Future Buckshot - scUM recruit Morris in hospital with mono

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8400222/michigan-wolverin...

Can farm animals get mono or is it human to human only?

He suspended his Twitter account in an effort to let him concentrate on getting better ... apparently reading and tweeting with both thumbs could get in the way of that.

I had mono in college. Worst I've ever felt in my life. Went to hospital twice for severe dehydration.  Don't wish it on anyone, even a Michy recruit. Hope he gets over it quick.

Did you deactivate all of your social media accounts in order to get over it or did you somehow manage to still get well?

Agree with ATXBUCKNUT... Had it my freshman year and it was awful, hope the kid can bounce back and take part in a bit more of his senior season.

Classy making fun of KID for a having serious illness. I don't get what goes through your head. Classy.

Hope he recovers quickly.

Come one man; we all don't like Michigan but there has to be another way to bash them other than this. Someone gets sick and you call them a fram animal? Not respectful man. Just say Michigan sucks or something creative but this is a low blow. Hope he gets better.

serious illness? its mono for crying out loud. He'll be fine in a month or two. This isnt a post celebrating a career-ending injury, its making light of a relatively common illness that a lot of highschool/college kids get and recover from. I've had plenty of friends have it, mainly from hooking up with the wrong type of girl, which probably happened here. This isnt a low-blow at all IMO, this is extremely light-hearted compared to 99% of the posts about Penn State's issues. If Morris got this while being the starting QB for Michigan, many on here wouldnt publically say they were happy, but they would definitely crack a little bit of a smile. Nothing to see here.

Fromthe18,

If someone is an athlete, it is more likely for him to contract mono from the close quarters of a locker room, contact with sweaty players, or drinking from water bottles.

It actually is a serious illness, not necessarily life threatening, but still serious. And this post most definetly WAS a low blow.

"Can farm animals get mono or is it human to human only?"

It doesn't take a genius to get what he was implying with that remark. And this is a 17 year old kid...I don't care if he has a headache, you don't make fun of kids for being ill.

I'll say it again....classy.

I'm with CincyOSU and others on this one. Not classy at all.

I had mono in college and was hospitalized for four days. Took me an entire semester before I could walk from my dorm at AU to the dining hall without stopping five times to rest. Bad headaches from brain swelling. Turned yellow from jaundice complications for three days. Had to sleep for weeks with seven or eight blankets because of the chills. It was awful.

But even if it wasn't, why make fun of someone for being sick (or for that matter injured)? I want every kid at Michigan to live up to their potential and have their lives work out well, just like I want that for every kid at OSU.

I want to see their butt beat on the football field, but that's just a game.

I got it from water bottles my senior baseball season. It sounds like it's pretty severe, in which case I hope he recovers fast. That being said, when I had it I actually sort of enjoyed it.

Good lord ... this kid is the king of trolling Ohio State at every opportunity and I am simply poking some fun.  Don't get your panties in a wad CincyOSU and friends - I am not wishing anything on him, I'm not saying I hope he stays in the hospital and dies.

OH MY GOD - He photobombed a pic of OSU recruits!!! Eventhough some of you might not, these kids actually get along and respect each other. You do realize that he is going to UM...he's not supposed to promote OSU football.

Don't be mad because you got called out by MULTIPLE ppl.

I can't wait for our defense to destroy this kid on the field, crushing the overconfidence he's had on display since day one--but, for that to happen the guy's got to get better, and I'll never wish illness (let alone the kind that hospitalizes you) on anyone.  Hopefully, he gets out of the hospital soon and works his way to a speedy recovery.

As much as the kid talks, it does seem like he'll be good for adding a new "character" to the rivalry.

