I read a tweet from Jared Shanker of ESPN recruiting and he talked about how Urban is still calling Alex Anzalone... Personally I have no clue why he is still recruiting this kid. Let him go and let's focus on Mitchell, McMillan, and the 2014 class of LB's. I just want to treat him like Rob Foster and cut ties.

Obviously Urban sees something in this kid that he really really likes or he would nto be all gung ho about him. Urbz knows what hes doing. Kids a good player and I would not think twice if he switched to the good guys again.
Also, I dont really think the staff had cut ties with Foster. He is still on our board as one of the top targets for recievers and said he is taking an official to OSU. I know the staff still keeps in contact with him.
This is not a big deal. Signing Day is still a long way away. Sure, there's pretty much no chance of Anzalone coming to OSU at this point (barring something unforeseen happening at Notre Dame, although I don't think OSU would be his first choice if he de-comitted from the Irish), but I don't see anything wrong with Urban staying in contact with the kid. That's a pretty standard practice. To me its just doing your due dilligence. Urban was high on the kid and has a relationship with him. And I don't think calling Anzalone is necessarily taking time away from him working on landing 2014 kids or any other recruits.
Just to get it in writing, if Alex comes here no one complains about his recruiting later unless he sucks.
he's recruiting him because he's a top tier LB that can help our defense if urban gave up after a kid committed we wouldn't have landed pittman, williams, reives, schutt, o connor, or decker last recruiting class. most of those guys have made contributions this year . although those other guys you mentioned look good he sees something special in this kid
The reason I bring this up is because he committed to us then decommitted... I don't see him coming back. If he does it would really surprise me and the rest of the BuckeyeNation. That is the difference between him and the other guys mentioned. I understand Urban knows what he is doing, but I see it as a waste of time. Even if it is just a phone call.
While I agree that there is very little chance of Anzalone recomitting to OSU, it really costs Meyer nothing to maintain the relationship. And you never know when it might bear fruit in the future. Two or three years down the line, we might be recruiting a kid from that high school or area, maybe a younger brother or relative of Anzalone. And having a friendly relationship with Alex even if he never came here could make all of the difference. And the converse is true, if Urban gives the impression that he is only interested in kids that he can get something out of, that will be passed on to potential recruits as well.
