I'v been very impressed with the O line play this year. Yesterdays game just reaffirmed my belief that our O line has stepped it up this year. Fragel played like a monster verse Gholston. The only sacks I remember giving up was Braxton holding the ball too long and a well called blitz off the left edge. Also our recievers have been blocking well this year. Overall I'm very impressed. What do you guys think?

I was at the game yesterday and haven't gotten to rewatch it yet...but yes I've been very impressed with things blocking wise prior to yesterday's game (won't comment on yesterdays o-line play til I rewatch it). The run blocking all around has been fantastic in my opinion. I feel like we could give Brax a tad more time in the pocket sometimes but a lot of teams bring a lot of blitzes from all over after us. This is probably Ohio State's least talented top to bottom and one of the least deep offensive lines we've had and I think they are performing just as well if not better than most any talent rich Jim Bollman coached line I can think of.
They have made improvements for sure. They did very well yesterday against a good D-Line.
Best O Line play in years. In other news, Boston College OLine has regressed significnatly this year.
Yes, the line has been much better, particularly in pass blocking. Hiring Warriner away from ND was a huge coup. In a pass-heavy system at ND, that offensive line, composed of mediocre-to-good talent, gave up something like 30 fewer sacks than ours did last year, and that was a team that passed only when it absolutely had to.
The best thing about yesterday is that that is likely the best defensive line we'll play this year. Next best is... Penn State, maybe?
Hope we're paying Warriner enough to keep him around.
The North remembers.
I saw Devin Smith blow at least a couple important blocks on screens to Philly yesterday, did you not see those? Speaking of which, wouldn't it make more sense to line Stoneburner up wider and throw those to his side?
Regarding the O-line, so far so good, but you also haveto remember that having Braxton back there covers up lots of protection breakdowns. I bet Joe Germaine would have been sacked 3x as much as Braxton. Also would have 3x as many TD passes, but that's not the point ;).
Agreed about throwing those to Stoney's side...but honestly I didn't think those screens out to Philly were well developed. A couple just took way too long to develop and that's asking a lot out of your WR to hold a block in the open field for that long.
Ya Fragel has really stepped up along with all of them. I'm so happy we have Warriner in there coaching these guys up. It'll take a few recruiting classes to fix the depth issues, but we're heading in the right direction. I hope Fragel can make it to the NFL!
Remember a few weeks ago when people were talking about the need to bench Fragel so the younger Decker could get more PT????? I'm glad Fragel is making the transition well. He deserves it. Quite honestly, I always liked him a little better at TE than Stoney anyway.
Yesterday was definitely the o-line's most complete game. Still room to improve, but love the direction they're going.
"The revolution will be televised."
There have been a few people that are saying Fragel is a legitimate NFL prospect.
This has been the best o-line play in a long time. I don't know if its the spread offense and zone read that helps but they have looked looked really good so far this year.
Lets see how Reid plays the rest of the season before we crown him an NFL prospect. Remember Shugarts and Brewster were 3 and 4 year starters and they weren't drafted.
Why are fans so quick to say things like "Braxtons the greatest runner of all time" after 4 games and "Reid Fragel is going to be an NFL player" after a few good outings? I'm not saying these things won't happen but it's funny how fans are so quick to say things like that.

Lippertini- I wasn't calling our WR blocking perfect but just saying for a WR they're throwing pretty good blocks from what I remember in the past. I would agree having Stoneburner on that side would be better for blocking
I haven't really read anyone saying Fragel is a lock for the NFL, people think he could be an NFL prospect, and you are right there is a lot of season left. Certainly looked good against the best D-line this team will see this year though. Hopefully, he can keep it up. I'm happy for the kid though, especially since people, before they even played a game, were saying he should be coming off the bench and let the Freshman play.
Braxton may not be the best runner ever, but he's the best running QB I've seen at Ohio State. Pryor probably would of been better, but they didn't run him as frequently, and he's a different kind of runner anyway.
I'm happy for Reid as well. I'll be honest and admit I said preseason if Decker is just as good as Reid and is pushing him that much they should go with the younger talent. Glad to see Reid stepped it up. Yes Braxton's the best running QB in OSU history..as far as speed, moves, potential...but I'm referring to the thread where someone said he's the best running QB ever in the history of football.

Yeah that's dumb, maybe after 2014 that'll be the case, but it's quite a bit early to be making those kind of statements.
As Meyer gets his type of players into the game, I see Braxton running less and less. The next couple of years I just don't see him getting the gaudy numbers running the ball like this year.
I agree, the line play has been phenomenal. Keep warriner around! Half the reason we were so bad last year was because of terrible line play.
O-line and D-line both looked good. Think we will steadily improve week to week. It will all come together in time.
