Miles has reported on Twitter that the OSU staff told Ryan Timmons not to commit anywhere else, and they would offer him if they have an open spot... I know this is just a small step, but it's one step closer to Waycracken's dreams coming true...

I was just about to post something like this.
Thanks SEC and 125
Just looking out for you... I know how much you want Timmons in S&G... I wouldn't mind having him in this class... I just think Gibson and Quick are higher on the staff's board. Obviously he's a plan B option since the staff is telling him they will offer if they have a spot left. IMO I think they are thinking Quick to Louisville and saving Timmons as a back up if Gibson can't get his test scores up.
If original plans don't fall through, an offer will happen, nothing new to report here
I think we see Gibson in this class and then if we dont land Bell that could be where a spot for Timmons opens up.... obviously I'd rather have Bell but Timmons wouldn't be a bad backup plan in case we can't land Bell.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
@Gene... BJ brings up a good point... Who do we have to miss on to end up with Timmons in this class?
Guessing Quick...
@Derek... What's your feeling on Quick? I know he had Louisville and OSU even at one point... I'd take him over Timmons, but not sure how confident I feel about him being a Buckeye.
Should be taking 2 WR's, Gibson points to all signs Buckeye, then we would have to miss out on Quick, then Devon Allen. If that happens, Timmons should get an offer.
I watched Allen's highlight tape and wasn't impressed. Just my opinion.
I agree I would rather have Timmons over Allen I have never been very high on him. Looks more like a track star playing football, rather than an athlete who happens to run track. I don't think if we miss on Bell it would necessarily affect skill players, if we miss on Bell I see Worley taking that spot.
Other people would disagree but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Allen plays deeper competition, that's why he's higher on the list. Also a track freak athlete. There is a reason why Timmons film is better.
I would be excited as hell to get Timmons. He has hybrid RB/WR written all over him. And by god, if Waycracken is happy, then so am I.
if Timmons gets his offer I don't know who I will be happier for him or waycracken lol
Of the WR's left I think this is their order:
Gibson
Quick
Timmons
Allen
The order is based on who I would like to see... Personally I'd like to load up on skill position players, but I understand what kind of D the staff is trying to build. I think Tennessee is going to start 6-0, so Bell could be headed to UT. They'll beat UF and UGA this year. Prob end up 10-2.
@SEC I disagree, there are currently 5 WRs with offers. Allen is one of them, Timmons is not.
Watched some of Timmons highlights from last year... like the kid. Wouldn't mind him joining the family.
i know some folks have said timmons doesnt face as stiff of competition as the others with offers, but this much i know about timmons: he has 4.4 speed (perhaps better than that) and very good hands. havent seen him drop a pass or fumble this year, and i have seen some vicious down field blocking by him. saw him go up in the air in traffic on the sidelines and snag the ball, last week he was tripled teamed and caught the pass and scored. and he is coachable. he has this much going for him. as for facing top flight competition, well he doesnt make out the schedule. but with his speed and hands, good coaching will do wonders for him and whatever team he lands with.
So they want him to just sit, and wait on a "possible" offer, that very well may never come, while offers from other Big-Time D1 schools are on the table? If he agreed to that, I'm ready to sign this kid up because he REALLY wants to be a Buckeye!
@stu, I agree and I'm sure many others do, but its the same comparison as looking at Ezekiel Elliott, who puts up great numbers in state tournament games against top competition, and Deveon Smith, who puts up inflated stats against some of the worst teams in Ohio. I'll take Elliott, but that doesn't mean Smith can't be good.
Even though Allen has an offer I don't think we would accept a commitment from him at this point.
@buck, yup i agree with you. i rather have elliott, than smith for sure, but i bet smith will have a good career too, if he responds to coaching and stays healthy. not too picky, i would be thrilled with quick, gibson, timmons, one or all 3, i love speed. to bad urban doesnt have his full allotment of scholarships.