Mono affects everyone differently. I had it my Junior year at OSU..probly from a beer pong cup or something...but I was still going to the gym, playing soccer and had no idea I had it until my lymph nodes swelled up and I went to the doctor. Didnt miss any classes...but i hope he gets better, some friends who have had it were out of commission for quite some time

My funny mono story, well, my roommates:

In college I roomed with my friend on the track team and he was feeling sick for like a week or more. He went to the campus health clinic and they checked him out. Dr says, "Welp, you have mono, your spleen is quite enlarged and you should refrain from any serious physical activity for at least a few weeks." So my buddy replies, "So I shouldn't run the hepthalon tomorrow?" Dr. looks at him and says, "God no! Were you planning on it?"

I hope he will get better soon. No one in their right mind would wish mono on anyone, even if he's a TSUN recruit. Maybe he was starting to feel bad right after Cleveland St. Ignatius made him look like Adam Sandler in the Waterboy.

People who are making fun of the kid for having mono = classless

People saying mono is a serious illness = clueless

Mono is only serious if someone is dumb enough to not get it treated within two to three weeks of contracting it.

Here's to a fast recovery Mr. Morris. Sadly, this might not be nearly as painful as your time as Michigan's starting QB in two or three years.

4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off

I didn't realize there were so many Mother Theresa's on this board. Frankly I doubt this kid even has mono. I think it is an excuse for how bad he has played and he is trying to salvage his 5 star ranking. Here are his reported numbers so far: 40 of 83 passes for 456 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Not only that when Morris played decent teams like St. Ignatius his numbers looked like Joe Bauserman's stats were he to line up against this years Alabama D. I for one would like an independent doctor to check him out and verify the diagnosis. You have to remember that many of UM's recruits were lured into UM by the promise that Morris was a great QB that would lead them to championships. I wonder how many of those recruits would stick with UM if they found out Morris couldn't even handle high school talent.

I don't wish sickness on anybody and hope he has a good recovery. Other than that this dude is complete garbage on the football field and is highly overated. That is all go bucks.

Buckshot, you have to be kidding me. I know text is the worst medium by which one can detect sarcasm, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Please tell me what you wrote was a joke.

Im am not going to go quite as far as Buckshot, but I will say this. Shane Morris was pretty classless in some of the stuff he said and did. Treat others in the way you want to be treated is a relevant saying here.

Brewster - Sadly, I don't think he is joking. It's conspiracy filled thoughts like this that give part of our fanbase a bad name.

Gray - What has he said that is so bad? The kid IS going to UM, he's not supposed to promote OSU. And a little research actually shows that OSU and UM recruits do get along...so a little back and forth is nothing to take seriously.

Mono sucks. Had it the whole summer before my senior year. Climbing a flight of steps was a major chore. I hope the kid gets his ass kicked once he suits up against OSU but mocking the kid for getting sick is a dick move. Hope he is able to make it back for a few games this year.

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

This stuff doesnt give "our fanbase a bad name" its the pissing on away fans in the bathroom at the stadium (im fine if its a Michigan fan though), shouting obsenities at women and children fans of other teams, and other acts on a similar level that give our fanbase a bad name--an other fanbases do things like this as well. This is a post on an OHIO STATE website that in no way is asking for the permanent harm of another teams player. If anything is upsetting is how unfunny the farm animal quip is. Could have come up with something more witty.

I highly doubt someone would say they have mono just because they are playing poorly. I am sure he probably really does have it or some type of illness.

and if he doesn't and he really isn't all that good, even better. I wouldn't mind if the future of UM is in the hands of a Bauserman type QB. Heck, I would love it if Morris ended up like Chad Henne!

Wow, making fun of a Michigan commit who has trolled Ohio State commits hard for getting the sniffles on an Ohio State website. HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT.

^^^1) Mono is not "the sniffles". 2) For the love of God, he is a UM committ....is he supposed to promote OSU? 3) Our commits have also "trolled" UM commits(ie Burrows and McCray's car). This is lighthearted fun between kids who have respect for each other. Grown men don't need to get all worked up over something a 17 year kid does...esp when our recruits either don't care or take part in it themselves.
