Just wanted to get everyones opinion. For me its Nate Williams..he beat his man off the edge over and over and made some really good plays dropping into coverage. Right behind him Big Hank, just dominated the interior line. For the most part much much better effort from the whole defense.

I posted my immediate thoughts on the game and I gave the nod to Reid Fragel. I've been saying William Gholston is the best end in the nation and Fragel ate his lunch and took his car keys.
Nate and Hank did some real work today though...
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Fragel is an easy choice for me. Although Hankins def. needs to be considered.
Yea i just read that and definetly agree with you on that one. I think without the effort he put forth and Nate we dont win that game. The only reason i said Williams is because for the most part he gave us a consistent pass rush without blitzing. Maxwell still had and ok day but without that bit of pressure he could have had some more big plays. And as to your post i agree on hank, he was nothing short of ridiculous on the interior line. Really REALLY hope to see him back next year.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Braxton Miller is the obvious choice IMO but I thought Fragel, Sabino, and Hankins were all fantastic
Is this like an "other than the obvious Miller" kind of thing? If not, suggesting anyone other than Miller is just ridiculous.
Fragel or Hankins. Miller had to many turnovers.

Nate Williams, Fragel, Sabino, Braxton..all deservingly so.

Huh? Braxton turned the ball over three times and made a throw that should have been a 4th. More so, we got bailed out on a non call fumble that would have been a TD the other way.
Big, ugly men won the day today. Not the QB.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Hankins is as good as gone. You don't pass up top 5 in the NFL draft and that's what he's looking like through 5 games.

I vote the O line. They had a HUGE push all day.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
Braxton also won the game with his runs and perfect pass to Devin Smith. I listed him last for a reason Brewster lol

Miller had a great game. But I don't think he played nearly as good of a game he could have. Which I would say is kind of a dickish thing to say because we expect so much from him-and he normally delivers. The turnovers are kind of the thing that stop me from considering him today. The defense held one of the bigger and best backs in the nation to a pultry statistical total on the ground. Big Hank in the middle I think needs a ton of credit. Every time the ball was handed off, the interior lineman of MSU were in the backfield because of Hank and Goebel
On to Fragel. Gohlston destroyed us last year. Fragel nutralized him today, giving Miller the time necessary to run/throw.
Fragel did a great job adjusting to Gholston, and Gholston disappeared in the 4th quarter. Fragel all the way.
Tip of the hat to the medical staff, though.
I would have to go Fragel as well. He had some key blocks late, but the block on 3 & 4 was huge.
Miller turned it over but he was fantastic against probably the best defense in the league. Also showed toughness coming back after what looked like a pretty bad knee injury. Not to take away from the big guys at all, but I say Miller.
Yea im not gunna bash braxton too much. He did turn the ball over 3 times but were gunna live and die on his success all year. He still had a good game but not gunna call him player of the game with all those turnovers. The pick was eh..he doesnt throw too many of those and it was a great play by the defender..but those fumbles need to stop...tuck that thing away if your gunna take the contact.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Gotta give a shout out to Roby here since no one else has... Big Hank and Fragel also very deserving of honors.
Roby played his balls off! He's not really a lockdown guy yet but he makes plays all over the field.

Big Hank
Roby? Costly Penaltys..made some great plays like usual tho
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
BuckeyeJason-I think this is our 'once a month' agreement. Hankins should go. He is looking at 9 figures from the NFL in a few months. I would love to see him back...he's a big time player.
Has it been said yet? He talked the talk and really, REALLY walked it today. Whenever Bell got the ball, Hank was there. I found it SO tasty that the first tackle of the game went to Hank on Bell. As if to say "I'm gonna be here all day bitch".
Pardon the language.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I think it was Hyde, that huge 3rd down conversion run late in the 4th did it for me
Hank & that D-Line did a fine job stopping the run

The interception was really a great play by the defender, not a great throw from Miller, but not the worst I've ever seen from him. The two fumbles are bad though. The entire defense deserves to be nominated for the player(s) of the game. They completely took out Bell and made Sparty one dimensional. With the exception of the horrible tackling effort on the TD pass, the defense was pretty damn good today.
For me it was def the O-line as a unit, the whole defense, and im even gonna give a shoutout to the defensive staff for getting these guy to play better TEAM defense for the first time this season a great win today to give us momentum for the rest of the season.
It is tough not to say the whole defense because they definetly brought it after looking so mediocre the first 4 games. Maxwell got his, but that was the plan and it worked out great. I dont know what Bells final ypc was..but im guessing somewhere in the 2s??
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Scotty Bell was 2.6 and MSU was 1.5 ypc for the game
This game kinda reminded me of 2007 when we played them at home and shut down their then hyped up running game and ended up winning a nail biter.

You know who else slipped in below the radar? Especially because he did blow coverage at least twice...OJ played an all around game, save for the missed coverage a time or two. He was out there hitting fools.

Nah bro I gotta go with Curtis Grant!..oh wait did he play?

yes, Ohrian Johnson did very well

Carlos Hyde ran HARD today and came up with big plays at the end.
dont say that dude they'll flame you here for that! lol. Can we officially get off the Rod Smith and Curtis Grant love fest? lol

I go with Sabino. Minus that strip attempt on the TD, he had a career game. Sack, big pressure late, lots of tackles, all around a good game. No penalties either.

travis howard was lockdown today i dont remember any balls being completed on him today and he tackled well. other than braxton with 315 total yds, game clinching td, and impressive toughness after a few injuries vs a top 10 def, id go fragel too man he looks like he'll be playing on sundays now wih the move to ot great move by him and meyer

My vote goes to the training staff.
In all seriousness, Fragel gets the game ball. Gholston is a huge task for anyone, and Fragel really stepped up.
I like all the love for Hyde. The one thing this offense seems to lack at times is the downhill between the tackles run game. If he can bring that to the table on a consistent basis this offense goes from sporatically good to consistently solid.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Upon further review consistently solid doesnt really make any sense..but you guys know what im getting at
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Reid Fragel & Nate Williams
Reid Fragel. If I have a son, I'm naming him Fragel. Well, the wife says that's a negative. Great job in the trenches anyway.