I think Gibson is better than Timmons, and they are more comparable as players than Timmons and Quick. They both play WR, but are smaller slot type guys. Gibson has similar speed, but where he lacks there, he picks up in route running ability, strength, and the pure instinct as a WR that is developed by playing competition that actually looks like a real defense. Timmons runs through clusters of guys lost in coverage because the competition is so weak.
The point is, if we missed on/it didn't work with Gibson, I'd take Timmons as a replacement. I don't, however, see him as a replacement for Quick.
Guys....
What about Bob (Foster)?....
Only kidding ;)
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
it is kind of interesting indeed, if he is expected to sit and wait for an offer. i just cant imagine anyone doing that. why would a talented kid want to wait for something that more than likely isnt going to happen, and pass up other chances to play for someone else?
The level of comp thing is a little overstated. I saw Trotwood and Springfield both play last year and neither one was overwhelming. Matter of fact I would say Timmons team Franklin County would put up a 60 against either one. From FC's distict you had the state runner up who Franklin County beat by 40. Unfortunately Timmons team went 11-0 and then had a very poor performance to lose their 1st game.
Gibson was blown away heads up at FNL so I disagree saying he is nearly as fast. Timmons beat him by 3-4 yds.
If you think FC would put 60 up on Trotwood, you're delusional. University, one of the best teams in the country beat Trotwood bad, and didn't come close to 60. I hardly think a middling to upper-level team in a state lacking good competition would even win at all, let alone score like that.
waycraken is right it was proven timmons is the fastest at FNL... im on board sign him up
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
As I said, yes, Timmons is faster, but lacks other things that Gibson has picked up from playing actual teams, and receiving better coaching to become a WR.
Once again I think we have to resort to trusting the coaching staff... I think Timmons would already have an offer if we didn't have scholly restrictions. I'd prefer Gibson and Quick but if we don't get one of them I would like to have Timmons. I'm not impressed with Allen and I don't think North leaves the south. Stevens (FSU commit) has shown interest but I don't think it is strong enough. Therefore, I see us in the running for 3 WR's left in this class and I think we end up with 2 of them. And yes Timmons must really want to be a Buckeye if he waits for the offer.
I think we'll be in good shape regardless of which receiver(s) we end up with. Like he said above - I trust the coaching staff on this one. They know a lot more than we do about what is going to make that offense explode on down the line! It's an exciting time to be a Buckeye fan. I don't see how we can lose with the guys on the board.
I agree with all above.
Timmons would be a great Plan B guy don't get me wrong, but I feel the staff knows what they are doing and who fits best in their scheme. Maybe if Timmons played better competition, he would have already gotten an offer, I think that's the factor right there. But I know Timmons will for sure get his offer if Quick and/or Allen goes elsewhere.
Timmons has a chance if OSU misses out on Quick.
Not sure who is preferred more out of Timmons and Allen. Just because Allen has an offer and Timmons doesn't really isn't a reflection in my opinion because I doubt Allen can commit to this offer. The offer was given to him to catch his attentinon most likely and an invite to camp whereas they may have not needed to do that for Timmons.
From what I saw at FNL..... Gibson > Timmons. Timmons may be faster but Gibson has a lot more burst off the line of scrimmage than Timmons. Timmons is fast, that isn't a doubt. He just didn't have the burst. Gibson would beat his man off the line and Timmons probably wouldn't against top level competition. Top flight speed is one thing, but do you have it immediately out of your stance is another.
So is Gibson more quick then fast, and Timmons more fast then quick?
Id say Quick is more Quick than both fo them...
You can teach a WR the technique to get off the line. Youre strength coach will make you stronger but the one thing you cannot teach is SPEED. Either you have it or you dont. Timmons has world class speed.
Doesn't matter as long as we get 1 or 2 of Quick, Gibson, Timmons, or Allen.
