Nebby Pre-Game

I will be taking my parents to thier first-ever Ohio State game at the Shoe in nine days.  Needless to say we are all very excited (its my first night game, woo!).

What are some good places and functions I could take them to prior to the game?  My parents are most definately NOT the tailgating sort so that obviously limits options.  All I'm coming up with right now is Eddie's.  The Skull Session would be awesome, but I don't know what it takes to get into it.

All suggestions are appreciated!

Skull Session is free as free can be.   All it will cost you is a little extra time 'cause you want to show up early.

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

To get into Skull Session, you have to do one simple thing.  Get there early.  I mean real early.  If it starts 2 hours before kickoff, be there at least 3.5-4 hours before kickoff.  Sounds like a long time to sit around there, but they do at least have a high school band that'll play before TBDBITL makes their grand entrance.

There's always River Jam if they like live bands.  I miss the Danger Brothers, though.

If your parents aren't the tailgaiting type, I'd recommend (if coming from the North) to go South of campus all the way down to the Neil Avenue (and 670 east) exit on 315. Get off on Neil, turn left and head up into Victorian Village. When on Neil, you are 10 blocks from the stadium at that point.

Parking is free and not regulated down there. Park, head east to High Street and enjoy a calm/quasi gameday atmosphere at one of the restaurants or bars down there.  When you are ready, hail a cab and have them drive you as far north as they can on Neil Avenue ($10 max) and you'll be right in the thick of it.

For me personally (and someone who lives down there) it isn't my gameday scene, I want to be right in the middle of it. However, seeing that it is a night game and you will ahve some time before hand, I think it may be a good place for you to be

The Nebraska Skull Session will also feature the OSU Athletic Band (the one does everything BUT football). Im a freshman saxophone in the Athletic Band and am super pumped for my first skull session and night game!

Thanks for the suggestions!  I'll see what they're feeling up to.  I'm sure they would enjoy the skully, but may not be down for a 2 hour wait.

You don't have to be there 2 hours early. You can walk in 15 minutes before it starts and sit in the upper seats. There should be seats available, you just won't be close. Its worth it see the band and team. Then you can walk around the fields outside of St. Johns arena where there are tents set up and some OSU ralated stuff. They also tend to have a giant pumpkin and fall stuff outside of the stadium. There's usually a couple photo places where you pretend you are dotting the I and stuff. That stuff is usually free too.

*If you don't want to go to Skull Session, wait outside the front of the 'Shoe. The band and team march into the stadium and its usually a good time.
