Unless there's some change in defensive players or defensive personnel...or both perhaps. I see 175 being very possible. We can't stop a third string back from Cal or a conference USA RB...why would "anyone" think Bell doesn't carve our defense like a Thanksgiving turkey??? I sure can't say otherwise with what we've seen so far....So....
Edited due to overraction bc of 11 Yuenglings on Saturday...IMHO I can see OSU's defense stopping Bell IF they tackle and are in the right defensive schemes. I'm not sure what's wrong with tackling but it's been atrocious from some players. Just watch Bigelow's two long runs for Cal and you'll see what I'm talking about. They figure that out...put 8 or roll up 9 in the box...play and coach like their hairs on fire...I say they win. Play like the last two to three games...they lose. It's that easy...100 or less or 200 or more.

i don't know. every team we've faced so far has done an incredible job of taking our dline out of the game. miami with their moving pocket, uab with their screen passes, cal with their speedy edge plays. i'm not sure msu can afford to leave their bread and butter on the table, power running. linebacker play is clearly our weakness, if dantonio drums something up that isolates our linebackers in space we might be in trouble, but he has already played a half of football w/o giving the ball to leveon bell enough (notre dame) and we know how that went. i'm gonna go with 120 yards though.
Our D wasn't that great at stopping the run last year either as Lamar Miller had what, 175 yards or something on us? But then we bounce back and hold Montee Ball to lke 65-70 yards when he rushed for almost 2000 and 40 Total TDs. So we'll see what happens, it just seems like we're having problems on the outside protecting the edges. Bell is more of a N/S runner which should make it a little easier on our D... plus we'll have Barnett, Roby and Bennett back on D.
I'd say he gets around 125. Like Bucknasty said, the defense knows he'll be getting the rock a lot. Plus MSU doesn't have any semblance of a passing game other than Dion Sims at TE.
Hahahaha how many yards was Montee Ball going to get against our D last year? 350? A guy who is 6'2'' 250 isn't going to be as shifty as the Cal RB who made guys miss.
I say he gets about 90, on about 28 carries. If you really think the D has been focused the last few weeks and has played their best then just el oh el at you guys
Depends on the context of the game. If Sparty is trailing most of the second half, then expect numbers like Bell put up against Notre Dame. If they're ahead, then he can run it for 4-5 yards/carry all night long.
Buckeye06 is right on here. Wiscy was without a doubt the best offense we faced last year, and our D had its best game of the year (at least until Wilson went off). Wiscy played right into our strength. LBs that were lost in other games attacked the los and stuffed Ball. MSU will likely try the same thing, and maxwell is no Wilson. He's not even Cousins. Buckeyes play best game of the year and win 24-13.
Random guess 267 (1 yard for every day that's pass so far)
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
This actually might fit into our defenses hands perfectly....Our problems have been tackling in space. They are going to run this guy into Hankins and Goebel (Our 2 best defenders so far this year) with Simon/Schutt/Washington/Bennet? rotating in as well. They wont be running nearly as many quick screens or 3 step drops against us and their qb is horrible
150ish. But it'll be a hard 150, over a boatload of carries. I don't think he breaks off many huge runs like the quick guys from Cal and UCF were able to. Those lateral and openfield tackles are what has caused most of the problems.
UAB's tailbacks were running through 5 yard wide craters in the OSU defense on numerous play-action fakes, and I doubt it was because our LBer's were reading and reacting to the play-action so quickly. If the UAB RB's had gotten some of those handoffs, they would have rushed for over 175yards.
Sabino stepped his play up a bit yesterday, but the fact the LBers are easily blocked, shoddy tacklers and over-run in pursuit will spell trouble against Sparty, unless a steady diet of Run-Blitzes are used.
If OSU holds Bell to under 100 yards rushing and MSU under 150 yards team rushing, I'll gladly change my poster name to: NoFaithPrincess.
JohnBlair: I could see Bell rushing for like 130 yards, himself, but the Buckeyes getting to Maxwell a bunch of times and thus MSU's net rushing yards being like 120 yards. That scenario lets you off the hook.
In the event that you do have to change your name to NoFaithPrincess, though, will you also be changing your "avatar" to fit the new name? Lots of interesting possibilities . . .
I'd say around 160. MSU will run him all game unless we stop it. The key will be stopping the run on first down and forcing them into passing situations as much as possible.
I'm thinking about 145...we will play alot less nickel and more straight up with a freshman quarteback and not much of a passing game. Very low scoring. B1G football time.
I think he is around 100 yards. They run the ball a lot and Ohio State knows that. If they were a "balanced" 50/50 team, I would be a little more nervous. Should be a good game though.
I'm thinking the staff has been hiding their hand a little the past four weeks. From the start, Urban has said they are slowly adding things to the offense. I'm hoping they are going to do the same for the defense.
I'd still say he gets more than 100 yards because he's just a good player and deserves respect. My guess is 136.
Defensive problems in this game shows our hand for the season. MSU is OSU offense of the past. Power running with a few throws for good measure. If we cannot stop them with their mediocre OL and QB, we are in trouble for the remainder of the season. Nebraska will be licking their chops. I am hopeful, as always. We are very young and learning with a new staff. IT TAKES TIME FOLKS. Bell goes for 125 but between the 20s.
I think Bell will be around 120 yards, with over 30 carries. What's the over/under for carries for Bell? What about Braxton? I think Braxton may have over 25 carries.
I'm not sure if we can afford to stack the box... I know Maxwell isn't a very good passer, but I don't want to stack the box early and take a chance at going down early in East Lansing. Their defense is good enough that we can't get down by too much. I do believe we will see Braxton unleashed now that B1G play is starting. I think they will use him as much as they need to win. Could see a 200 yard game from Braxton in B1G play.
Considering that Maxwell is not that good of a passer and the receivers are not much better, if MSU has any hopes of winning, they will pound Bell at OSU. Will he carry as much as he did against BSU, probably not, but I don't think they will abandon him like they did against ND. Look for 20 some carries and 100+ yards. If the defense still hasn't learned the concept of wrapping the ball carrier by next week, add another 50 yards to that total.
Less than 120 agreeing with people above, everyone points to the Cal 3rd stringer but remember he is a shifty back while Le'Veon is a power back. He will get a bunch of carrys and get some yards, but won't blow up the stat column like people think.
I just hope he doesn't go all Ron Dayne on us. I'm hoping for less than 150. I have no faith in the D right now and that makes me sick.
I was listening to the MSU game as I drove back from Cbus on Saturday. Has anyone else noticed that the MSU radio host makes Leveon's name sound like "Labia". I had a chuckle over that one driving up Route 23.
Stck the box and force Maxwell to beat us, on screens or quick routes or whatever, But I don't think they have the talent or experience at WR. IF he can connect and move the chains Bell goes 200+. If Maxwell can't move the chains with an effecient pass game, we shut down the power run game and Bell is held under 100 on 28 carries and OSU wins by double digits.
I'm going with 105. I think he'll have a solid day but not one for the record books. Stopping the run game consisting of a big back running between the tackles should be right in this defense's wheelhouse.
Personaly I don't think Maxwell will handle the big-time game atmosphere well enough to open things up for bell.
Hope I'm not wrong!
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
Sigh........ though I'm happy with the game results, now starts the morning after process of changing to TheNoFaithPrincess. Eating crow, but happy to do so.
Exactly, everyone who was wrong should be happy to eat this crow. I mean 300 yards from a guy who runs up the gut when we have an all-american tackle there?
The funny part of this is that MSU didn't even try to run it yesterday; they just knew it wouldn't work. They had twice as many passing attempts as rushing attempts.