I really hope we pass on Allen. Not a fan at all.
of the recievers at fnl i would want gibson the most bcuz every db said he was the toughest to guard. the reason im on board with timmons is this hes crazy fast and really wants to be a buckeye o and regardless of the competition he is putting up crazy numbers
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
So basically Gibson is more polished right now, 2 weeks into his Senior season. Timmons is faster though and could be coached up to potenially have a higher ceiling. I guess the question is do you want the guy who can come in day one and potentially make an impact or do you want the guy who may take a year or 2 to realize his full potential.
If Timmons keeps putting up the insane numbers he has so far this year I'm sure he's going to garner plenty of attention.
I'm tired of hearing about the level of competition the guys play. We've had 5 stars from big schools come in and absolutely flop. Remember Rob Shoencroft? Guys from Glenville have come in and fallen on their faces too, so meh it really doesn't mean a lot to me.
I've also seen guys up close and personal dominate a weak NKY football league and go on to college and ultimately the NFL. Barker, the QB that many on this site really like, plays against terrible competition yet no one ever mentions that. So, meh.
That said the staff knows who/what they want and they've scouted Timmons, Timmons has camped here and still doesn't have an offer. He's obviously a plan B, but perhaps the team is more aware of him now than they were a couple months ago.
I have a feeling Quick isn't going to end up at Ohio State. Especially if Strong stays in Louisville. They looked pretty good the other day and are definitely headed in the right direction. I have a feeling a good year for Louisville combined with Strong staying put will land Quick in Louisville.
@BTalbert ... Those are some very interesting points you bring up. If his competition is so weak, and he is dominatiing week in, and week out he is doing what he is suppose to be doing. I also am beginning to have my doubts about J.Quick coming to OSU as well, but Strong will not be at Louisville for the next 3-4 years. I hope somebody is in his ear telling him that.
Charlie Strong is 1 of the next coaches in line for a top tier program. He'll be gone in 1-2 yrs imo.
I bet Strong is probably in Quick's ear saying he isnt going anywhere, regardless of if he means it. If Strong is still at Louisville on national signing day, I expect Quick to go there. If Strong leaves before then, I think Quick will end up a Buckeye.
As to where Strong may end up: I think either Tennessee or Georgia are the most likely places. If Georgia fails to make a BCS bowl again, Richt's seat could be getting very very warm. And Tennessee needs to have a strong season or they very well could decide to clean house.
Best case scenario: Georgia falters, Richt gets fired, Strong goes to Georgia, Quick (2013) McMillan (2014) and Glass (2014) decide without Richt at Georgia OSU is the clear choice :)
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Urban has been on Quick this entire time and Quick is not budging. He is a all Lousiville at this point unless I see/hear otherwise.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Unforturnately, there are no "BIG" jobs open in the B1G. Getting a guy like Strong in the conference would really go a long way toward strengthening the B1G. Will be a shame, but I agree, he'll probably end up on one of the SEC teams. Although, Tennessee looked pretty good week 1. So if Tennessee has a good year, and Georgia only loses a game or 2, I don't know that either school will be looking to replace their coach.
Quick hasn't been to a game yet, nor has he seen the offense in full form. Those are the two biggest selling points for us, and he hasn't seen them yet
Which I agree with Waycraken. But Gibson already has it, and Timmons will need to develop it when he gets to college. Timmons was very raw at FNL. Gibson looked like a guy that could contribute to the team quicker.
With that being said, Gibson is a bit more valuable as Meyer knows he needs help at WR immediately.
Gibson needs to refine aspects of his game too. His ball skills lack a bit.
As I love to hear WayCraken's boy getting alil love...I highly doubt it happens. If OSU's offense continues to get better (which I have no doubt it will) you'll see more interest from Quick and others.

Any chance we have a shot at Stevens or North? I know you guys have reported that North is interested in OSU, but do you really see him leaving the south?
Ryan T. Is pure speed speed speed speed .Get em URB.
