I agree, D. Grant played good and Howard plays too far off the line on every play. Howard might be a better safety than corner, the way he plays so far of the line.
It's not just the fact that he plays so far off the line, its that Hea just a very average cover corner. Never seems to improve, he always seems to be chasing his reciever with the ball..he's always around the play where a reciever is making a great catch. Add to that, he doesn't look real fluid like a corner should look.
Celebrating every little stupid thing he does is also annoying as hell!
I'd rather see grant in here against these spread looks as opposed to another safety. Having Brown/Bryant/Johnson in the game makes far less sense to me than Howard/Roby/Grant
I thought Big Hank played well also and covered alot of ground as a interior lineman.Sabino missed several tackles and Storm got all the playing time at MLB. Where was Roby?
Grant is the next great CB for Ohio State IMO, massive upside to him and to be honest, with the way our DBs play, he could be the best one we have come the end of the season.
Should be starting over Howard...better in space...faster...and doesn't get stuck on an island all by himself in simple zone coverages.

Doran Doran is giving me plenty of hope for the future secondary units. I really hope Roby comes back next year to help us win a Championship but if he leaves, I feel better about his replacement now.
As for MLB, I fully believe that is the one singular glaring weakness on defence. Whether its Storm Klein or C. Grant, neither one is either talented enough, fast enough, or enough of a leader to man the middle linebacker spot. That is the difference between a real Ohio st. defense and the 'artist formerly known as' that we've put on the field the last two years. I'm not worried about the Dbs, the D-line, or even the rest of the linebackers, its only ONE spot that sucks and its making the whole defense look bad. I hope Urban's got a plan for someone else at MLB next year because C. Grant will prevent us from our entitled national title.
I said t all along get him in there and Howard out.

Roby was injured, however if we were playing a conference game I'm certain he would've played
I thought Rod Smith looked good. Philly Brown and Hall also played well. Stoneburner was disappointing again, though.
Make Grant the Star. He can tackle and cover. Corey Brown cannot cover at all. Orian looks a bit off sometimes in space. Give Grant a shot.
We need a MLB in a hurry. Klein missed a number of tackles today as well and was only slightly more often in the correct spot.
yes played very well our top 3 corners are very strong i wish they let them press. i'd like to see grant in at nickle when its a for sure pass
