It looked like, on several occasions, that the RB would move forward in motion and not come set before the ball was snapped. Look at a clip of the catch by Smith, and you will see what I'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pirizn5I22Y Why isn't that illegal motion?
I saw this a lot today. I thought motion players could only move parallel to the line of scrimmage. Can anyone explain this?







He looks set to me. As soon as he jump stops he is set. Its a fine line, so I could see a picky ref calling it, but it doesn't take much to be set.
Ya, I think the main thing they are looking for is whether the back is moving forward at the snap. As long as they stop moving I rarely see anything called, and yes they can move parallel.
