noticed he is still looking for the right place to "fit in". This brings up a good question. With OSU playing alot of STAR package would prototypical MLB be a good fit? Look at Curtis Grant he catches alot of slack, but to be honest hasn't played that bad. I was at the game saturday and noticed alot of times our scheme was in reverse, star in on run plays and mike in on pass plays. I understand it is impossible to telepath the O, but shouldn't that be concern enough to stick with one scheme and recruit a different type of MIKE? Different skill set but leave scheme alone?

It seems Grant has been inconsistent, and Coach Meyer likes what Orhian Johnson brings right now. I did notice Grant let go of what appeared to be a sure tackle on Saturday.
I do hope Grant steps it up big time, but it seems he still has a lot to learn. Perhaps we should be patient with him. At the same time, I'm not sure I really want to see Storm Klein playing a lot...
Back to the original topic of Mitchell: I think the longer the process goes on, which it will, the more likely he will not be a Buckeye. I see Oklahoma as a better fit for a MLB like him and I wonder what proximity to home means for him.
^Rumors a swirling that he wants to be a Buckeye, but his dad isn't helping the OSU cause. If he visits, consider it a done deal. Until then...
Fromthe18, I was responding more about the use (or lack thereof) of the MIKE. In short, I think the MIKE will be an important position, but the current players at the position aren't ideal (in their current state) right now. Or at least that's my take. I would like to see Mike Mitchell become a Buckeye.
Honestly given his speed, he would be a prime candidate to stay on in star packages. I think that Grant's situation is isolated and I'll bet that the coaches would rather have their middle guy stay on since he should be the defense's leader. If Grant continues to improve (and doesn't get beat out by one of the talented freshmen) he will probalby stay on the field next year with Shazier in star packages.
Maybe Ross can illuminate this a bit as well.
He's a MIKE and I think he would stay on in nickel packages as well...I also still think he's a Buckeye
With his speed I imagine he could cover most anyone.
vacuuming sucks
My one concern is that if the family is having such a hard time coming up for a visit, they might decide that coming up for a game could be too much of a hassle.
They are coming for an official visit...Mr. Mitchell came out and said it yesterday...we're hearing Nebraska or Michigan...he wants to make a decision before December
Good news. I had talked with a few high up guys at TOS and they said that dad was the main obstacle; good to hear they're making it up.
Just read an article on ESPN that Alabama has visited him, and he will "see what is up with them."
I said long ago, the longer this drags on, the less likely he is to commit to OSU after all the hype there was at the camp in Oregon. He was all but committed then. It has taken way to long for him to visit. I hope I am wrong, but I'm not holding my breathe.
Is it mean to say I just want him so we can get his brother?
He and his brother couldnt find a better school to go to...
as long as alex is staying confident i will 2.... if he comes to the mich game and we win (which we will) he signs.
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
