After the 1st half of play vs MSU I'm starting to wonder whether Braxton understands the read option. Does he have the sense to be able to learn how to read it? This is obviously a very big play for the offense too. I hate to question him already, especially since it's a transition year and they're learning a new offense but he looks like he has no clue sometimes.
Also... Why are we not running any jet sweeps? Do we not have the players to run it?

I think he still has alot of learning to do in this offense ...
We look a little too slow for a sweep, but I think Braxton is a little bit of a ball hog. I think the situation will get corrected. He definately needs to feed his RBs a bit more. Dont want him to pass any more as his arm is weak.
Herbie has said a few times he missed the read. I am ok with it this year. I dont like it but i think he is still learining. This is the first rea defense we are up against so we will see how he does in the 2nd half. He is still playing well minus the 2 turnovers.
It's a little bit different from field level.
He is a sophomore playing in his fifth game in a new offense. Most quarterbacks don't do anything (Include start) until they're upper classmen. Remember the jump Pryor made from year two to year three?
He does seem to have trouble reading the DE's. He's having a rough day so far as decision-making goes. That said, it's no excuse for running the same exact option play twice in a row (the 2nd he fumbled on). Did Herman not get that it failed miserably the first time? You're on their side of the field, why are we getting cute with it.
Also i tend to forvet he is only a sophomore, for how good he is, he does still have some things to fine ro and get better at.
I just don't think he trusts it yet. He is depending on his atheleticism.
Waycracken, Braxton arm is NOT weak my friend....
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I hope JT Barrett or the 2014 QB runs it better than Braxton... I'm all in on Barker as our 2014 recruit, but wouldn't mind Caleb Henderson since he can pass the football. I'd like to see us spread it out and throw it around and the QB can use his legs when needed.
One Bad. If you need a full arm swing to toss a ball 15 yds your arm is either weak or you have poor technique. No doubt he is our best offensive threat but he needs to improve his passing game to take us to the next level. Just look at his season passing stats.
I don't know if 5 games in on this new offense it's fair to pile on him too much. It's going to take a while to get this offense down.
I understand the frustration at times with Braxton and learning. Let's not forget that with the QB coach he had last year, what he has improved on is pretty impressive.
Going to take time with him but absolutely have faith.
I have a bigger problem with those ineffective bubble screens or whatever they're called to the WR's as opposed to Braxton's reads. His reads aren't great and they put us in a bind sometime, but it also seems he breaks some on the bad reads too with his elusiveness.
Remember he's only a sophmore perfect reads don't come overnight