No idea why everyone was so concerned about Le'Veon Bell. I posted somewhere after our piss poor tackling game against Cal that I had confidence in us shutting down MSU's offense/Bell after watching them against Notre Dame. The difference in the Cal game was these quick little speed backs out on the edge and our players often taking terrible angles to get there taking themsleves out of position to make the tackle or overrunning the play altogether (ahem, Shazier). The way Hankins and Goebel had been playing in the middle I had no doubt that MSU was going to fail if they tried to run right at us.
Scary isn't it? Either we are prepared to tackle better or he may get more than that! Good running back and I can't even guess what numbers he might put up.
Definitely concerning. Our defense is like swiss cheese.
May be more...in a loss IMO. Unless there's some change in defensive players or defensive personnel...or both perhaps. I see 175 being very possible. dont be to negative mackeyo its rather sad

MSU is going to run him all day. Expect an insane amount of carries and an insane amount of yards... 200+

Against this defense? 400 isn't out of the question!
I'd go 145 if Bennett comes back, 175 if he doesn't.

Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
65 yards is my guess
108 and one TD for Bell
14-27 185 yards 2 INTs for Maxwell
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
88 big rebound for D this week. Have come to god moment. Bucks win
I'd say close to 300 before they pull him in the 3rd quater because his legs are tired.
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
I don't think he breaks 100.

278 yds
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
From what I've seen I'd say 200+

133 yards in a loss
Similar to Javon Ringer's IMO, http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=282920127
Less than 120.
Class of 2010.
Less than 100 yards. The silver bullets are going to flex this weekend.

^^^oh, for sure. Complete make over.
With as good as our defense has made the first 4 opposing QB's look, I'm afraid of how good we're going to make that no talent douche Maxwell look.
79 yards running - 25 passing - 104 all purpose yards in a tight game in which the Buckeyes do indeed win...

I'm guessing around 145 on the ground. Luckily, Maxwell will struggle and the Bucks will pick a couple off. Bucks win a close one.
I'd say around 160. MSU will run him all game unless we stop it. The key will be stopping the run on first down and forcing them into passing situations as much as possible.
over 200 yards and a couple of touchdowns. bad tackling doesnt get fixed overnight.
I'm thinking about 145...we will play alot less nickel and more straight up with a freshman quarteback and not much of a passing game. Very low scoring. B1G football time.
shortbus20
He won't break 100. The defense has nothing to key on except Bell. At some point, that has to help the Buckeyes and hurt Sparty.
Because we couldn't go for three.
I think he is around 100 yards. They run the ball a lot and Ohio State knows that. If they were a "balanced" 50/50 team, I would be a little more nervous. Should be a good game though.

157 for Bell, but Maxwell struggles to complete half his passes and barely crosses the 150 yard mark through the air.
