From where I watch the game in the South Stands, it seems as though Miller just doesn't have the arm strength on a lot of his throws. I would have to say at least half of his incompletions have been underthrown, not including the interception today. I know it is just the second game but it has me concerned as to how well he will be able to throw once we get into B1G play. Anyone else like me or am I alone on this one?

He has the arm strength hes just not setting his feet when he throws. If you watch his feet on those under thrown balls you will see that his feet are never set. Needs to work on his footwork.
He has bad footwork. The guy can make plenty of throws. Herman has said the biggest thing they have to do is work on his footwork.
Last year against Wisky is all you need to know about his arm strength. Just poor footwork
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
All footwork.
throw more bean bags at him
He underthrows balls sometimes, but did you watch the UM game last year? Clearly, he overthrows also
^He throws off his back foot on those underthrows. I don't get why, he may be trying to make it look pretty and float it? I have no idea really, but man he throws some ducks, and he underthrows as well. Then again he is a sophomore who is just now receiving legitimate QB coaching, so there's that.
I understand he's not perfect, but he clearly looks way better throwing than last year
I almost think that there is something wrong with his grip on the ball. His arm strength is pretty damn good and his release is all world, but sometimes those things flutter on him. I am not sure I get it.
^^ I often wondered if he has small hands because he also seems to have issues w/ the snap at times.
Wow. IDK, Watching Braxton play at QB makes me glad he is a Buckeye. Dude is the real deal and better than #2 at similar points in their careers.
About the grip issue, earlier in the week there was a tidbit where someone asked him how he liked the new balls and Braxton said they were smaller and slippery. Said he had problems with them sometimes. It wasnt expanded on more though.
I wasn't trying to get on Miller's case, the kid is one of the best talents that I have seen come out of the high school ranks since Pat White or our own Terrelle Pryor, and I think that Braxton's (physical) throwing tools are light years ahead of almost any QB that I have seen in a while, that release is elite at any level, the arm strength is really good, I just thought it strange that with all of these awe inspiring tools to throw the ball, that it flutters as often as it does. I love the kid and love that he is a Buckeye.
He has a great arm. His short throws are from not stepping into it or his feet not being planted.
I gotta admit, I haven't seen the great passer version of Miller but I don't think arm strength is the problem. Mechanics are. He throws an ugly ball and I don't think it's very accurate either. I heard when he was a senior in high school that he was probably a better passer than TP, who was a JR on Ohio State at the time. I've never seen that Braxton Miller yet.
I'm sure he'll get there, but there aren't many passes where I just say DAMN what a throw. That's not to say there aren't plays that I'm amazed by. That Stoneburner TD was a thing of beauty. The 37 yard TD run was nice too.
I'm still not seeing a great or even very good passer at this point though.
FWIW: I heard Braxton in an interview from Bucknuts after the Miami game saying his hands were sweating profusely and it was affecting his grip. Not sure if this was an issue against UCF.
Clearly has an extremely strong arm when he sets his feet and throws in the direction of his front foot. Even the best QBs throw wobblers when their feet and body don't align.
You could really see the footwork issue on his INT. My 4 year old, who is more obsessed than I am said"Braxton needs to work on his feet". I thought it was hilarious but they talked about it ad nauseam(sp?) during the game. I think he will fiugre it out this year. Maybe I am setting myself up for disapointment but the way the Big 10 looked this weekend I really believe 12-0 is a possiblity. Sparty will Sparty in two weeks.. That is all.
