Hineygate Memories

I didn't start at Ohio State until 2007 and a lot has changed since then. Previous to what now is Panera Bread and Lane Ave Hall, the Hineygate use to be there near the Holiday Inn. Could anyone who is a little bit more "seasoned", explain to the me and other Buckeyes who didn't get this experience what the Hineygate was and what it has become if it got moved....

It was in front of the Holiday Inn that was there. Bands played through out the day, beer wagons, and schmidts along with some other vendors had food booths open. Absolute blast. You could go inside to the ballrooms and watch the game on big screens or do whatever you wanted. Always enjoyed a good cigar while there. Could flow freely up and down Lane with beer in hand.

Bucks4Real hit the biggest change... While Karen Holbrook was president, she decided that it had become too much of a drunken orgy and that Lane Ave should be open to traffic on game day. I believe this happened around 2002 or 2003. Prior to that point you could actually wander around chatting with groups of people standing in the middle of Lane who were encircling a 24 pack of Natti Lite... It was a special kind of event.

Music, food, beer - just like what is Hineygate now except more of it.  Plus, good bands.  Danger Brothers.  Fun stuff.

Class of 2010.

Saw boobs for the first time at Hineygate. Some 30ish (maybe 40ish) woman flashed me when I was about 10 years old. I was young, but seemed like it was more loose, open, and wild during the mid to late '90s.

sounds like a combination of my 2 favorite places, cbus on a gameday and Nola.  Wish it was around for my generation(tosu class of 2011)

I always like the "home field" advantage of walking around Lane Ave. with thousands of people with beers in their hand while a group of frat boys wearing opposing jerseys got their open container summons from the local constabulary.

Hineygate was hilarious, I watched the 2nd half of the #1 vs #2 game there. May it RIP.

If nothing else: Marionaire.