I thought Hankins and Williams were the players of the game, but now that I see the comments, Fragel and the O-line did a great job too. I can't give it to Braxton or either of the CBs. Braxton is obvious, but Roby and Howard both had penalties, and I think they both blew at least one coverage or tackle.
3 way tie Hankins/ Fragel/ Hyde
Fragel looks like he could be a hell of a lineman in the NFL
^Hyde over Williams and Sabino? Hyde had one good series.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
Fragel Rock!!
Hyde looked good, although I felt like OSU was much more dynamic that first drive when they were able to switch between Hall and Hyde. I'm excited to see them in a year or two when you combine Hyde (good mix of shiftyness + strength + vision), Smith/Dunn (power back), and Elliot (speed + shiftyness).

Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
Offense - Miller obviously. Just like every game.
Defense - Bino. He finally showed up today, seemed like he was all over the field.
I think Williams was the most improved. I don't recall any missed tackles though I was watching with company.
Hyde ran impressively with the obvious help of the O-line but he also had some really good blocks downfield which I really love to see. He was all-in!
"Lets beat the shit out of Michigan".... Urban. Frank. Meyer.
I'd say the whole team. The offense stay on the field long enough to give the defense a rest and the chance to make adjustments and the defense shutdown sparty after our turnovers. The Offenseive kept our D fresh enough to tired down and confuse Bell, and our D gave our Offensive the ball back when we needed it most.

I would have to give it to Big Hank, he was getting his eyes gouged and still played great all day. I thought Fragel played great, and I dont want to take anything away from his effort. But everyone saw when Gholston was out cold snuggling Braxton right?? No chance he had the "wind knocked" out of him. Even if thats what he told the training staff, guy clearly got his bell rung and eggs scrambled. Again not to take anything away from the way Fragel played, but IMO he wasnt playing a full strength Gholston. That said either way he had a very good day, which should could be a huge confidence booster for him and hopefully set him up for a great rest of the season.
I have to say the whole offensive line. Through all the bad things this year I don't think the offesnsive line has been an issue at all, which was not the case last year. And we all thought it could be an issue this year but it hasn't.
Hard to choose one guy, but I'm going to go with Reid Fragel. He held a future NFL'er in Gholston in check the entire game.
It was a team effort today. Multiple big plays but if were going to throw out the team accomplishments then I'd like to honor the MSU receivers. Had they had an A game, Michigan State beats us. Happy to have this win. I know MSU's Offense is well, offensive, but this is a solid win.
Over the course of the game, I'd go with Reid Fragel. For when we needed it most, Carlos Hyde really came through
Fragel got the benefit of a woozy Gholston most of the game. Williams made some spectacular plays, but lost a number of one-on-one situations. Both played well, but Hank was killin' people despite ever-present double-teams. Hank is the man, today.
"The revolution will be televised."
This is awesome...so many guys played well that we have this many names thrown out. Go Bucks!!!
My vote goes to Hankins as well.
Roby had a great day too, minus the two penalties.
Ranking the best players of the game.
1. Big Hank
2. Fragel
3. Sabino
4. Shazier
5. Hyde
6. Miller
7. Howard
8. Roby

Can't count out Urban in convincing guys to stay put for their senior years. He convinced almost everyone to come back for tebows senior year. This is prob only relevant to hank but there's a shot.
I have to go with MSU receivers for some nice drops. It seems the secondary is still a work in progress.

I agree with everybody on Fragel - great day for him & Hank too... but for me, I thought Nate Williams was a complete animal out there today. Constantly was in Maxwells face & generally seemed to be at the right place at the right time...Yeah - I'm going with Nate Williams who played his best game this year!

A lot of good choices today. Hankins probably gets my vote becaue he was consistently awesome all day. Fragel and Sabino were also high on the list.
Fragel and Hank, both had great games on either side of the ball.
The whole defense...they were great! A few reminders of games 2-4's bad tackling (like this) and a few stupid penalties but not as many as before. If they play like they did most of MSU game for the remainder of the year, then OSU will be just fine.

^^^^^ I don't think you can go wrong with anyone on our defense as player of the game. They were absolutely steller. Braxton has to get better on offense as far as making proper reads and not turning over the football. other than that I am very impressed

hard to pick just one guy, but hankins talked tough before the game and backed it up. shutting down bell was key. hank is my game mvp
HANK THE TANK, HANK THE TANK!
Can we get a picture of that Old School movie poster with Will Ferrell as Frank the Tank and photoshop Hank's head there? HANK THE TANK!
I really thought Fragel rock put in some work today as well

Lots of players stepped up here. Fragel did really well, Devin and Philly had pretty good games, our DL did awesome, etc. etc. Total team win, I love it.
I was watching some of the game over, and I wanted to mention that Golston was ineffective against both Mewhort and Fragel, as he switched sides a lot (maybe more Mewhort), before he got injured. Golston's only big play was on Hall because of Braxton's misread. Fragel also pounced on Philly's fumble. Gotta give that line credit . . .
